CHIHUAHUA BIS AGAIN IN PR

Before we start with today’s shows, let’s catch you up on Friday’s events. The Smooth Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), added another BIS to his group leading total at yesterday’s Ponce Kennel Club show in San Juan Puerto Rico. 

Joining Sonnito in judge Frank Sabella’s final were his RBIS, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Aliiebeckscion Love On The Rocks, the 13” Beagle, CH Woodland West’s Mirror Mirror, the Boxer, GCH CH Windward & Happytail’s Gamechanger, the White Bull Terrier, Like a Virgin (Palafox) FCMK, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Xeralane’s Kid Rock, and the Australian Shepherd, Tanglewood’s Cyclone of Prestige. 

Sonnito’s 2014 resume now stands at 11 BIS and 18 Toy Groups.

PWD BIS IN WEST VIRGINIA

Col Joe Purkhiser had the day two final Friday in Morgantown WV and six of the day one finalists from which to choose his top two. 

GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly 

The returning dogs were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Icecream v Tum-Tums Uriendjes, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Teagan's Purple Rain, the Shih Tzu, Midnightdream Thril'f Victory, and the Tibetan Terrier, CH Aurora’s Welcome to the Jungle. The lone newcomer was the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly, who left the prior day’s BIS, the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travler Kelise Overdrive, who finished the day with a Group Three ribbon. 

Col Purkhiser’s top two were the Portie, Matisse, and the Aussie, Ember. It was the 38th BIS in 51 final appearances this year for Matisse, the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds.

CHIHUAHUA BIS IN PUERTO RICO

GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez) 

One dog show cluster that should be on every exhibitor’s bucket list is the Tropical Treat Cluster in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It’s a chance to mix the best of a Caribbean beach resort, some of North America’s oldest historical sites, and four dog shows. 

GCH CH Xeralane’s Kid Rock 

Thursday’s Caribe Kennel Club final was in the hands of judge Shirley Limoges. The day one finalists were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Aliiebeckscion Love On The Rocks, the 13” Beagle, CH Woodland West’s Mirror Mirror, the Boxer, GCH CH Windward & Happytail’s Gamechanger, the White Bull Terrier, Arnold’s Great White Shark, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Xeralane’s Kid Rock, and the Australian Shepherd, Tangelwood’s Cyclone of Prestige. 

 Her Best was the Chihuahua, Sonnito, and her Reserve was the Lhasa, Kid. The Chihuahua form Mexico has been on a tear since taking up residence in the US and currently has ten BIS and 17 Toy Groups to his credit.

Our first report of the week comes in from Morgantown WV where the South Hills Kennel Club opened the four day long Black Diamond Cluster.

We finish up our weekend reports with Monday’s Catoctin Kennel Club in Timonium MD. Judge Beth Speich had the final final and the company of the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Bayaway Jersey’s Due Process Of Law, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow’s Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, the Bulldog, Tango Dulin Picture Perfect, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

Going to the front of the line were the two kennel mates from Florida, the Skye, Charlie, and the Cocker, Gordon. Charlie is AKC’s Number One Terrier and Number Seven Dog All Breeds with ten BIS and 31 Terrier Groups this year so far.

When last we visited Louisiana the Shreveport Kennel Club had just wrapped their two days in Bossier City LA, making way for the D’Arbonne Kennel Club’s Saturday and Sunday shows.

Judge Elizabeth Muthard had the Sunday final and her pick of the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Farao Anubis Inferno, the greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Taste with Gusto, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Maltese, CH Scruffys-Validian Busy Buzzing Around, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit 

Finishing one/two were the Corgi, Coco, and the Bichon, Bingo. Coco is the country’s Number One Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Number Sporting Dog with two BIS and 17 Herding Groups.

On Monday judge Judy Webb would see five of Sunday’s finalists and the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachias Allamyrra Hajji, & the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop. Packing up the last awards of the weekend were the Clumber, Hobson, and the Glen of Imaal, Ned. It was the first for Hobson in 12 trips to the final ring this year. Congratulations to breeders Clussexx Kennel, Jamie Hubbard, & Michael & Shirley Lambert, owners Joseph Sanchez III & Carla Sanchez, and handler Jorge Olivera.

LEWIS-CLARK KENNEL CLUB

The Lewis-Clark Kennel Club had the Sunday and Monday spots in Lewiston ID. Sunday saw judge Dr Alvin Krause in the final ring with the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Basenji, Khani’s Teazer Last Friday Night, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Peace River’s Gathers No Moss At Sunstra, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Sierra's Ground Zero, the Havanese, GCH CH Peluito's Papi Chulo, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Country Luvz A Rockstar, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Wedgewood’s Abracadabra.

