Before we give you today’s results we want to tell you about Friday’s Birmingham Kennel Club show. The seven dogs that BIS judge Dr Alvin Krause considered were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Highlander’s Celtic Carrol CGC, the Samoyed, GCH CH Tobil’s Storm Warning at Sunrise, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Luminary Black Velvet Bejeweled With Pearls, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Legacy Legend’s Cutting Edge.

Dr Krause’s BIS was the Sammie, Toby. His RBIS was the Welsh Terrier, Jennie. It was the first AKC BIS for Toby and breeder/handler Cathy Short. Congratulations to Cathy and owners Jerry & Sue Morgan.

TOP THREE MEET IN KANSAS



GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire

The country’s top three dogs, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, are all in Valley Center KS for this weekend’s biggest entry, the Sunflower Cluster.

Friday was hosted by the Wichita Kennel Club and our top three all joined judge Gene Blake in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Farao Anubis Inferno, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Tontine’s Chance Redemption, and the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjà vu I Want’a Talk About Me.

Judge Blake chose the Number Three Dog, the Poodle, Flame, as his BIS and the Number One Dog, the Portie, Matisse, as his RBIS.    Flame now has 12 BIS and 28 Non-Sporting Groups.  Flame and handler Sarah Perchick have collected 12 BIS and 28 Group Ones this year, but still trail the two leaders by nearly 25,000 points.    We wouldn’t count her out just yet.

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire 

Our first show report today comes in from West Springfield MA where the Cheshire Kennel Club opened a three day set. 

GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded 

The day one final featured the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Raindance Led Zeppelin Of Marquis, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash JP Beauty & Beat, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Erin's I'm Your Man, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH TK Rocks Running Like The Wind. 

 Judge Theresa Hundt chose the IWS, Riley, as her Best, and the Afghan, Matrix, as her RBIS. Riley is the nation’s Number Two Sporting Dog with nine BIS and 16 Sporting Groups in 2014.

Our show week got underway yesterday in Columbiana AL south of Birmingham.  Day one ended with judge Ann Hearn going over the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Windmill Wireworks Chance of Rain, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Highlander’s Rumour Has It, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Donavin’s Caramel Macchiato, the Bulldog, GCH CH  Dowats The Gladiator, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Xtra Style.

Taking the top prizes were the Welsh Terrier, Jennie, with the  BIS, and the Siberian, Rumour, with the RBIS.  Jennie is the country’s Number Two Terrier with three BIS and 20 Terrier Groups this year.

When we last visited Mitchell NE we told you that the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, was Charlotte Clem McGowan’s BIS at Friday’s Scottsbluff Kennel Club show.

The Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey would dominate the rest of the weekend in Mitchell, taking both the Saturday and Sunday BIS. On Saturday judge Jon Cole would prefer the Puli, charlotte to the Brittany, Beckett, whom he gave the RBIS. Also hoping to catch the judge’s eye were the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH B’Haven’s Sherpa’s Endeavor, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Kuhl Breeze Lil Less Talk, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, and the Dalmatian, CH Merry Go Round Coach Master. 

 Sunday Charlotte would be judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman’s BIS and the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Royaolarts Payola, her RBIS. Also making the final ring were the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles, the Akita, GCH CH Stardust's See You At The Show RN, the Colored Bull Terrier, Magor Galactic Agent, the Pug, GCH CH Pocket's Jato Jetliner, and the previously seen Dalmatian. 

Charlotte is the nation’s Number One Puli and Number Two Herding Dog with four BIS and 16 Herding Groups this year.

CHINTIMINI KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Rush Hill’s Murder Mystery JH 

The Pacific Northwest is hard to get to. However, we promise that once you’re there you will forget about the journey. The landscapes are awe inspiring, the food is fabulous, and almost every dog show has big points. 

This weekend exhibitors pursued the big points at the Chintimini Kennel Club’s two shows in Albany OR. Saturday’s final included the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill’s Murder Mystery JH, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Bakari’s Lor Vitra Caymus CGC, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Heartsease King Of The Jungle, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Pine River’s Show Me The Money, the Shih Tzu, Sommerset’s GI Joe, the Standard Poodle, CH Lakeridge Sovereign, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Wedgewood’s Abracadabra. 

Finishing one/two were the Golden and the Bedlington. It was the first BIS for the three year old Golden. Congratulations to breeder Kelsey Dun, breeders/owners Mark & Tonya Struble, and owner Christian Rutten.

On Sunday judge David Kittredge would see the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the same Ridgeback, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Talkeetna's Black Raven Of The North, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Prairietown Kittle-Bee Painted Lady, the Pug, CH Rose's Chantilly Lace, the Lhasa Apso, CH Kumi Kian Strike A Pose, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Kokopelli's Sobe It.

 Best went to the Field Spaniel, Gideon, Reserve to the Siberian, Raven, It’s the first of the year for Gideon who finished last year as the Number Sporting Dog with eight BIS and 33 Sporting Groups. Congratulations to breeder/owner Jane Kellar Schildman, co-breeder William Schildman, owners Jane Chopson, & Nicki Kuhn, and handler Laurie Jordan-Fenner.

