DOBERMAN BEST IN TENNESSEE

GCH CH Phillmar Superman 

The seven dogs joining judge David Bolus in today’s Greater Kingsport Kennel Club show in Gray TN were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Superman, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Reignon Lutra Fastest Girl In Town, the Pug, CH Warpug Black And Blue Reme, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Jade East Mission Into Space, and the Briard, CH Ne Orageux's Flash Point. 

GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble 

The two getting the BIS and the RBIS were the Doberman, Clark, and the Beagle, Miss P. It was Clark's third BIS in just four final appearances this season.

BRITTANY BIS DAY ONE IN CO

GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome 

Out in the Mountain Time Zone the Durango Kennel Club is hosting three shows in Cortez CO. Friday’s opener ended with judge James Frederiksen in the final ring with the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Samoyed, GCH CH Magellans Only Connect, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Gravitas MGK Bonita Del Mar, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Miletree Carnival, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Asias The Big Easy, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridge What’s Your Dream. 

 Judge Fredericksen’s BIS was the Brittany, Beckett. His RBIS was the Wire Fox. Beckett is the nation’s Number One Sporting Dog and Number Six Dog All Breeds with seven BIS and 26 Sporting Groups.

GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder 

Meanwhile it was day two in Scarborough ME and day one for the York County Kennel Club of Maine. The seven dogs pleading their cases with judge Sharon Lyons were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Kuluta Along The Watchtower, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Airedale, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH GDM Zenyatta At Lakeside, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Puli, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm If Not Now, When?. 

GCH CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur 

Best went to the Springer, Liam, Reserve to the Newfoundland, Sur. It was Liam’s second BIS of the year in seven trips to the final ring.

RAIN SUSPENDS SHOW IN NEW YORK

No matter where you stand on global warming, climate change, or Mother Nature will get you, you have to admit that we’ve had some weather related challenges over the past few years. Yesterday’s Ladies' Kennel Association Of America event was halted after five groups because of torrential rains. 

The five dogs that did add a Group One to their resume were the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo Of Eagle, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade secret, GCH CH Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), and the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break. 

Testament to the determination of our exhibitors, today’s LKAA show is underway. Now you know why we love this sport.

FIELD SPANIEL BIS IN MAINE

GCH CH Sandscape Pardon Me Boys 

The show week began Thursday in Scarborough ME with the Vacationland Dog Club’s day one show. Judge Patricia Hess had Thursday’s final and her choice of the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Sandscape Pardon Me Boys, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Rottweiler, Mustangs Cruize Control V Mojim RN CGC, the Russell Terrier, CH Kajsenborg’s Dirty Diana, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH GDM Zenyatta At Lakeside, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Are-Jay’s Harlem Renaissance, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. 

 She chose the Field Spaniel, Ginger, as her Best and the four year old Chow as her Reserve. Although Ginger has been among the Top Three Field Spaniels for the last three years, this is her first BIS. Congratulations to breeders/owners Corinne Dooley & Nichole Dooley Bunch, co-breeder Danielle Brewer, owner Georgette Perry, and handler Jess Thibault.

GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks

Our final report from the prior weekend is on Sunday’s Macon Kennel Club show in Perry GA. The seven dogs that BIS judge Audrey Lycan saw were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Siphra’s Wish You Were Here, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo The Jester of NV, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Lonestar’s Which Witch, the Italian Greyhound, Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks. 

GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You 

Collecting his eighth BIS of the year and his second of the stop was the GSD, Megabucks. Picking up the RBIS was the Golden, Dylan. Megabucks started the month as the Number Ten Herding Dog, but after four BIS in the last two weeks he is now the Number Three Herding Dog.

GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded 

When we last checked in on the Ravenna Kennel Club in Tallmadge OH we told you that the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, was judge Thomas Parrotti’s BIS on Saturday. Matrix would do it again on Sunday, charming judge Father Brian Timby, out of the big rosette.

Joining Matrix in the final with the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Trinity's Tucked Under His Wing, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Holly Woods Angels N Demons, the Colored Bull Terrier, Action Spark of The Divine CA CGC, the RBIS, the Pug, GCH CH Country Hill Tag I’m It, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Byrequest Bon Mot, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar Steel Blue. 

The Hound Group is one of the most hotly contested groups this year. Matrix’ 11 BIS and 23 Group Firsts puts him in a virtual tie for Number Two Hound.

GCH CH Tramore Notorious 

Our next stop is Eau Claire WI where the Indianhead Kennel Club hosted two shows. Saturday’s final featured judge Michael Daechel and the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar's Masterpiece, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Nightline Viking At Tanglewood, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Delzar Sweet Sin Sation, the Brussels Griffon, CH Fist Face Reloaded, the Bulldog, CH Piltz’s Louis Vuitton, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgable The Frat Boy. 

