GREATER KINGSPORT KC DAY ONE

We did have another set of shows this week here in the state of Tennessee.  The Greater Kingsport Kennel Club is set up for two days in the east end of the state.  Today’s final fell to Elaine Mathis who mulled over the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Skyline’s Dream Big, the Bullmastiff, CH Peerless I am the Love Bug, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Rangel’s Crown Prince, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Stepamgar King of Memphis, the Lhasa Apso, CH Hi Tide Catch the Summer Wind, and a Rough Collie from the Open Bitch class, Blu Ridge Hanover Just Say Yes.

Her Best was the country’s Number One Dog All breeds, the Cocker, Beckham.  Beckham and handler Michael Pitts. Have opened a huge lead on the rest of the field with 17 BIS and a remarkable 58 Sporting group Ones.

VACATIONLAND DOG CLUB DAY TWO

Charlotte Patterson had the final at the day two show of the Vactionland Dog Club where New England fanciers are enjoying four days in the seaside town of Scarborough ME.   Her special seven were the English Setter, GCH CH Colthouse Genuine Draft, the 15" Beagle, GCH CH  Langriggs Star of the Stage, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D's Devil Wears Prada, the Pug, GCH CH  Foursquare I'll be a Showstopper Tu, the Cairn Terrier, GCH Maverston Double Dutch, the Schipperke to be named later, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Macdega Apropos.

Her BIS was the Pug, McGee.  It’s the first all breed BIS for McGee.  Congratulations to breeders/owners David Johnson DVM & Judi Johnson and handler Jason Bailey.

LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA DAY TWO

They had so much fun at the day one show of the Ladies' Kennel Association Of America in Oyster Bay NY that they did it all over again.  Catherine Bell awarded the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins the back2back BIS.  Roy and handler Cliff Steele were challenged by the Flat Coated Retriever, GCH CH Valhala Born on the 4th of July, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Sommerri Dunharrow’s Devil Ray, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Candie Ham of Pebbles’Run, the Welsh Terrier, Saredon It Had To be You, the Pug, GCH CH San Remo’s Tug of War, and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Salishan’s My Special Angel.

Roy is the winningest Beardie in AKC history with 59 career BIS.

CATCHING UP IN JACKSON TN

We’re back from Jackson TN and have results from yesterday’s and today’s shows.  Arlene Davis had Friday’s final of the day one show of the Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Bo-Bett’s Open Button, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante’s Fire When Ready HOF, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry’s Pageant.

Best went to the Skye, Buddy.  Buddy is the country’s Number Three Terrier based on all breed points, but is the Number One Terrier based on the Number of Terrier Groups won.  He has 42 Terrier Group Ones so far this year.  That’s more than twice the number of any other Terrier.  Wow!

Today’s day two show of the JTDFA ended with Buddy back in the final ring with judge Elizabeth Muthard and the above named Springer, the Basenji, GCH CH Gossip Girl, the previously mentioned Boxer, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dacun Kaylen's He's A Heartbreaker, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Bandheim’s Captain Crunch.

She chose the GSD, Capi, as her Best In Show.  Mexican import, Capi, now has seven BIS and 33 Herding Group top prizes.

Best went to the Doberman, Miranda.  It’s the first for Miranda, who is not yet two years old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Breeder: Dr Anthony DiNardo & Mrs Sheila DiNardo, co-breeder Ann Ramsbottom-White, fellow owners Tony Pinto & June Pinto, and handler Kelly Marquis.

Sandra Goose Allen was in Marietta OH for the day one show of the Greater Clarksburg WV Kennel Club.  Her seven survivors were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s In The Bag, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Samoyed, GCH CH Stolichnaya, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Cracknor’s Cross the Ts, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Pekings Midnight Vision at Wenshu, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Heiress. 

Picking up the back2back BIS was the Golden, Chloe.  It’s her third of the year, all within the last month.

LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA DAY ONE

New Yorkers headed out on the Island (Long Island, if you’re not from the area) for three days of dog events.  Today and tomorrow it’s the Ladies' Kennel Association Of America in Teddy Roosevelt’s hometown of Oyster Bay.

