DAY TWO IN TURLOCK CA


GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno 

When we last visited Turlock CA we told you that the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, was judge Cindy Vogel’s BIS and the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, was her RBIS at Friday's Golden Valley Kennel Club. Today judge June Penta would see it the other way round naming the Pom, Danny, her Best and the Basset, Tiger, her Reserve winner at the GVKC encore.

Rounding out her seven were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Jadestar Ride 'Em Cowboy, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor Flirt's Hi Flyin' Gladiator, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town, the Bulldog, Wilson’s I’m Your Handyman, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copper Hills No Reservations. Danny is AKC’s Number One Toy Dog and Number Six Dog All Breeds with 25 BIS and 72 Toy Groups this year.

The Agathon Kennel Club is hosting two shows in Tallmadge OH this weekend. Today’s show ended with judge Jon Cole in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Cove's Seabrook Enough Said, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini & Rangel's Rock N Rolla, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin’s Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

Going to the head of the line was the Springer, Randy, followed by the Shar-Pei, Tinsel. Randy is the nation’s Number One English Springer Spaniel and Number Four Sporting Dog with 13 BIS and 86 Sporting Groups this season.

It was déjà vu all over again in West Friendship MD as the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, added another BIS to his historic tally.

That The other six finalists at today’s Rock Creek Kennel Club show were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Icecream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, judge James Fredricksen’s RBIS, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow's Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Tk Rocks Runnig Like The Wind. 

Matisse’s record of 223 career BIS in the second highest in AKC history, eclipsed by only the German Shepherd Dog, CH Altana’s Mystique, who had 275. Matisse is this year’s Number One Dog All Breeds with 128 BIS and 166 Working Groups.

West Springfield MA was surprisingly above freezing today and the competition at today’s South Windsor Kennel Club show was downright sizzling.  Judge Bonnie Linnell Clarke seven finalists were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane “N” Blue Mondays Diamonds Are Decadent, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval’s Sweet Time, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Seagryph’s Sleeping With The Anemone, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

Taking home the BIS was the Beagle, Miss P, and collecting the RBIS, was the Boxer, Suri.  Miss P is the nation’s Number Two Hound with 15 BIS and 82 Hound Groups in 2014.

The country’s Number One Hound, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, started his weekend Friday with a BIS at the Montgomery Kennel Club show in the Alabama city.

Judge Beverly Capstick also considered the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Superman, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Man, her RBIS, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Escada Del Veintisiete At Qazara, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Calibre’s Gold Digger. Nathan is also the Number Ten Dog All Breeds with 23 BIS and 79 Hound Groups this year.

GOLDEN VALLEY KENNEL CLUB 1

The Golden Valley Kennel Club opened a four day set in California’s Sacramento Valley. The GVKC will do the first two days in Turlock CA and then the San Joaquin Kennel Club show will pick up the last two days in Stockton CA.

Judge Cindy Vogels had today’s final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor Flirts Hi Flyin Gladiator, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Mickywins Mainio Skandia CGC, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Kokopelli’s Sobe It. 

The two she liked were the Basset, Tiger, and the Pom, Danny. Tiger is the nation’s Number One Basset Hound and Number Seven Hound with three BIS and 21 Hound groups this season.

WINDHAM COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire 

With just seven venues offering all breed shows this week, spectators have a good chance of seeing some of the Top Twenty Dogs All Breeds at their local shows. The Country’s Number Three Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, operates out of Old Monroe MO, but was in West Springfield MA to take today’s Windham County Kennel Club’s BIS. 

GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble 

Flame was challenged for the win by the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, judge Clay Coady’s RBIS, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay's Big Sur, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Angarda Deja Vu Looking At You, the Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bagatelle Rolling Moon Stone. Flame is AKC’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog with 45 BIS and 116 Group Firsts this year.

ROCK CREEK KENNEL CLUB

The nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, collected his 222nd career BIS today at the Rock Creek Kennel Club show in West Friendship MD.

Judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman also considered the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch of Malabo APD, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia with Love, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the RBIS, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Po-Ba-Ri At Arundina, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Alexy Handsome Devil. 

Just three weeks from the end of the show season, Matisse and handler Michael Scott have tallied 127 and 165 Working Groups in 2014.

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh, collected back2back BIS this weekend at the Brazoria Kennel Club shows in Humble TX. Coco was judge Walter Sommerfelt’s Best on Sunday and the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, was his Reserve winner.

Our second Pacific Northwest offering this week was in Roseburg OR where the rogue Valley Kennel Club closed the four day set on Sunday with Betty Anne Stenmark in the final ring. 

The seven dogs she considered were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay it Forward, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Kadell’s Gold Dust W, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Heartsease King of the Jungle, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Regency’s Play For Keeps, the Papillon, GCH CH Titian’s Risky Business, the Maltese, GCH CH Scruffy's-Validian Busy Buzzing Around, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit Of Measure, and the Beauceron, GCH CH De Joie Du Chateau Rocher CA.

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up with the theme of the past week, BIS by a rare breed. We have been lucky enough to report BIS by a Beauceron and a Leonberger earlier. This morning we can tell you that the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sassy Lady Of Bluffs End, was judge Darryl Vice’s Best In Show at Sunday’s Whidbey Island Kennel Club show in Monroe WA. 

GCH CH PaRay Preferential 

Challenging Sassy for the win were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill's Drama'Geddon JH, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Southchase's Wilbert Roy, the Alaskan Malamute, Chikara's Don't Stop Believing, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian JP Rose Queen, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Lakeridge Atalanta Summer In Paris, and the RBIS, the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential. 

