POODLE GETS ANOTHE IN NEW PALTZ

GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen 

The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, picked up her second BIS of the weekend at today’s Mid-Hudson Kennel Association show in New Paltz NY. Judge Roland Pelland’s RBIS was the Pomeranian, GCH CH Zeigen Aurora Australis. 

Rounding out his seven were the Vizsla, GCH CH Lorac's Cap'n Jack Sparrow, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creeks Double Or Nothing For Heather, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Avalon Bey's Little Bit Of Thunder CGC, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, and the Bearded Collie GCH CH Classical's My Turn. 

Marcie now has two BIS and 16 Non-Sporting Groups this year. Look for this one this summer.

IRISH SETTER BIS IN RUSH NY

GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour 

The Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, was judge Alfred Ferruggiaro Best In Show at today’s Genesee Valley Kennel Club in Rush NY. 

 Joining her in the final ring were the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay's Big Sur, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH WyrLake Foxhollow Mirror Mirror, the King Charles & Ruby English Toy Spaniel, CH Eliza Jeann De La Rivieroise, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and Reserve winner, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Keylis Spotlite Just Do It. 

Adele is the nation’s Number One Irish Setter and Number 14 Sporting Dog with two BIS and 20 Sporting Groups this year.

SHIH TZU REPEATS HAT TRICK

The Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, collected his second consecutive hat trick today, taking the Best In Show today at the Penobscot Valley Kennel Club show in Cumberland ME.

Joining Rocket in judge Roger Hartinger’s final were the RBIS, the Brittany, GCH CH Triumphant's As Good As It Gets JH, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Boxer, GCH CH Shadigee's Sequel To Legends, the Colored Bull Terrier, Notorious Never Say Never, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Foxmoor Petite Cherie Jardin D'Eden, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Bramley's Green Mountain Boy. 

 Rocket has nine BIS and 25 Toy Groups this year. Seven of those BIS have come this month.

GCH CH Woodside's Megabucks 

Judge Brian Meyer was in Richmond VA for today’s Virginia Kennel Club final. The seven dogs that were seeking his favor were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Icecream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Akita, GCH CR-Wicca's Trade Secret, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Beauty & Beat, the Dalmatian ,GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodside's Megabucks.

 His BIS was the GSD, Megabucks, and his RBIS, the PBGV, Scoop. Megabucks is this year’s Number Three Herding Dog with 12 BIS and 24 Herding Groups.

OES BEST IN ORLANDO

Our Top Two Dogs All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, returned to Orlando FL for today’s Central Florida Kennel Club show, but only one would make it to judge Doris Cozart’s final. The PWD, Matisse, would end the day with a Group Two behind the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent. 

GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill

Joining the Boxer, Suri, and the OES, swagger, at the end of the day were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar’s Masterpiece, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjà vu I want’s Talk About Me, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Luminary Black Velvet Bejeweled With Pearls. 

Swagger would take the BIS and the Cocker, Alan, his second consecutive RBIS.  The win, Swagger’s 38th BIS in 69 final attempts this year, will put Swagger 1000 points closer to the Number One Matisse.

Dr Gary Sparschu chose his top two from the Gordon Setter, CH Raggededge Joyride To Kericreek, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Siberian Husky, CH Dynasty's Husky Lucky Strike, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Loneacre's Grand Slam, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin's Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, the Bulldog, GCH CH KR Emperor Pyrus, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

They were his BIS, the Bouvier, Blue, and his RBIS, the Beagle, Miss P. It was the second BIS in 21 final appearances this year for the country’s Number Ten Herding Dog.

SCORCHING HOT SUMMER

The country’s Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, has been scorching the competition this summer. Her latest BIS came Friday at the Anoka County Minnesota Kennel Club show in Cambridge MN.

Challenging Flame for the win were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, judge Randy Garren’s RBIS, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Coves Seabrook Enough Said, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. Flame now has 23 BIS and 60 Non-Sporting Groups on the year. Five of the BIS and 13 of the groups have come this month.  Now that's hot.