Day one exhibitors braved rains through part of the judging, but the skies were clear for Howard Falberg's final.  He had his choice of the Golden Retriever, CH Chantelle on Your Mark, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Somerri Dunharrow’s Devil Ray, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Candie Ham of Pebbles’Run, the Welsh Terrier, Sarendon It Had To Be You, the Pug, GCH CH San Remo’s Tug of War, the Miniature Poodle, CH Maldavale’s State Side, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

His choice for BIS was the Beardie, Roy.  That’s eleven this year for Roy, the country’s Number One Herding Dog.  We love a dog that looks great soaking wet.

We also have another four day cluster that began today, in Marietta OH where the Blennerhassett Kennel Club hosted the first of two they will host this week.  Dr Ronald Spritzer had his pick of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s In the Bag, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, the Samoyed, GCH CH Stolichnaya, the Bedlington Terrier, GCCH CH Lamz Heads I Win Tales You Lose, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Heiress.

BIS was the Golden, Chloe.  It’s her second of the season.  Both wins have come in the last 30 days.

CLARKSVILLE KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

We have just returned from Jackson TN where the Clarksville Kennel Club opened a four day set with the Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association.  Since there are no other shows anywhere else in the South or in Texas, the CKC drew entries from as far away as Florida.  Today’s final had Charles Olvis with a spectacular seven of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Whippet, GCH CH Tripletime Change of Heart, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Fire When Ready HOF, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Bandheim’s Captain Crunch.

Best went to the handsome Springer, Peyton.  It’s the second time this year we’ve been on hand to watch  Peyton go BIS.  He just keeps getting better.  We have this as his seventh the of the year.

CORONADO KENNEL CLUB OF NEW MEXICO

 We have final results from the Coronado Kennel Club of New Mexico’s Monday & Tuesday shows in Albuquerque NM.  On Monday Steven Gladstone chose his BSI from the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Saluki, DC Shatani Ivory Moon SC, the Akita, GCH CH Moonlight Celestial Sermon, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Devon Semper Fi, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Everafter’s best Bet Yet, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Enchanted’s American Thunder.

His Best was the Saluki, Jayda.  It’s the second BIS this year for Jayda, who has logged nine top Hound Group rosettes this season.

Gloria Kerr closed the four day set with the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Quailridge's Coupe De Ville, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Bayleigh Shaireab Just the Ticket, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont, the above named Bichon, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey's Tails Of Mystery.


The final day BIS went to the Pharaoh Hound, Qing.  That brings Qing’s 2011 record to 17 BIS & 42 Hound Groups.  That’s a lot of wins in just four & half months.

THE COMING SHOW WEEK

This coming week will offer lots of shows in lots of places.  We have three & four day clusters aplenty. In New England the Vacationland Dog Club and the York County Kennel Club Of Maine will be in Scarborough ME for four days starting Thursday.  New Yorkers will head out to Long Island on Friday for two days with the Ladies' Kennel Association Of America in Oyster Bay, followed by Sunday with the Long Island Kennel Club in Bethpage.  Upstate residents will be In Alexander NY for a traditional two day weekend with the Wyoming Valley kennel Club.

Great Lakes residents will have several options this week with four days in Marietta OH  with the Greater Clarksburg WV Kennel Club & the Blennerhassett Kennel Club starting Thursday, and two day stops in Corunna MI with the Genesee County Kennel Club, in Greentown IN with the Kokomo Kennel Club, & in Oshkosh WI with the Oshkosh Kennel Club & the Winnegamie Dog Club.

 In the Mid Atlantic it’s the Mattaponi Kennel Club’s two shows in Manassas VA outside of  the Nation’s Capital or head east to Gray TN where the Greater Kingsport Kennel Club will be for two days.  Here in the Mid-South the Clarksville Kennel Club or Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association  are hosting four days in Jackson TN, just 80 miles east of  Memphis. 

We have just one site for exhibitors in the Great Plains, the Sunflower Kennel Club Of Olathe, Kansas in Gardner KS.  However,  we have dog shows in two locations in the Mountain Time Zone this week.  Try the Durango Kennel Club’s trio in Cortez CO ( that’s in the four corners area of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, & Arizona) or the Mount Ogden Kennel Club’s twofer in Logan UT, 100 miles north of Salt Lake City.

West Coast fanciers will be burning up I-5 between Lynden WA  where the Mt Baker Kennel Club has two shows, Vallejo CA, in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the Coyote Hills Kennel Club, and Valley Center CA, just north of San Diego.