FIRST TIMERS DOMINATE IN TEXAS

Texans were in Navasota TX , an hour northwest of Houston, this weekend for the Brazos Valley Kennel Club’s two shows. Judge Lorraine Bisso had the Saturday final and her choice of the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Bessdach Electric Martini, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast With Gusto, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, CH Aranisle Star Of San Jacinto, the Maltese, CH Rhapsody’s Someone Like You, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats The Gladiator, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River.

Day one went to the Corgi, Rebecca. Judge Bisso’s RBIS was the Great Swiss, Gus. It was the first BIS in five final appearances this year for Rebecca. Congratulations to breeders/owners Cynthia & Vincent Savioli, owner Roberta M Lord, and handler Sherri Hurst.

Rebecca, the aforementioned GSP, Dandie, Maltese, & Bulldog were all back on Sunday to see judge Tomas Gomez. They were joined by the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji, and the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah. Judge Gomez would go with the two newcomers giving the Doberman, Glory, the B IS and the Saluki, Ally, the RBIS.

It was also the first BIS for Glory. Congratulations to breeder/handler Linda George, co breeders Hillary Zimmerman & Rick George, and owners Jacqueline & Alan Wendt.

OES BACK2BACK BIS IN VEGAS

The Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, continued his pursuit of the Number One Dog All Breeds with Back2Back BIS in Las Vegas over the weekend. Swagger and breeder/owner/handler Colton Johnson were in Sin City for the Silver State Kennel Club’s two shows.

At the opener Swagger was joined in Dr John Reeve-Newson’s final by the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the RBIS, the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me , the Shih Tzu, CH Xeralane’s Music Lover, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Karmel’s Bananas In Pajamas.

On Sunday judge Linda Scanlon would consider the same Springer, Basenji, Cairn, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor High Flyin’ Gladiator, the Pug, Winsome-Nirvana’s Golden Eagle, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Jen’ndis Lyrical Dreams For Jo-Lyn, before naming Swagger her Best and the Cairn, Lexie, her Reserve winner. 

Swagger heads home with 19 BIS and 36 Herding Groups, some 2,000 points behind the Number One Dog, a margin that Swagger is very capable of overcoming in one weekend. Only here at Dog Show Poop will you find weekly updates of the race for Number One.

CLAREMORE KC OF OKLAHOMA

GCH CH Dytona VIP 

Judge Terry Stacy was in Claremore OK for the Saturday final of the hometown Claremore Kennel Club Of Oklahoma. He was greeted by the Curly-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Clarion’s Blackberry Bramble, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydachs Ride My Ducati, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, Je-Moreno Krispy Kreme, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just a Little Crush.

His BIS was the MiniBull, Simon, and his RBIS was the Curly Coat, Bramble. It was the first of the year in eight trips to the final ring for Simon and the first of the year for a Miniature Bull Terrier. Congratulations to breeders Claudia Lauber & Elisabeth Feuz, owners Marilyn Jacobs, Andrey Klishas & Elisabeth Feuz, and handler Susie Olivera.

Five of Saturday’s finalists would return to the final ring on Sunday, the Curly-Coat, the Dachshund, the Mastiff, the Chihuahua, and the Standard Poodle. Joining them in judge Edd Bivin’s ring were the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini and Rangel’s Rock n Rolla, and the Cardigan Welch Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

 It was the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog, the Poodle, Flame, with the BIS and the Wire Fox, Rocky, with the RBIS. Flame is currently the country’s Number Three Dog All Breeds with 11 BIS and 27 Non-Sporting Groups.

CLINTON IOWA KENNEL CLUB

CH Albridens The Show Must Go On 

Midwestern fanciers were in De Witt IA for this weekend’s Clinton Iowa Kennel Club shows. On Saturday judge Sandy Gunn’s seven finalists were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Albridens The Show Must Go On, the Whippet, CH Bohem Swan Song, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gameguard I’ll Have Another at Braeside, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Dunham Lake Scout Master, the Affenpinscher, CH Xela’s Party Hat, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Barnstorm To-Jo B’En Wicked @ Adominos by Dzine, the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatts Autumn Breeze.

Going to the front of the line was the Chessie, Aries. In the Number Two spot was the Affenpinscher, Hatti. Aries has a whole list of breed records: the youngest Chesapeake Bay Retriever Grand Champion (9 months), the youngest All-breed Best-in-show (1 year), the youngest Reserve Best In Show (16 months) and the only Chesapeake Bay Retriever to place in the Sporting Group at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. The win was the first of the year for Aries and owner/handler Diane Baker. Congratulations to Diane and breeder/owner Stephanie Larson.

Aries, Hatti, and the above named Whippet would return on Sunday for judge James Frederiksen’s final. Joining them were the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Cher Ami’s Toast With Remy Martin, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation. Judge Fredericksen would choose the StaffyBull, Ollie, as his BIS. Hatti would pick up her second RBIS of the set. It was Ollie second BIS in four final outings this year.

