We are just back from our visit to the Mississippi Stare Kennel Club Show in Jackson MS and we have a slew of show results and comments to share with you all, or as they say In Mississippi, y’all.
First the remnants of yesterday’s Los Encino KC show in Long Beach CA… in addition to our previously reported BIS/group winners, we have the following of note. The Sealyham Terrier, CH Efbe's Hidalgo At Goodspice, finished second in the Terrier Group and the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Tug, found himself in the fourth spot in the Toy Group behind the Toy Poodle, CH Smash JP Moon Walk, and the American/Canadian/ Thai (yes, Thai) CH Starlight’s Dream Come True. CH Tallyrand Halo Chaser, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi that beat CH Coventry Vanity Fair in the breed yesterday, also snared a Herding Group Four.
Not all the country’s ranked dogs are in Long Beach. As we reported yesterday, the Harrier, CH Downhome Family Tradition is in Cleveland OH. Out in the Chicago Suburb of Wheaton IL, Judge Jane Forsyth awarded the country’s number 17 dog, the Basset Hound, CH Topsfield-Vision Silver Noodles, the BIS at the Starved Rock Kennel Club show (Now there’s a very Southwest name for a Midwest club). Here, in my neck of the woods, the number 12 dog, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, and the number 20 dog, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Woodside Pacino, both took Group Firsts at the Thursday iteration of the MS ST KC show, where the Japanese Chin, CH Victory Oliver Charms took the BIS from Judge Douglas A. Johnson.
Our schedule today did not allow us to stay for the BIS in Jackson, although we can report that handler Scott Sommer picked up another Terrier Group One with the Lakeland. We did have time to meet Sandy Woodall, the breeder/owner/handler of the 16 month old Chinese Shar Pei that went BIS twice last weekend. Our thanks to the very generous D’elda Germany for giving us lessons on grooming the Cairn Terrier and a special mention for our new Cairn friends, Bill McGinnis and his charming wife, Ronnie.