We encourage you to get out and see the purebred dogs of AKC this week.  We will be entered all four days in Jackson TN.  Do stop by the Cairn ring & say hello.

We are still gathering results from this past weekend.  Lowell Davis had the final final in Perry GA, calling the BIS at the day two show of the Macon Kennel Club Sunday.  His seven options were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Double Ring Tarees Dream Machine, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Bayleigh Shaireab Pinball Wizard, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song At Morningstar. 

His Best was the Corgi, Spencer.  It’s the third BIS in the last month for Spencer and handler Frank Murphy.  Spencer was bred by Carrie P Harris & Anna T Wyatt, and is owned bys Kiki Courtelis & Linda Dossett.  With a team like that behind you and three BIS in four weeks, we say you have a DOG2WATCH.

SIOUX VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

Once again we have several hangovers from the weekend…no, no,  not the alcohol induced kind, the we have no AKC rep kind.  From Le Mars IA, we have results of this past weekend’s Sioux Valley Kennel Club’s two shows.  Saturday Barbara Dempsey Alderman chose the beautiful Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Avion Wouldn’t You Know, as her BIS.  She might have chosen the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Kan-Point’s Leading the Chase, the Bloodhound, CH Quiet Creek’s Windfall, the Siberian Husky, CH Tovik’s Western Design, the Parson Russell Terrier, GCH CH Posey Canyon No Brainer!, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Ista’s Hurricain Chaser, or the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Frontier’s License to Carry at Margaux, but she didn’t.

We saw this guy back in March in Louisville and were very impressed.  It’s the first all breed BIS for BISS winning Woody, but we assure you there will be many more.  Congratulations to breeder Yvonne Hagman, owner Linda Campbell, and handler Sarah Riedl.

Sunday, Janis Mercer, finished the set with Woody, the above named Bloodhound, Siberian, & Parson, the Golden Retriever, CH Glengowan’s Authentic Playboy, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Xtc’s What Can Brown Do for You?.  She chose the MinPin, Classie as her BIS.  Classie and owner/handler Armando Angelbello are fresh from picking up the BISS at the 2011 Miniature Pinscher Club of America National Specialty on Friday.  Sunday win brings their 2011 BIS total to four.

RIO GRANDE KC DAY TWO

We told you that our choice this week for a great weekend with dogs was Albuquerque NM where the Rio Grande Kennel Club & the Coronado Kennel club of New Mexico are in the midst of bringing us four shows.  Yesterday was the RGKC day two show.  The final ring was occupied by Col Joe Purkhiser, the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Saluki, DC Shahtani Ivory Moon SC, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Devon Semper Fi, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak McDreamy, the Bichon Frise, GCH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, the and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Enchanted’s American Thunder.

He chose the winningest Kuvazs in AKC history, Tanner.  Tanner. Is currently the nation’s Number Ten Dog All Breeds with seven BIS & 24  Working Group firsts this year.

DENTON KENNEL CLUB

Denton TX was the spot for the hometown Denton’s Kennel Club’s two shows this weekend.  Participating in Saturday’s final were the Golden Retriever, GCH Summit’s The Titanic, the Basset Hound, CH Morningwood Luciano, the Bullmastiff, CH Xtreme’s Triple Bock, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Ring of Fire, the Maltese, GCH CH Rhapsody’s Regarding Henry, the Bulldog, CH Cymri’s Slo Poke, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Neo’s Heidelberg Rocco V Franscesca.

Day one belonged to the AmStaff, Phoenix.  American born Phoenix recently returned from Europe where he was  the Junior World Winner and Junior Euro Winner.  He was a Top Terrier in Hungary winning one International Best In Show He also won the Spanish National Specialty from the classes under US Judge Gary Doerge.   It’s the first AKC BIS for Phoenix, who is not yet two years  old.  Congratulations to breeders Ed & Karen Thomason, Dan Nechemias & Lois Claus, owners Jennifer Mosing &  Ed & Karen Thomason, and handler Brian Livingston.

Day two finished up with Roger Hartinger surrounded by the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH West star’s Calm Before the Storm, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Belcanto  Flags A’Flyn, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Shalimars Golden Ticket, the previously named AmStaff & Maltese, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Chitawee’s Just In Case, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Copperridge’s One Time Offer.