Collecting his second BIS of the stop was the Brittany, Beckett. The RBIS went to the Havanese, Papi. Beckett is the Number One Brittany, the Number One Sporting Dog, and the Number Six Dog All BreedS withsix BIS and 22 Sporting Groups.

Beckett would be back on Monday to see BIS judge Ann Hearn along with the above named Malamute, AmStaff, and Havanese. Joining them were the Harrier, GCH CH Pacific Happytail’s Heartbreaker, the Standard Poodle, CH Lakeridge Sovereign, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Maximum Altitude. 

 Judge Hearn would like the AmStaff, Trigger, for the BIS and Becket, the Brittany, for the RBIS. Trigger finishes the four day stop with four Group Ones, two RBIS, and his very first BIS. Congratulations to breeder/owner Lorene Wilson, owner Ruth Sampson, and handler Randy T Benns.

In Northern California fanciers were on San Francisco Bay’s north shore for the Chief Solano Kennel Club’s Sunday show in Vallejo CA. 

GCH CH Topaz Bad Action 

The seven dogs vying for BIS judge Lowell Davis’ attention were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Sleepy Hollow Carolina Special, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Regency’s Playing for Keeps, the Pekingese, CH Oakhill’s Caught Red Handed, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Hallmark Turbo Charged Lexus, and the Puli, GCH CH Mt Hood’s Leapin’ Linni of Tordor. 

Best went to the Field Spaniel, Gideon, and Reserve to the Siberian, Reese. It was the second BIS this year in 13 final appearances for the nation’s Number Four Sporting Dog.

GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno 

We wing on out to the West Coast for a report on Sunday’s Angeles Canyon Dog Club show where we had another back2back BIS performance. The Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, was judge Debbie Campbell-Freeman’s top dog followed by her RBIS, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring.

Rounding out her seven were the Whippet, CH Winway Ramona, the Boxer, CH Hi Jinx This Is How I Roll, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Redclouds Chowlamar Big Daddy, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Love’n Stuff Summertime Blues. 

 Danny is the nation’s Number One Pomeranian, Number Two Toy Dog, and Number Five Dog All Breeds with seven BIS and 16 Toy Groups.

GCH CH LTO Prosperity

We don’t get to report a BIS by an English Toy Spaniel often, much less back2bck BIS by that breed.  On Sunday, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, made it two in a row, taking the top award at the Grand Island Kennel Club’s day two show in that Nebraska town

Our next report comes in from Fond du Lac WI where the hometown kennel club finished up their two day set on Sunday. BIS judge Janie Bousek chose the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Cher Ami’s Toast With Remy Martin as her Best In Show.

The Bloomington Indiana Kennel Club closed the big four day set in Terre Haute IN on Sunday. The last to leave the show grounds were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Great Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Little Mtn’s 1 Shot Deal From Windy Knob, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Papillon, GCH CH Fenice Le Beudreux, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Serenade Renaissance Live It Up, and the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Kyon’s Bold Norseman.

Judge Shellie Marshall’s BIS was the Dandie, Angie, and her RBIS was the Bloodhound, Nathan. It was the second of the stop for Angie and handler Carlos Puig. Angie is the only Dandie to win an AKC all breed BIS in the last five years and she now has three in seven final appearances this year.

It was the Central Ohio Kennel Club’s turn Sunday to host in Columbus OH and judge Diane Malenfant’s turn to choose a BIS and RBIS.

Her options were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Seafarers Red Hot And Green, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Foxfire Full Force Gale, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Davik’s Snowstorm Gussit, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Adiebabes Griffin In Sanherpinc, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Stratford's Rose De France, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Sultry Sensation. The two she chose were the Wire Fox, Griffin, and the Yorkie, Rosie. 

It was the first BIS for Griffin. Congratulations to breeders Adrienne J Logan & Harry Logan and owner/handler Santiago Pinto.

Next we go to Zolfo Springs FL for the Heartland Dog Club of Florida’s Sunday show. Lining up for BIS judge were the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Cornerstone’s Big Game James, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the Black Russian Terrier, GCH CH Malahovskiy Graf Rossiyskiy CD CGC RAE CA, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Ciarrai’s Beltane Embers, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kaylen’s Kahlua, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Targa Talk About Kaylens, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Sunburst One Cool Dude.