AMSTAFF BIS IN GREAT FALLS MT

The Montana Marathon moved to Great Falls MT on Friday for the Electric City Kennel Club’s opener. Judge JoAnn Dutton had the day one final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Kelleyz Black Denim and Motorcycle Boots, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Sierra’s Ground Zero, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk Imagine That, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Napachai Hilsman Throw Caution To The Wind, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential.

Going to the head of the line was the AmStaff, Trigger, followed by the Pharaoh Hound, Farley. It was the second BIS this year in six final appearances for Trigger.

His options were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmarke Investigator, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Komondor, GCH CH Quintessential Chauncey, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Est Etiam Junctus Maximus At Arily, the Havanese, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm It's Good To Be The King, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

Our well-traveled Top Two Dogs All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo's Picture Perfect, were both in Orlando FL today for the Brevard Kennel Club show and both made it to judge Catherine Bell’s final.

Joining them were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown's Time To Thrill, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Leoralee's Baywatch MW, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want'A Talk About Me, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpet's Gimme Back My Bullets. 

Judge Bell’s Best was the Chinese Crested, Toby. Her Reserve winner was the Cocker, Alan. We think that Toby can mark this win the most impressive yet of the three BIS and 13 Toy Groups he has so far this year.

The aptly named Rocket Man has been at supersonic speed this summer with five BIS in a row, with eight total BIS and 24 Toy Groups this season.

Cambridge MN is the site of this week’s Summer Soltice Cluster, a four day set hosted by the Anoka County Minnesota Kennel Club and the Cambridge Minnesota Kennel Club. The ACMKC has the first two days, putting judge Bonnie Linnell Clarke on Thursday.

The seven dogs she considered were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Sastya’s Eleven Eleven, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Cove’s Seabrook Enough Said, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier , CH King’s Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo the King of Pop, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Heiress. Thursday was day three of the Montana Marathon and the Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club’s last day in Billings MT. Rocket and Luke now have four BIS in a row and seven on the year in 23 final appearances.

Judge Laurie King Telfair super seven were the English Cocker, Spaniel, GCH CH Dawnglow Knight Rider, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet's Annie El Encanto, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Piccadil's Twist And Shout CD BN RN RA RE, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly.

Taking the BIS was the Poodle, Marci. Collecting the RBIS was the Boxer, Annie. It was the first BIS this year for Marci in 14 trips to the final ring. SPRINGER HAVING A GREAT MONTH

GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me 

The English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, finished his trek through Idaho last week with a BIS, three RBIS, and six Sporting Groups. This week he is in Montana. Collecting a BIS at Wednesday’s Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club in Billings. 

Also vying for judge Lewis Bayne’s final were his RBIS, the 13” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Interlude, the Samoyed, CH Polar Mist Midnight Delight, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua , GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the American Eskimo Dog, CH Sierra’s Hallmark, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi , CH Coventry Swinging On A Star. Seemore is rapidly climbing up the rankings with three BIS and 18 Sporting Groups.

MONTANA MARATHON BEGINS!

One of the dog world’s most ambitious clusters is what we call the Montana Marathon, eight all breed shows in eight consecutive days in three Montana cities, Billings, Great Falls, & Missoula.

At Tuesday’s Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club opener in Billings MT judge Sue-Ellyn Rempel had the final and her choice of the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Afghan Hound, CH Shekinah Jakar Pamir The Seeker, the Akita, GCH CH Stardust’s See You At The Show, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Bulldog, GCH CH Sweet Beach’s Alan Runs The Wrecker, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Coventry Swinging On A Star. 

She named the Brittany, Beckett, her BIS and the Chihuahua, Sonnito, her RBIS. Beckett is the nation’s Number One Sporting Dog and the Number Four Dog All Breeds with ten BIS and 36 Sporting Groups this year.

DALMATIAN CLUB OF AMERICA

Considering we report out on more than 1500 all breed shows each year, we don’t get to tell you about many of the national breed clubs’ specialties. In our inbox today we received the results last month’s Dalmatian Club of America’s 2014 National Specialty in Portland OR. 

