DELAWARE OHIO KENNEL CLUB 1

GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction
(Photo  by Adriano)

Over 1200 dogs were entered at today’s Delaware Ohio Kennel Club show in, where else, Delaware OH.   Dorothy Dalton’s line up today featured the Gordon Setter, CH Buteo’s Midnight Silence, the Pharaoh Hound, Mia-Bakhu Conspiracy Theory V Hallam Rottweiler, GCH CH Andel’s Steeler Nation, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Backroads to Paris, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.

Her BIS was the magnificent black Poodle, London.  The non show going Poodle often lacks appreciation for exhibition Poodles but we are convinced that if they could meet London, they would become converts.  Handler Ann Rairigh has lead London to 25 BIS & 70 Non Sporting Group first places.  Well done!

QUEENSBORO KENNEL CLUB

An early winter storm has interrupted the planned dog show calendar along the east cost of the US this weekend.  The Middleburg Kennel Club’s two shows in Leesburg VA were cancelled after the show grounds were transformed into an icy mud puddle.

However Mary Anne Brocious’  final at today’s Queensboro Kennel Club in West Springfield MA was indoors.  The seven she saw were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallam’s Ethan Ramel MC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CG D’s Devil wears Prada, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Maverston’s Double Dutch, the Toy Fox Terrier, Barbary Rough ‘n Ready, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Firetown’s Out of the Blue, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Best today was the GWP, Oakley.  Oakley and handler Phil Booth have been doing a lot of winning lately collecting four of their six BIS this year in the last 60 days.  There is a winter storm warning still in effect for tomorrows QKC show, but New England exhibitors are a tough lot and we expect the show will go on..

Everything comes to he who waits and we have been waiting for a while for these results from Springfield IL.

The big news is the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder, went home with the hat trick, three of the four big rosettes offered this past weekend.  At Friday’s Mattoon Kennel Club showed Elvis impressed Paula Hartinger more than the Brittany, GCH CH Star Flight Jumpin Jack Flash RN OAJ OA, the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader Bjorn Borg, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Newcastle's Picturesque Picasso, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Waybrooke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Backroads To Paris, or the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset's Satisfaction, did.

Saturday Elvis and breeder/owner/handler Jere Marder was Elliott Weiss’ pick over the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery Its In The Bag, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles Of Jatara, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Must Be Fate, the above named Smooth Fox, the Long Coat Chihuahua GCH CH Kokura Yama JP Emiro, and the aforementioned Poodle.

Sunday W Everett Dean Jr chose Elvis and not the previously named Golden, PBGV, or Standard Poodle, nor the Newfoundland, CH Windhaven's Here's A Story, Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, or Toy Fox Terrier, CH Prairie Farm Angel Eyes.

The big weekend leaves Elvis as the Number Four Herding dog with eight all breed Bests and a very impressive 70 Herding Group top prizes.

GO WEST, YOUNG MAN

Horace Greeley

We have a somewhat abbreviated schedule this week with our dog show emphasis shifting from the northern part of the US to the South & West.  If you live in the Northeast, your show options will be a weekend in West Springfield MA with the Queensboro Kennel Club, or a weekend in Delaware OH with the hometown Delaware Ohio Kennel Club.

Your choices are more plentiful in the South whether it be two in Leesburg VA hosted by the Middleburg Kennel Club, two in Marietta GA courtesy of  the Kennesaw Kennel Club, or a real vacation in beautiful Bayamon PR partying with the Ponce Kennel Club & the Caribe Kennel Club for four days starting tomorrow.  Our options in the Mid-South & Southwest are the Saline County Kennel Club Of Arkansas twofer in Benton AR  and the Travis County Kennel Club’s double header in Austin TX.

Fanciers will spend another long weekend in South Dakota, this time in Sioux City, where the Sioux Empire Kennel Club is doing three all breed shows starting Friday.  West Coast exhibitors follow the big week in Northern California with the Vancouver Kennel Club’s two in Ridgefield WA, the Sacramento Valley Dog Fanciers Association’s two in Dixon CA, and the Kennel Club Of Riverside’s two in Perris CA.

So whether you opt for fun in the sun in Puerto Rico or follow Horace Greeley’s advice and go west,  you can have a great time at an AKC dog show this week.