Best went to the Schnauzer, Charlie.  It must have seemed like déjà vu  all over again for Charlie and handler Brenda Combs as they reprised their 2010 Denton Kennel Club BIS.  Congratulants to Brenda, breeder/owner Nonie Lomando and owner Julie Trombley.

AMERICAN ROTTWEILER CLUB

GCH Gamegards Rhythm Of The Rain

Nearly 400 Rottweilers gathered in Lancaster PA for the 2011 National Specialty of the American Rottweiler Club.  Breeder judge Karen Riddle chose the two year old bitch GCH Gamegards Rhythm Of The Rain as her BISS.   Other winners included Best of Opposite Sex, CH Lorals Number One Caesar, and Top Twenty Winner, GCH CH Cammcastle’s Friar Tuck.

This is a breed where bitches have a difficult time prevailing over the dogs.  BISS Cadey, who was BOS at both December’s AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, & February’s Westminster Kennel Club show, becomes the Number One Rottweiler in the US (based on breed points).  Take notice, boys.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Victoria Weaver & Pamela Marsh, owner Cheryl Krown, and handler Jessy Sutton.

LANCASTER KENNEL CLUB

CH Spotlight’s Ruffian

The action in Pennsylvania moved to Lebanon PA on Sunday for the Lancaster Kennel Club.  David Jay Hyman chose his BIS from the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallam’s Ethan Ramel MC LCX, the Rottweiler, GCH CH D'Oro Solido's Feliciano Uno, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Cracknor Cross The Ts, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Dalmatian, CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Tk Rocks Running Like The Wind.

Best went to the Dalmatian, Ian.  It’s the first BIS for Ian, who is named after the great thoroughbred filly.  Congratulations to breeder Connie Wagner, owners Jim Lyons & Barbara Lyons, and handler Michael Scott.

Next we travel to Eau Claire WI for the day two show of the Indianhead Kennel Club.  Keke Kahn’s seven survivors were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Mud Creek's Orange Crush, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Isledox Tractor Tug, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream Of Style, Saturday’s BIS winner, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Kokura Yama Jp Emirio, the Bulldog, GCH CH Evergreen's Miss Congeniality, and the Belgian Chargany's Voyageur.

Best was Dachshund, Tug.   It’s the first this year for Tug who finished 2010 with one all breed Best and three Hound Group top prizes.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Faith Overdahl, co-owner Marylou Mader, and handler Debbie Melgreen.

Our next stop is the Mississippi River town of Rock Island IL where Randy Garren had the closer for the Scott County Kennel Club.  His options were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Royal Guardians That’s My Boy, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Clos Erasmus, the  Boxer, CH Avalon’s Urban Legend, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Kambara’s Zebulon, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Chindale’s Oriental Infusion, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Divine No Doubt Deagra, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, CH Ponwoods Oblong.

Best went to the current Canine Chronicle cover girl, the Greyhound, Era.  If you haven’t seen Era and breeder/owner/handler Rindi Gaudet in the ring, do so.  They epitomize the sophisticated sight hound.  Team Era includes Rindi, breeder/owner Melanie Steele, and co-breeder Clint Livingston.   Congratulations to them all.

It’s Monday Morning Mash Up time and we will start in Connecticut where the Windham County Kennel Club is so exclusive they won’t even share their online catalog.   Wouldn’t want those fanciers from lesser zip codes to share in the vicarious pleasure of  AKC dog shows.

Sunday’s selective seven that saw BIS judge Carl Gomes were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender is the Night, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Monkhams Famous Grouse, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Keno’s Stealing Time, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Pug, GCH CH Foursquare I'll Be A Showstopper Tu, the Bulldog, GCH CH Cherokee Origin Just Johnny, and the Puli, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm Twist and Shout.

Best was the beautiful AmStaff bitch, Maddy.  Maddy & handler Kim Rudzik have been on a roll lately picking up four all breed Bests in the last three weeks for a total of seven this year. We wish every politician that has maligned this breed could meet Maddy .  They would be converts instantly.

The Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover,  made it two for two adding today’s Camellia Kennel Club BIS to yesterday’s win.  Anitra Cuneo chose the Malamute, Ricky over the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Great Expectations, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca The Norseman, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH Musicale’s Dancing Henry, the Bulldog, GCH CH Globe and Anchor Sgt Iron Mike, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon.  Dog2Watch, Ricky, now has two BIS this year.  Apparently they’re habit forming.