Taking the top awards were the Setter, Torrey, and the Giant, Thor. It’s the first for Torrey. Congratulations to breeder/owner Ginny Swanson , owners Sue & Larry Hassler, and handler Doug Carlson.

Sunday judge Ken Murray would see six of Saturday’s finalists and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Barnstorm To Jo B’En Wicked @ Adominos By Dzine. He would also like Thor and Torrey, naming the Giant BIS and the Setter RBIS. It was also Thor’s first BIS of the season. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Ed Fojtik, co-breeder Deborah Wiebe, and owners Chris & Jean Erath.

SCOTT COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Telltale American Ride 

 If you were in Rock Island IL this past weekend we hope you were at the Scott County Kennel Club shows. Day one featured judge Gene Blake in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Coves Seabrook Enough Said, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Huntwood’s Command Performance Tobylinn, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Trio's Big Shot, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Cher Ami's Toast With Remy Martin, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Daybar For Your Eyes Only. 

 His Best In Show was the Springer, Randy, and his Reserve was the Beagle, Miss P. Randy started the month as the Number Two Sporting Dog. Through this weekend he has three BIS and 23 Sporting Groups. 

GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble 

Sunday judge Dr Donald Spritzer would see the same seven, save one, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno. He would go with the same top two, naming Miss P his BIS, and Randy his RBIS. Miss P is the Number Two Hound with five BIS and 24 Hound Groups in 2014.

AKC’s Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, was in Topeka KS this weekend, picking up back2back BIS at the Sunflower Kennel Club Of Olathe, Kansas two shows.

On Saturday judge Peggy Beisel-Mcllwaine would prefer Flame to the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, whom she preferred to the Spinoni Italiano, GCH CH Bela’s This Time Its Hudson, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Kilyka’s Three Sheets at Aegir, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon’s Sugar Dumplin’, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH  CH Kingsbury Tail Ridge Road.

Sunday Flame would impress judge Dr Donald Struz Jr more than did the aforementioned Spinoni, who impressed him more than did the above named Saluki, Newfoundland, Cairn, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Go For The Gold, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey's Moon River.

The two wins brings the Number One Non-Sporting Dog’s 2014 record to 14 BIS and 40 Non-Sporting Groups.
 

DENTON KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Saks Winning Card 

As we work our way across the country this morning, our next stop is Denton TX for a report on the hometown Denton Kennel Club’s two shows. Judge Vicki Abbott had the Saturday final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Designer’s I Think I’m In A Dance Off, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Bubble Gum V. Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Taste with Gusto, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Glentom’s Dirty Harry, the Papillon, InVolo Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Winsome's Lil' Bit of Beardice. 

Taking the top awards were the Bichon with the BIS and the GSD with the RBIS. Bingo’s first BIS of the year makes him the nation’s Number One Bichon Frise. Congratulations to breeders Roberta Bleecker & Shirley Hamilton, owners Sarah Ayers, Sandra &Keith Hanson, &Cecilia Ruggles, and handler Scott Sommer.

Bingo would be the only one of Saturday’s finalists to return to the BSI ring on Sunday. He was joined in judge Danele Brown’s final by the Curly Coated Retriever, GCH CH Clarion’s Blackberry Bramble, the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Capability’s Hot Tin Lizzie, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Reverie Cameo.

Our Pacific Northwest offering this past weekend was the Klamath Dog Fanciers’ two shows in that Oregon city.  Saturday ended with judge Jon Cole in the final ring with the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Shasta’s Western Samurai, the Afghan Hound, GCH DC Perfection Cheria Electric Ice SC, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Tailwind’s Rooster Cogburn, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria's Kid N Play, the Havanese, GCH CH Peluito's Papi Chulo, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH DV9K9′s Alaskan Winter Wilderness, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Harmony Hill’s Say Yes To The Dress.

Five of Saturday’s finalists would return to the final ring on Sunday, Tundra, Kid, the Flat-Coat, Afghan, and the Havanese.  They were joined by the Akita, GCH CH Sondaisa Fyre When Ready CD CGC, and the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Jotunn Bella Binna.

Judge Elizabeth Muthard’s top two were the Havanese, Papi, and the Buhund, Binna.  It was the second BIS in nine trips to the final ring this year for Papi and handler Andy Linton.

The CCKC had the coveted Saturday spot, asking judge Margaret Reed to choose her Best and Reserve Best In Show. Her options were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward, the 15” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Interlude, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peaceriver SilverIce Summer Soltice, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Talakan Trumpeter Swan, the Havanese, CH Sandcastle’s Did It Again, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Newtnine Crown Of Queen, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bon Idee’s Love American Style RN CA CGC. 

The two she liked were the Field Spaniel, Gideon, and the Malamute, Puck. Gideon is the nation’s Number Four Sporting Dog with three BIS and 15 Sporting Groups.

