BRAZOS VALLEY KC DAY ONE

CH Vinla-Cabaret's Gold Standard

From Navasota TX we hear that the 13” Beagle, CH Vinla-Cabaret's Gold Standard, was Robert Boothe’s Best In Show at the day one show of the Brazos Valley Kennel Club.  Rounding out the final were the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Mastiff, GCH CH Jadems Oliver Twist, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Challenger's Honky Tonk Man, the Maltese, GCH CH Chrisman's Shiny Toy Gun, the Bichon Frise, High Ridge Shinning Star, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Karousel’s Kartwheels  

Iit’s the first for ten month old Ari.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Kevin & Darla  Brooks, co-breeders T Olson, K Hackler & M Golden, owner Sarah Ayers, and handler Brooke Ayala. 

WESTERN PA KENNEL ASSOCIATION 1

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici  

Our first report of the day comes in from Monroeville PA where the Western Pennsylvania Kennel Association is set up for two days. Today ended with Beverly Capstick deciding among the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Gemdach Don't Blame Me, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, CH Lissadell Teller Of Tall Tales, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin’s Strictly Confidential at Enginuity, the Lhasa Apso, CH Cozmos Custombuilt, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH la Brise Sun Bear.  

Her BIS was the nation’s Number One Dog, the Doberman, FiFi.   FiFi’s tenth all breed Best should keep her on top of the rankings for another week.

SYRACUSE NY DAY TWO

GCH CH B-Loved Nothing But Net  

Muriel Purkhiser had the judges book at the Central New York Kennel Club's final today in Syracuse NY.  Her seven supplicants were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Remember When, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, GCH CH B-Loved Nothing But Net, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Pine Hill’s Payday Of Hayshill. 

It was the 16 month old Bulldog, Swoosh, picking up his very first  BIS.  The win follows a month in which he and breeder/owner/handler Betsy Love have collected four BISS.  Congrats all around.

CONCORD NC DAY TWO

GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch  

The Columbia Kennel Club asked Arlene Davis to choose a Best In Show for their day two show in Concord NC.  Her options were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwoods First Reign, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I dream of Style, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Kambara’s Zebulon, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Krissy’s Sassy Jasper, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Fantastico da Maya, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.  

BIS went to the GSD, Capi.  It’s the first BIS of the year for 2011’s Number One Herding Dog (all breeds).  Capi and owner/handler Jimmy Moses finished last year with 27 all breed Bests and 105 Herding Groups.  Our congratulations to Jimmy, breeder/owner Carlos Navarro, and owners D Stern, J Lange, & M Deschamps.

SYRACUSE NY DAY ONE

The North Country Kennel Club had the first day of the four day stop in Syracuse NY. Yesterday’s final included the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Remember When, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Imagine Love’s second Chance, and the Briard, GCH CH Fairytale’s Balthazar Le Sage.  

Col Joe Purkhiser’s BIS was the GWP, Oakley.  Oakley & handler Phil  Booth are locked in a close battle for the Number One Dog All Breeds.  We will have to wait until the weekend is over to see if Oakley has regained the top spot with his tenth big rosette of the year.

CONCORD NC DAY ONE

GCH CH Winfall I dream of Style  

Our first report of the week comes in from Concord NC where the Columbia Kennel Club kicked off a four day set with Joe Gregory calling the first final.  

The first seven to make it to the BIS ring were the GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I dream of Style, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune In My Eyes, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Krissy’s Savy Jasper, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante’s Fire When Ready, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.  

It was the Boxer, Macey, picking up her seventh big rosette of the year.  Macey is the litter sister of last year’s Number One Working Dog, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream.

ANCHORAGE AK

GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi  

As is often the case, the last set of results to come in from the past weekend are from outside the lower 48.  Some of our more rugged fanciers were in Anchorage AK this weekend for the Tanana Valley Kennel Club & Anchorage Kennel club shows.  

Saturday ended with Pat Trotter in the final ring with the Field Spaniel, CH Winfarthing Pride & Prejudice SH, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Mahali Arriva Meadowlark, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dreamcatcher Major Victor of Loki, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Miniature Poodle, Cabryn Frankly I’m The One and Only, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Melody’s North To Alaska.  

Best went to smallest among them, the Chin, Mimi.  It’s the second BIS in the last two weeks for Mimi and  handler Nancy Martin.  

GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman  

Sunday  Mimi & Nancy and four of their fellow finalists would join the Golden Retriever, CH Koria’s Life of the Party, & the Australian Shepherd, CH Melody’s Alaskan Gold Rush, in Gloria Geringer’s final.  She chose the rugged AmStaff, Jelly, as her Best.  It was the second of the year for Jelly,  the nation’s Number One American Staffordshire Terrier, and breeder/owner/handler Ed Thomason.

BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN MANITOWOC

Dog fanciers will have a dozen different sites they can visit this week for their dog show fix.  New Yorkers will head upstate for a four day stop in Syracuse NY beginning Thursday with the North Country Kennel Club, the Central New York Kennel Club, the Onondaga Kennel Association, & the Finger Lakes Kennel Club.  