Judge Susan MacMillian’s Best of Breed was GCH CH Planett's Star Reporter. Other awards included the Best of Opposite Sex, GCH CH Centurion Anticipation Charming Dalfield. The class awards went to the Winners Dog & Best of Winners, Sweetspots Set Fire to Reign, and the Winners Bitch Onsengeltje All Ready. 

Just two years old, the group winning breed winner, Brinkley, is a multiple specialty winner. Congratulations to breeders/owners Barbara & Ed Barrett and handler Kristin Lyons.

The seven dogs he saw were the Brittany, GCH CH Premier’s All About Avatar, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Paradise Bette Davis Eyes, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor's Flirt's Hi Flyin' Gladiator, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Mistli, and the Bouvier des Flandres , GCH CH Quiche Kari Without Kompromise.

The Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, was in Texarkana AR to take in the hometown kennel club’s two shows this weekend. Trader was the last to leave on Sunday after collecting the Best In Show from judge Polly Smith. 

Also seeking judge Smith’s favor were the Vizsla, CH Renaissance XXX’s and OOO’s, her RBIS, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Kerryarc Breawyn Ffynnon Garw, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Thunderwood’s First Robin of Spring, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Dojo’s Suikoden Tenmei, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH R-Lee Sparkle Plenty, and the German Shepherd Dog, Neo’s Quincy Trinity. 

Trader is the nation’s Number Two Working Dog and Number Ten Dog All Breeds with nine BIS and 25 Working Groups.

BEAGLE BEST IN OHIO

CH Torquay Midnight Victory 

Judge Tim Catterson was in Troy OH to call the BIS at Sunday’s Echo Hills Kennel Club of Ohio show. The seven dogs he considered were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Dublin Diva, the 13” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the St Bernard, GCH CH Glidden’s Lady Isabella, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Sharieab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Homestead Zoey of Treyacres, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has it V Kenlyn.

The two he chose were the Beagle, Victoria, and the Welsh Terrier, Jennie. It was Victoria’s second of the year in six final attempts.

BLOODHOUND BACK2BACK BIS

The country’s Number One Hound, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, continued moving up the rankings with a Back2Back BIS performance this weekend. 

The latest win came at Sunday’s Greater Clarksburg WV Kennel Club show in Morgantown WV, Joining Nathan in judge Marjorie Martorella’s final were the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Windy Hill Dance to the Music JH, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Vraiment Parfait , the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Caledonian Tea Time of Wolfpit, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), her RBIS, the Bichon Frise, CH Barberry’s Take A Chance On Me, and the Entlebucher Mountain Dog, Obediah of Wildhorn. 

It was the 12th BIS in 35 final appearances this year for Nathan and handler Heather Helmer. It was also the seventh BIS in the last four weekends for the pair. Now that’s impressive.

PUG BIS IN NORTH CAROLINA

The seven dogs gathered at the Western Carolina Dog Fanciers Association final in Waynesville NC to plead their case with judge Charles Olvis were the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Leonberger, GCH CH Sforzando’s Fioritura, the Miniature Bull Terrier, CH VIP’s Playtime Prince, the Pug, GCH CH Warpug Black and Blue Reme, the French Bulldog, CH Crown’s Famous Amos, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks.

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Topsfield MA where the Middlesex County Kennel Club closed the three day set with judge Levi Marsman in the final ring with the English Setter , GCH CH Sleep Hollow’s Scarlett O’Hara, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, the Siberian Husky, CH Myla’s Jet Ski, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Br'Er Fox Philippa Of Hunterston , the Pug, GCH CH Charchen’s Billy The Kid, the Standard Poodle, CH Bar-None Picture Book, and the GCH CH Classical's My Turn CGC CGN HIC.

TOP THREE SET THE BAR

We wonder if fanciers realize just how unusual this season is.  We cannot recall when the sport’s top competitors have maintained such a high level of excellence.  For the second consecutive weekend, our Top Three Dogs All Breeds have dominated the shows at their respective locations.