OES HAT TRICK IN NEW MEXICO

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

After two days stuck in airports without wifi we are back home at the keyboard to give you all the weekend’s results and analysis. We will start out in the Land of Enchantment where a rare New Mexico cluster drew the largest number of dogs of the week. When last we checked in on the High Desert Cluster, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats The Gladiator, collected his very first BIS at Saturday’s Rio Grande Kennel Club opener.

The remaining three big rosettes would be added to the already voluminous collection of our Number Two Dogs All Breeds, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. At Sunday’s RGKC encore, judge Yvonne Savard preferred Swagger to the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, whom she preferred to the Akita, GCH CH Stardust's See You At The Show RN, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern Magic Fly Me Safe. 

GCH CH Evergreens Rub My Belly at Rising Star 

The Coronado Kennel Club of New Mexico two shows were the only ones in the US on Monday and Tuesday. Judge Beverly Capstick had Monday’s final, naming Swagger her BIS and the Dogue de Bordeaux, GCH CH Evergreens Rub My Belly at Rising Star, her RBIS. Rounding out the final were five new faces, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Borzoi, GCH CH Promises Crown Jewel Nicholas, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Carnival, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern Magic Fly Me Safe.

 Judge Jeannette McGinnis had the closer, putting Swagger at the front of the lines, followed by her RBIS, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, the previously seen Brittany, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Always Blue Caboose, the aforementioned Dogue de Bordeaux, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Accidentally On Porpoise, and the Lhasa Apso, CH Sundancer Foxy Lady. 

Swagger and breeder/owner/handler Colton Johnson started their week in Perry GA where they took an RBIS on Thursday before heading to Albuquerque, collecting over 3500 points along the way. Swagger’s 2014 resume includes 27 BIS and 51 Herding Groups.

The Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, ended the Number One Dog All Breeds’ nine show winning streak yesterday, taking the top prize at the Lancaster Kennel Club show in Lebanon PA.

Joining Knopa and the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, in judge Richard Powell’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, his RBIS, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Bichon Frise, CH Barberry’s Take A Chance On Me, and the Border Collie, CH Lucky For You Gangster. 

 It was the first all breed BIS in 20 final appearances this year for Knopa and handler Rebecca Cross. Congratulations to Rebecca, breeders Vandra Huber & Michael Krolewski, and owner Marina Khenkina.

New England fanciers left North Stonington CT for Woodstock CT today to compete in the Windham County Kennel Club show. 

The seven that showed up for judge Edward Hall’s final were the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Kamand Tangled Up In Blue, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Miniature Pinscher, Marlex Call Me La Lupe, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Georgio Armani, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Cityside Splitting The Defense. 

GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham 

He had taken the RBIS on Friday & Saturday, but today the Skye, Charlie, was a bridesmaid no more, collecting the BIS. Today’s RBIS was the Sammie, Bogey. Charlie is the Country’s Number One Terrier and Number Eight Dog All Breeds with 11 BIS and 35 Terrier groups.

We are on the West Coast today, so our show reports are coming in a little late for those of you in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. First up we have the Ravenna Kennel Club who is set up in Tallmadge OH for two days.

Judge Thomas Parrotti’s BIS was the Afghan, Matrix. His RBIS was the Pug, JJ. Matrix is fighting to get back on top of a very tough Hound Group this year. He is currently the Number Three Hound with ten BIS and 22 Hound Groups this season.

The Macon Kennel Club took over on day three in Perry GA and put Dr Anthony DiNardo in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Saluki, CH Impala From A Deeper Well, the Great Dane, GCH CH Journey’s Gentleman Prefer Blondes, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Crynwyd Caprice, the Long Haired Chihuahua, CH Winterfell Prince Williams of Ludi Hill, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Woodwynd Twelve Sharp, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks.

His top two were the GSD, Megabucks, and the Springer, Maddox. Megabucks has been turning on the afterburners since his debut this spring, collecting all seven of his BIS an all 15 of his Group Ones in the last two months.

With almost 1600 dogs entered the biggest prize of the week was Saturday’s Rio Grande Kennel Club in Albuquerque NM and several of our top dogs were on hand. The seven dogs hoping to get all those points were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Foxtails Race For The Chase, the Dogue de Bordeaux, GCH CH Evergreen’s Rub My Belly at Rising Star, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Accidentally On Porpoise, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats The Gladiator, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman’s BIS was the Bulldog, Don Juan, and her RBIS was the Pom, Danny. It was the first BIS in nine final appearances the for nation’s Number One Bulldog. a BIS over Top tEn competition, quite an accomplishment at just 18 months old. Congratulations to breeders/owners Jamie Vasquez & Randall Jenkins, owner Linda Scott, and handler Dennis O’Connor.
