A BRIDESMAID NO MORE

Last weekend the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Take Aim's Playing For Gryffindor, and the Chinese Crested, CH Kultana’s Sh-Boom, were in San Francisco picking up back2back BIS & RBIS respectively.  Today the two were in Fresno at the Sun Maid Kennel Club Of Fresno show.  The Crested, Holly, would play bridesmaid no more, taking the BIS while the Bouvier Gryf, added the RBIS to his impressive resume.

Joining them in Dr Michael Woods’ final were the English Setter, GCH CH Sagebrush's Simply Irresistible, the Bloodhound, GCH CH M&M’s Price of Freedom, the Akita, GCH CH Redwitch Adrenaline Junkie, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, and the Dalmatian, GCH CH Saint Florian Literati’s One n Only.  It was Holly’s first BIS of the year in four final appearances this year.  Congratulations to breeder Darlene Anderson, owners Shirley Frumkin & Michael Frumkin, and handler Tammy M Miyagawa.

GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded

New England fanciers’ Westminster Warm Up was in West Springfield MA today.  Judge Carol Kniebusch Noe gathered the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creeks Double or Nothing for Heather, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Allure Playing with Fire, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Br’er Fox Phillipa of Hunterson, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded, the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Hearthside Riveredge Sure Is Summum, in her final ring.

The two she put at the front of the line were the Peke and the Doberman.  It was the first of the year for the Peke, Rodger, who finished 2013 as the Number Three Toy Dog with 13 BIS and 65 Toy Groups.  Congratulations to breeder Albert Easdon, owner Sandra Middlebrooks, and owner/handler David Fitzpatrick.

GCH CH Ultra Quest Go For The Gold

There was dog show action in Phoenix AZ Friday with the Heart of the Desert Classic’s opener hosted by Sahuaro State Kennel Club.  Judge Loraine Boutwell took the first final, choosing her top two from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH  Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Sunrumba’s Lovestruck By Life, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Andover See-Z The Moment, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Go For The Gold, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Rio Skye’s Flashback, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Traveler’s Kelise Overdrive.

She chose two newcomers, the Toy Fox, Oliver, and the Welsh Terrier, for her BIS and RBIS.  Oliver was the breed winner at December’s AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.  Congratulations to breeder Kasey Mando, owner Wendy Howard, and handler Alan Chambers.

Friday was Hump Day in Wildwood NJ where the Sand and Sea Kennel Club had the day three show at the five show Atlantic Ocean Cluster.  Judge Rita Holloway did not have a camel among her seven finalists, but she did have an Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir.  She named the Afghan, Ryder, her Best In Show and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Rinchen’s Blazing Black Icon, as her Reserve Best In Show.

Also vying for her attention were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Crispy Legacy, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Beauty & Beat, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger. 

One of the most competitive breeds at Westminster will be Afghan Hounds, with at least three BIS winners competing.  Ryder, who finished 2013 as the Number Six Hound with ten BIS and 43 Hound Groups, has one BIS, one RBIS, and three Hound Group Firsts, so far this year.  Congratulations  to breeders/owners Perry Rooks & Christine Anderson-Smith, owner/handler  Phil Schafmayer, and owner Sharon Ferraro.
