Best went to the Siberian, Stacey. A multiple BIS winner, it’s Stacey’s first BIS of 2010. Congratulations to breeders Jim & Lynn Dagen & C Coomes and owners Dr & Mrs David K Qualls. NEW AKC BIS WINNER IS NO NEWBIE
Michael Dachel had the BIS book at Salina Kennel Club show in Valley Center KS. Friday Group winners returning for a second look were the Pharaoh Hound, Northgate's As You Like It, the Wire Fox Terrier CH Dalriada's Mystic, & yesterday’s BIS winner, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers. They were joined by the a 8-month-old Golden Retriever from the puppy classes, Goldrush Troubador, the Samoyed, Ch. T-Snow Star's Journey of the Heart, the French Bulldog, CH Robobull Fabelhaft I'm On Fire, and the Australian Sheperd, CH Clemwood's Nobel Laureate.
Best went to the Swedish import, the Pharaoh Hound, Qing, his first AKC BIS, Also from the classes, but hardly a newbie, Qing, was the top dog in Sweden in 2007, BIS at the 2007 World Dog Show, and winner of the Hound Group at Crufts in 2009 & 2010. Congratulations to breeder Hanna Ukura, owners Jennifer Mosing & Jenny Hall, and handler Brian Livingston.
The show also featured a special Junior Handler competition in memory of Walter Bebout, who grew up in Wichita KS. Walter started his career in dogs as a junior handler sand went on to become a professional handler and an AKC judge. He also served as an AKC conformation field representative and AKC Director of Canine Legislation before retiring in 2008. The Sunflower Cluster shows and the Central Region Top Junior Handler Competition are dedicated to Walt's memory. The scholarship winner was Kelli Denton showing her 2-year-old Keeshond. Kelli will receive a prize of at $1,500. The other finalists were Jennifer Nocker with her English Setter, Alyssa Grosnickle with her Golden Retriever, Chandler Coon and his Rottweiler, Ciara Cassell, showing her Basenji, Breanne Kuehler with her Shiba Inu, and Colston Couch and his Australian Cattle Dog.. The finalists came from a 15-state region and had to win at least two Open wins with competition. Congratulations to them all. With kids like these our beloved sport has a bright future. Our thanks to Nickie Flynn for bringing this special competition to our attention.

He saw the Golden Retriever, CH Gaia Of Yoshida Enterprise, the Basset Hound, CH Blossomhil's Mamma Mia, day one BIS winner, the Boxer, CH Duba-Dae's Who's Your Daddy, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Silky Terrier, CH Safire Rock It To The Stars, the Bichon Frise, CH Paray's Rime Time, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber. His Best was the Smooth Fox, Adam. Handler Eddie Boyes has lead Adam to a top twenty all breed berth and the number two Terrier spot. Today’s win was the third in the last 30 days for a total of four this year.

We don’t have all the details, but we do know that the Whippet, CH Starline’s Chanel, ran away with the big rosette in Glendale AZ today at the Kachina Kennel Club event courtesy of Robert Whitney. We also hear that the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, was Gene Blake’s choice for BIS at today’s Birmingham Kennel Club show in Columbiana AL. It’s been some day for the Toy Dogs.
MASSACHUSETTS FRIDAY RESULTS
The Trap Falls Kennel Club asked Theresa Hundt to command the final ring today in West Springfield MA. She had her choice of the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Whippet, CH Hi Tor Rippleton Romeo, a 10 month old Doberman Pinscher from the puppy dog classes, D's Remember When, who bested the country’s number three dog all breeds, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, in the Working Group. (We can’t wait to see this one!), the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Pekingese, CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Tibetan Spaniel, CH Tibroke's Kissed By A Star, and the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.
Her Best was the nation’s Number One Toy Dog, the Peke, Malachy. We have it as BIS number eight for Malachy and owner/handler David Fitzpatrick. Malachy is currently the number four dog all breeds. Our top five is starting to tighten up.
HUTCHINSON KC RESULTS
Elliott Weiss had a superlative seven today at the Hutchinson Kennel Club in Valley Center KS. They were the German Short Haired Pointer, CH Fieldfines Pure Gold, the Pharoah Hound Northgate's As You Like It, the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset Stealing Time, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Dalriada's Mystic RN, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Bichon Frise, CH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Belgian Tervuren, CH Tocara's Touchstone Takoda. His Best In Show was the Country’s Number Two Toy Dog, the Shih Tzu, Austin. That’s all breed BIS number seven for Austin. Look for him to rejoin the top ten all breed.

ROUGHING IT
We have a busy dog show week ahead with 32 all breed shows in 13 different locations. It all starts tomorrow in Merced CA, gateway to one of the world’s most magnificent sites, Yosemite National Park. The Yosemite Kennel Club & Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club will team up for four shows.

Her seven hopefuls were the Irish Water Spaniel, CH Poole's Ide Bonnie Brook, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Flashdance Roan Inish, the Boxer CH Duba-Dae's Who's Your Daddy, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Fortuna De Aiedkii's, the Havanese, CH Bellatak McDreamy, the Keeshond, CH Summerwinds's Silcilian Delight RN NAJ, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Cottonwood Pretty In Pink. She chose the four year old OES bitch, Andi. We believe this is not only her first BIS this year, but her first group. Congratulations to breeders/owners Diana & Robert Caswell.

On Saturday in Las Vegas Muriel Purkhiser opened the two day set for the Silver State Kennel Club with the Weimaraner, CH Silhouettes LifeInTheFastlane, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Desert Dune At Curiann, the Boxer, CH R And G's Mystical Dancer, the Welsh Terrier, CH Bayleigh Shaireab's Super Hero, the Silky Terrier, CH My Royal Rebel Hans Solo, the Standard Poodle, CH Penndrangon Masaniello, and the Australian Cattle Dog, CH Carben Copy's If The Shoe Fits. The big rosette went to the Welsh Terrier, Spyder, his third this year and his second in the last week.
Sunday, Spyder, the Weimaraner, & the big Poodle, were all back to see Joan Luna. They were accompanied by the Pharaoh Hound, CH Shalimar Mercury Rising, the Newfoundland, Fairweather’s Quick Around The World, the Shih Tzu, CH Xetrlane’s Face The Music, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Asgard Harley Davidson V Plamark PT. Judge Peggy Hauck could have chosen the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Afghan Hound, CH Genesis Silverado, the Boxer, CH Winfall I Dream Of Style, the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, the Standard Poodle, CH Dawin Spitfire, or the German Shepherd Dog, Fox's Hollywood, but she didn’t. Buddy is now the country’s number three Terrier.

Patricia Hastings had Day One BIS duty for the Newnan (GA) Kennel Club Saturday. She considered the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, the Greyhound, CH CH Grandcru Clos Erasmus, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Alpenspirit Lion King, the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, the Dalmatian, CH Bret D Gabriel's Lost Art, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Mysharas Dream Girl. She chose the country’s number one Greyhound, Era. That’s number two this year for Era and handler Rindi Gaudet.
ST PETERSBURG SATURDAY
Sari Tietjen called the BIS for the St Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association in Palmetto FL Saturday. Her choices were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Bracon’s Leapin Lily Pads, the Whippet, CH Karasar's Parexcellence, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Sun Style's Sensation, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, CH Sho-Well's Bree's Boy Toy, the Toy Manchester Terrier, CH Tropicfox Dreamgirl, the Standard Poodle, CH Chrystal's Totally Chromed Out, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Riverside in The Dark Zone.
Her Best was Jane Alston-Myers Corgi, Indi. We have this as Indi’s first BIS of the year. Congratulations to Jane, breeder/owner Deborah B Shindle.