The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, the Number Three Dog’s weekend consisted of a pair of BIS performances at the Little Fort Kennel Club of Waukegan’s two shows on Friday and Sunday in Grayslake IL.   Today’s win under judge Michael Dougherty was against the English setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the RBIS, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeens Under The Influence, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'll Have Another V Braeside, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Huntcrest Rumor Has It, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Clarion Nightline II.   The two wins brings Flame’s 2014 record to 22 BIS and 58 Non-Sporting Groups.

Out in Blackfoot ID, our Number Two Dog, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, ended the week with five straight BIS and an RBIS in six trips to the final ring in three Idaho cities.  Today’s win came at the Eagle Rock Kennel Club show in Blackfoot ID.   Joining Swagger in DrJose Luis Payro were the English springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Akita, GCH CH Sondaisa Fyre When Ready, the Scottish Terrier, Gyver Original Sin, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà vu, and the Boston Terrier, CH Naughty Norteno’s Clik Clik Bang.

The Number One Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, closed out his weekend collecting his fourth straight BIS in Tampa FL at Sunday’s St Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association show.  Challenging Matisse for the win were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen, judge Jon Cole’s RBIS, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Leorallee’s Bay Watch MW, the Cane Corso, GCH CH Dolcetto Dionysus of Garritani CGC, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Wrightwyn’s Power Play, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Abbapoola’s Mr Slice of Life, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpet’s Gimme Back My Bullets, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Lakehill’s Creme Brulee.  Matisse finishes the week with 61 BIS and 79 Working Groups.

The hockey season is over with the Los Angeles Kings claiming the Stanley cup, but the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, posted his own hat trick in Traverse City MI, sweeping all three of the Grand Traverse Kennel Club’s shows.   BIS judge Joan Scott also considered from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Front Page News, her RBIS, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Shoreviews Raise Your Glass, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Bulldog, GCH CH Just Lonestar Bright Lights Big City, and the Old English Sheepdog, Aryakas Phoenix.

Rocket Man and breeder/owner/handler Luke Ehricht had a late start this year, but are moving up the rankings with six BIS in 22 final appearances this year. Check with us midweek and we will tell you just how far they’ve come.

Our first Sunday report comes in from Ludwigs Corner PA where the Bryn Mawr Kennel Club wrapped their two day stop with judge Kathy Beliew calling the Best In Show. Her seven hopefuls were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Scottish Deerhound, Lehigh Guilty Pleasure, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Lorals Trooper, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH An Garda Deja Vu Looking At You, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow’s Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, CH Ponadto Amarant. GCH 

CH Lorals Trooper 

Going to the front of the line was the Xolo, Armani, followed by the RBIS, Rottweiler, Trooper. It was the third BIS in 15 final appearances for the Armani and handler Gwen Demilta.

The only West Coast dog show this weekend is the Bahia Sur Kennel Club’s two shows all the way down on the Mexican border, in Chula Vista. The seven dogs lined up for BIS judge were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Cougar Hill Archetype Amefufuka, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor's Flirt's Hi Flyin' Gladiator, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Xoloitzcuintli, Mistli, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Wigglesworth Thriller.

The two he liked were the Pom, Danny, and the Rottweiler, Pilot. Danny is the nation’s Number One toy Dog and Number Five Dog All Breeds with nine BIS and 28 Toy Groups this year.

BOXER BIS IN TEXARKANA

Here in the Mid-South our nearest dog show is in that geographically schizophrenic town of Texarkana where the hometown kennel club is camped on the Arkansas side for two days. 

Yesterday’s final saw Dr Robert Smith pondering the English Cocker Spaniel , CH Ranzfel Kid Me Not, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, CH Houla’s Potter, the Boxer, CH Cherkei’s Dick Tracey, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom’s Classified Credentials, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Dojo’s Suikoden Tenmei, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Arrowhill Swords Held High. 

He would name the Boxer, Henry, Best and the nine month old Chin puppy dog his Reserve. It’s the second this year for Henry and handler Michael Shepherd.