Judge Terry Lyddon continued the big weekend in Timonium MD calling Sunday’s final for the Baltimore County Kennel Club show. The seven dogs she considered were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydachs Ride My Ducati SW, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan's To Russia With Love, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Silho (Sanchez), the Miniature Poodle, Bellefleet’s Living in the Fast Lane, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

 It was the smallest among them getting the big prize, the Chihuahua, Sonnito. The Scottie, Knopa, took the Reserve ribbon back to the set up. Sonnito has been one of the most consistent dogs this year, collecting nine BIS and 16 Toy Groups.

We begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in New England where the South Windsor Kennel Club closed the three day set in West Springfield MA.

The seven who stayed to the end for judge Mary Ann Alston were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Scottish Deerhound, Hobarra's I Dreamed A Dream, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca's Trade Secret, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Bluestone Mirror Mirror, the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Geribob Salishan To The Manor Born, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber. 

Picking up his second BIS of the stop was the Peke, General Tso. The Akita, Trader, took home the RBIS. The General now has two BIS and seven Toy Groups to start his specials career.

BLOODHOUND LEADS HOUND GROUP

Day three in Terre Haute IN was day two for the hometown Kennel Club, who asked judge Bill Shelton to take the final ring. 

The dogs who waited all day to see judge Shelton were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Cane Corso, GCH CH Red Rock Canyon’s Pretty Boy, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Randalets Wok N In Sunshine, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Serenaide Renaissance Live It Up, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgable The Frat Boy.

Going to the head of the line was the Bloodhound, Nathan, followed by the Dandie, Angie. The win, Nathan’s fourth BIS in 22 trips to the final ring this year, will put him back at the top of the Hound Group. It’s a great year for scent hounds…hey, it’s a great year for dogs!

The Fond du Lac County Kennel Club was in that Wisconsin city for their Saturday shows. The day one final featured judge Douglas Taylor and the Golden Retriever, CH Forever’s All Jacked Up CGC, the Basenji, GCH CH Laurel S’Simply Shocking Sabrina, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'Ll Have Another V Braeside, the West Highland White Terrier , CH Mac Ken Char’s One Man Band at Shaireign, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Baliwick Honey Boo Boo, the Keeshond, CH Dreamwoods On The Rocks, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom.

His Best was the Rottweiler, Indy. His Reserve was the Golden, Whiskey. It’s the first BIS in ten trips to the final ring this year for Indy owner/handler Holly Eldred. Congratulations to Holly and breeders Listle Friede, Vicky Obrien, Vicky Weaver, & Dr Bach.

TOY SPANIEL BIS IN NEBRASKA

This weekend we have a rare opportunity to report a Nebraska show. The Grand Island Kennel Club is hosting two in their Nebraska hometown.

Judge Pat Trotter had the Saturday BIS call. Her options were the Pointer, CH Solovia’s Dexterity At Sky Hi, the Norwegian Elkhound, CH Aspen’s It Takes A Thief, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the Skye Terrier, CH Royalist Son Knight I Kulbreeze, the Kin Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpet’s No Questions Asked, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatt's Autumn Breeze. 

 Collecting the top awards were the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity, who took the BIS, and the Mastiff, Aji. It was the first BIS of the year for Prosperity in 20 trips to the final ring. Prosperity is the Number one King Charles and Ruby English Toy Spaniel and the Number Six Toy Dog. Congratulations to breeder/owner Mark A Landers, owners Ray J Cole & & Susan M Carter, and handler Jeff L Wright.

CORGI BIS IN LOUISIANA

 Our next stop is in Bossier City LA, a quaint little hamlet that’s just a pleasant ride from Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Saturday was day two for the Shreveport Kennel Club and judge Alice Inman’s turn to call the BIS.

 Hoping to gain judge Inman’s favor were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza’s My Cherie Amour, the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business, the Glen Of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Japanese Chin, CH Touche’s Bravado, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush. 

The two that succeeded were the Corgi, Etta, and the Saluki, Hajji. Once again we have an outstanding crop of Corgis this year. Etta leads all Pembroke Welsh Corgis with two BIS and 12 Herding Groups this season.

Judge Norm Patton chose his top two from a seven that included the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, the Boxer, GCH CH Hi Jinx This Is How I Roll, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Mickywins Mainio Skandia, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Wigglesworth Thriller.

Friday’s RBIS, the Pom, Danny, was Saturday’s BIS. Saturday’s RBIS was the Springer, Maddox. Danny started the year as the nation’s Number One Toy Dog and hopes to regain that title soon with six BIS and 15 Toy Groups so far this year.