The Klamath Dog Fanciers topped off the four day canine carnival in Klamath Falls OR with their day two show.  David Bolus’ final featured the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussex’s Last Lion, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Parisians Helo of Riverridge, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Temris Bully for Me, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Top Banana, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Tramac Just Walk’N on Sunshine, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Hirsch’s Top Notch Attire.

Best went to the Dal, Bindi.   At seven years of age, Bindi was twice the age of many of her fellow finalists, but she also is a experienced finalist, with multiple Group Wins to her credit over multiple years.  This is her first this year.  Congratulations to breeders/owners J W Smith & M A Callea.

In Tallmadge OH the dog show weekend came to a close with Faye Strauss sharing the final ring with the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Erinhill Cpnwy Mr Fuzzywrinkles , the Pharaoh Hound,, GCH CH Tiara Ne-Kabu Abu Simbel Ankh, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, , the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Bar Dan Remington Steele, the Pug, GCH CH Kenshei‘s And That‘s The Way It Is, the Bulldog, Legacy Tobe with the Archangels, and the Briard, GCH CH Honeycreek’s Chantilly Lace.

It was another BIS for the nation’s Number Four Dog All Breeds, the Boxer, Scarlett.  Scarlett and handler Diego Garcia have had a busy week, taking a BIS in Ohio last Sunday, a BISS at the American Boxer Club’s National Specialty in Kentucky on Friday, & now the BIS back in Ohio today.  This busy girl now has twelve BIS this year.

The Midland Michigan Kennel Club finished up their day two show early today with Katie Gammill’s final.  Her seven options were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wall Street, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Kenro‘s fleeting Moment, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Waybroke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Northwind Nothing But Trouble, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Windchymes Change of Winds Chistopher.

Best went to the Shih Tzu, Austin.  It was the 20th all breed final for the winner of last weekend’s Shih Tzu Club of America National Specialty, yet his first all breed BIS of the year.  We love a persistent Shih Tzu. We say, "it's about time" and congratulations to breeder/handler Luke Ehricht, co-breeder Diane Ehricht, and owners Joe & Bobbi Walton.

The Greater Fort Myers Dog Club closed their two day party in their Florida hometown today with James Noe considering the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gemini Fallchase the Butler Did It, the Saluki, GCH CH Baha Persian of Interest NAJ, the Samoyed, CH White Magic Seasoned Traveler, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Pomeranian, CH Starfire’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dacun Kaylen's He's A Heartbreaker, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Equinox Ad Astra, before choosing the Pom, Vini, as his Best In Show.

Just 21 months old, it’s the first BIS for Vini.  Congratulations to breeders Fabian Arienti & Jose Cabrera and owner Martha Feltenstein.

Out in Woodland CA, north of Sacramento, the Camellia Kennel Club set up for two days.  Saturday’s day one final was judged by Henry Moulton.  He had his pick of the English Setter, GCH CH Cobblestone Summer Sunshine JH, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca The Norseman, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH Musicale’s Dancing Henry, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH PaRay’s Power & privilege, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Mindalyn Wishful Thinking.

He picked the Malamute, Ricky.  It’s the first BIS for Ricky this year, who finished 2010 with seven BIS & 23 Working Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeder/owner P J Kendrick, owners Armando Martinez & Alisa Syar, and handler Mike Stone.

We start today with a couple of reports from yesterday.  First from Rock Island IL and the Scott County Kennel Club, we hear that that the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, is continuing her record setting ways winning BIS under Karin Ashe.

Lola & breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas prevailed over the Flat Coat Retriever, CH Flatford Comic Relief MH, Boxer, CH Avalon's Urban Legend, the Bedlington Terrier, CH Glaurieus Top Super Mod Elle, the Japanese Chin, CH Chindale's Oriental Infusion, the Keeshonden, CH KJ's It Is Nothing Personal, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Stone Ridge Devils N Angels.

It’s the career 38th BIS for Lola & Marcelo, their sixth this year.   In addition to Marcelo, Team Lola includes breeder/owner Alessandra Botelho, and co-owner Marco Flavio.  Congratulations to them all.