It was the first BIS for a Sealyham Terrier in three years. Congratulations to breeders/owners Mark & Joan Taggert and owner/handler Keith Jacobson, and owner Carolyn Echelbarger.

ENGLISH SETTER BEST IN OHIO

GCH CH Stargazer N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell 

Columbus OH drew the largest entries this week, with Sunday’s Central Ohio Kennel Club closer drawing more than 2,000 dogs. Taking home all those points was the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell.

Joining Teller in the final ring were the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Ansa Mo Caoimhin Modigliani CGC, judge Sheila DiNardo’s RBIS, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants on Fire, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. Teller is this year’s Number Two Sporting Dog with 16 BIS and 66 Sporting Groups.

SKYE GETS FOUR IN FLORIDA

The Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, had the best outing of all dogs competing this week, taking all four BIS available in Ocala FL. Today’s win came at the Greater Ocala Dog Club’s day two show.

Also seeking judge Francine Schwartz’ attention were the RBIS, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regime’s Thriller of Elmo, the Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Maibee Orlando, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Bret D’Gabriel’s Lost Art CD BN RAE RD CGCA, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Bilgay's Eye Of The Hurricane CD RN OA OAJ NF. Charlie ends the week with 31 BIS and 110 Terrier Groups.

CLUMBER BEST IN NORTH CAROLINA

GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit 

Judge Jacki Stacy chose the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit, as her BIS at Sunday’s Fayetteville Kennel Club in Concord NC. She also liked the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak of The Devil, whom she named her RBIS.

Also asking for consideration were the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Billie Jean, the Bulldog Imperious Hamitup Southern Belle, and the Finnish Lapphund, CH Lumiturpa Tapakka. 

Hobson is this year’s Number One Clumber Spaniel, and 11 Number Sporting Dog with three BIS and 26 Sporting Groups.

The marquee weekend in suburban Philadelphia wrapped with the Kennel Club Of Philadelphia’s Sunday encore. The seven dogs who stayed to the end to see BIS judge Thomas H Bradley III were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbleruns Play It Again Ham, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Signature, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Bulldog Imperious Hamitup Southern Belle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Steeler Nation.

Taking home his second consecutive BIS was the Bloodhound, Nathan, while the Peke, General Tso, grabbed the RBIS. Nathan is the country’s Number One Hound and Number Ten Dog All Breeds with 22 BIS and 78 Hound Groups in 2014.

SKYE TERRIER TURNS UP THE HEAT

We have observed these past seven year that things start to heat up at the end of the show year. The top dogs all seem to kick it up a notch much like the long distance runner at the end of the course. The country’s Number One Terrier, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Goodtime Charlie, is a perfect example. This weekend he has logged three straight BIS, the latest coming at yesterday’s Greater Ocala Dog Club show.

Also making judge Walter Pinsker were Charlie’s kennelmates, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regime’s Thriller of Elm, and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog's Major League Homerun at TX Star, who took the RBIS. Rounding out the seven were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Samoyed, White Magic’s Seasoned Traveler, the Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Maibee Orlando, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wonderland’s Force Of Nature. 

The Number Five Dog All Breeds now has 30 BIS and 109 Terrier Groups this year. Seven of those BIS have come within the last 30 days. Now that’s momentum.

RARE LEONBERGER BIS

GCH CH A Feiner Eros 

Earlier we told you that we had a rare Beauceron BIS in Monroe WA on Saturday. That was preceded by a rare Leonberger BIS in Concord NC at the Greater Monroe Kennel Club show. Judge Gary Basset picked GCH CH A Feiner Eros out of a seven that included the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhil Hell Raiser, his RBIS, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Standard Poodle, Hillwood Dassin Ouspenskaya, and the Briard, GCH CH Majestique Brave Heart.

It was the sixth BIS in 11 final appearances this year for Odin and handler Cheryl Cannon. Odin is one of only two Leonbergers to win a BIS since the breed’s recognition 2010. He holds the current breed record with seven career BIS.

Judge Lee Brown also considered the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Blondheim’s Easy Matters, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Icecream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), whom he gave the RBIS, the Standard Poodle, Cornouaille’s Mirror Mirror, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha'Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn. 

Suri is the country's Number Eight Working Dog with eight BIS and 22 Working Groups this year.

SATURDAY IN HUMBLE TX

The Brazoria Kennel Club opened their two day set in Humble on Saturday, asking judge Dr Alvin Krause to take the final ring. The seven dogs joining him were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Petit Basset GriffonVendeen, CH Jus A Ray Of Sunshine, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn’s Gm Freestyle Flyer, the Pug, GCH CH Bookmark’s Uncommonly Good, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto 

Finishing one/two were the Corgi, Coco, and the Greater Swiss, Gus. Coco is the nation’s Number Three Herding Dog with 12 BIS and 48 Herding Groups this year.

SHELTIE BIS IN WASHINGTON

GCH CH PaRay Preferential 

We first saw the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential, in Portland OR in 2012 when he won two of the four biggest shows of the year at the Rose City Classic. Saturday Satoshi and breeder/owner/handler Tray Pittman were in Monroe WA to collect a BIS at the Whidbey Island Kennel Club show.

Challenging Satoshi for the win were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill's Drama'Geddon JH, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Southchase's Wilbert Roy, the Alaskan Malamute, Chikara's Don't Stop Believing, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria’s Kid n Play, judge Muthard’s RBIS, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian JP Rose Queen, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Lakeridge Atalanta Summer In Paris. It was the sixth BIS in 20 trips to the final ring this year for Satoshi.