PACKERLAND KENNEL CLUB

The Packerland Kennel Club chose Manitowoc WI for their two shows this weekend and asked judge Steve Hayden to take the day one final. The seven he saw were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar’s Masterpiece, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Storm Kloud’s Test Of Time, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Symarun’s Endless Love, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri-Lee’s Stellar Performance, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom.

His Best was the Welsh Terrier, Jennie, and his Reserve was the Tibetan Terrier, Reese. Jennie is the country’s Number Three Terrier with two BIS and 19 Terrier Groups this season.

Sunday judge Gloria Kerr would get a mostly new seven, the English Setter, CH Stardom All Fired Up, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Citation’s First And Foremost, the Great Dane, GCH CH Gracyn Lost Creek The Descendant Of Elan, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Baliwick’s Honey Boo Boo, the Tibetan Terrier, Reese, and the above named Bouvier.

Finishing one/two were the Dandie, Angie, and the Toy Poodle, Honey Boo Boo. It was the first BIS for the seven year old bitch. Congratulations to breeders Sandra Wolfskill, Donna Francis, Sandra Pretari & Betty-Anne Stenmark, owner Donna Chambers-Raw, and handler Carlos Puig.

BACK2BACK BIS FOR SKYE TERRIER

The Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, left Newnan GA Sunday with both the weekend’s big rosettes. Yesterday’s win came at the Douglasville Kennel Club of Georgia show.

Challenging Charlie for judge Ruth Zimmerman’s favor were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell’s Kitchen, getting her second RBIS of the stop, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch of Malabo APD, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Vykon’s Kumata Heart’s On Fire RN CGC, the Long Coat Chihuahua, CH Matriart LG Muffin, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodside’s Megabucks. 

It was the third straight BIS for Charlie and handler Larry Cornelius. Charlie is the nation’s Number One Terrier and Number Seven Dog All Breeds with eight BIS and 26 Terrier Groups.

PWD BIS AGAIN IN NORTH CAROLINA

GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse 

The top Working Dog in AKC history continues to add to the record books. The Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, collected his 126th career BIS at yesterday’s Salisbury North Carolina Kennel Club show in Concord NC. 

Judge Warner Cespedes liked Matisse more than he did the German Shepherd Dog, CH Wonderland’s Force of Nature, whom he liked more than the Irish Setter, CH Militza’s My Cherie Amour, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH An Garda Deja Vu Looking at You, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tsao, or the Tibetan Spaniel, CH Kan Sing’s Po-Ba-Ri at Arundina. 

Matisse is the undisputed Number One Dog All Breeds with 30 BIS and 40 Working Groups this year.

SAMOYED BIS IN SYRACUSE

GCH CH Pebbles Run Play It Again Ham 

The Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles Run Play It Again Ham, ended Sunday where he began on Thursday in Syracuse NY, in the winner’s circle with the BIS rosette. Yesterday’s win came at the Central New York Kennel Club. 

Joining Bogey and handler Andrew Green in Betty-Anne Stenmark’s final were the RBIS, the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Sandpipers Castles in The Air, the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallam’s Jake of Arolet SC, the Newfoundland, CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Standard Poodle, CH Ale Kai Viola On Fifth, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

The two wins brings Bogey’s 2014 record to two BIS in three final appearances, making Bogey the Number One Samoyed in all breed points and the Number Six Working Dog.

We will start our Monday Morning Mop Up with another AKC record. The Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, became the winningest Toy Dog of all time Sunday, collecting her 129th Best In Show in Bakersfield CA. 

Also on hand in yesterday’s Kern County Kennel Club final were the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, GCH CH Javahill Surf2 An 8 Second Ride, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M’s Fear the Beard, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Meyer of Cominskey Park, judge Ann Hearn’s RBIS, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Regency’s Play For Keeps, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Regalia Delta Breeze at Joji LA, and the Puli, GCH CH Mt Hood’s Peak Perfection BN HT RA NAP.

SKYE BEST IN GEORGIA

Southern fanciers are in Newnan GA this weekend for the twos shows hosted by the Newnan Kennel Club and the Douglasville Kennel Club Of Georgia.

APD Judge Desmond Murphy had the opening day final and his pick of the Black Cocker Spaniel GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch of Malabo APD, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kinetic Cindy Lou Who, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodside’s Megabucks. 

Best went to the nation’s Number One Terrier, the Skye, Charlie. Reserve went to the Ridgeback, Raquel. That brings Charlie’s 2014 resume to seven BIS and 25 Terrier Groups.

The single biggest prize this week was Saturday’s North Country Kennel Club show in Syracuse NY. The seven dogs seeking those points were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Stoneypoints Time To Reign, the 15” Beagle, CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Dandelion’s Maxwel’s Silver Hammer RN, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Shi Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Schipperke, CH Mardeks The Sorcerers Son, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. 

CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble 

Dr John Iola’s BIS was the Beardie, Turner. His RBIS was the Beagle, Miss P. It’s the second BIS in 14 times in the final ring this year for Turner and handler Cliff Steele.

MINPIN TIES TOY RECORD

GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare 

The Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare became the second Toy Dog in AKC history to accumulate 128 Bests In Show, taking the top prize at yesterday’s Kern County Kennel Club show in Bakersfield CA.