Here in the South exhibitors will choose between a Thursday to Sunday stay in Concord NC courtesy of the Columbia Kennel Club, the Salisbury North Carolina Kennel Club, & the Greater Monroe Kennel Club, or a traditional two day weekend in Newnan GA hosted by the Newnan Kennel Club & the Douglasville Kennel Club Of Georgia.  Great Lakes residents can opt for the Western Pennsylvania Kennel Club’s two shows in Monroeville PA near Pittsburgh and the Packerland Kennel Club’s two in Manitowoc WI.  In the Heartland, the place to be is De Witt IA for the Clinton Iowa Kennel Club’s twofer.

The Great Plains region will have multiple options with three days of shows in Mitchell NE hosted by the Scottsbluff Kennel Club, two days in Claremore OK with the hometown Claremore Kennel Club Of Oklahoma, and a traditional weekend with the Brazos Valley Kennel Club in Navasota TX.  West coast dog folk will have to decide among two days in Boulder City NV at the Silver State Kennel Club’s shows, a weekend in Albany OR with the Chintimini Kennel Club, and the Kern County Kennel Club’s two shows in Bakersfield CA.

We expect that our Top Dogs will more dispersed about the US this week than in the last month, making this week an optimum time for you to get to a local show to see the Best of the Best vie for Best In Show.  Support your local dog show!  And check out artist Michael Jiroch’s website.  Who would have thought you could make Manitowoc so beautiful?

PENINSULA DOG FANCIERS ASSOCIATION

Our last stop on our Monday Morning Mop Up is Bremerton WA for the Peninsula Dog Fanciers Association’s two shows.  Virginia Lyne had the opener and her pick of the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestops Fire & Ice, the 15” Beagle, CH Foxtails Sweet Dreams, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Karnovandas Tenzing, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Mcvan’s Be Bop Baby, the Silky Terrier, CH Tawny Mist Myan Mystic, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Rufkins Squeezin Into A Speedo, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Flying Solo.  

The Siberian, Tenzing, grabbed the day one rosette.  It was the first BIS in three final appearances this year for Tenzng and handler Randy W Schepper.  Congratulations to Randy, breeder/owner Judith M Russell, co breeder Donna Beckman, and owners M Russell, Sarah N Hubbach, & L M Cera DVM.  

Reedly Road Globetrotte

Sunday, Frank Sabella saw the above named IWS, the Pharaoh Hound, Reedly Road Globetrotter, the Akita, CH Sondaisa Fyre When Ready, the Parson Russell Terrier, CH Snow Winds Masked Bandit, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters, the Keeshond, GCH CH Shamrocks Captain Stormalong, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bedrocks Kingfish Of Barbu.  His BIS was the young Pharaoh Hound.  It’s the first AKC BIS for the British import who had an impressive start in the UK.  Congratulations to breeder M. Evteeva, owners Linda & Richard Stark, and handler Shea Skinner.

FORT WORTH KENNEL CLUB

There were only two all breed shows in Fort worth TX this weekend, but there were almost 5000 points up for grabs.  On Saturday the Fort Worth Kennel Club asked William Bergum to choose a BIS for their day one show.  His options were the Golden Retriever, CH Summits Sonny Side Up, the Pharaoh Hound, CH  Faouziah's Faramir, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Afterall Painting The Sky, the Papillon, GCH CH Copella's Rising Attraction, the Bulldog, CH  Mytoy's Epic Against The Wind, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Harmony Hill's Money Talks.    

It was the two year Bulldog taking home his very first all breed Best.  We couldn’t find a photo of this boy, but we have video!   Congratulations to breeders/owners Dennis O'Connor, Ann McDearmon, & Terri O'Connor, co-breeder Danny Haley, and owner Linda Scott.  

GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence

Sunday, Paula Hartinger saw the same Colden, Kuvasz, & the Bulldog, the Saluki, GCH CH Aurora's The Song And Dance Man, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Symarun's Love T'Look, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Leeason Rock My Soul.  Her BIS was the country’s Number Two Working Dog, the Kuvazs, Tanner.  Tanner and handler Diana Wilson have been all over the US these past two years, introducing the public to the Kuvazs breed, while setting the breed record for most BIS.  Sunday’s win was their fourth of the year and second of the weekend.  We will wait until we get all the numbers in, but we look for Tanner to be up a few spots in the Top Ten.

THREE DAYS IN EDISON NJ

GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari  

Our next stop is in Edison NJ where one little dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari,  took advantage of the big points available offered, taking home two of the three all breed rosettes, Friday’s New Brunswick Kennel Club show and Sunday’s Bronx Kennel Club show.   The set was preceded by four limited breed shows, the Big Apple Sporting Society, the Progressive Dog Club, the Non-Sporting Group Club of the Garden State, and the Herding Group Association of New Jersey.   

Joey and handler Ernesto Lara were joined on Friday in Christine Calcinari’s final by the Golden retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s in the Bag, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo 's Run For The Roses, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Celtic Cross Steele Pride, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Wonderland's Heavily Armed Agitator, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Hilsman Bandog Holy Moses!, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

However, at the NBKC’s day two show on Saturday, judge Richard Beauchamp would see a mostly new seven, the Flat Coat Retriever, GCH CH Blazin's Joie De Vivre, CD, JH, the aforementioned Borzoi, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo's B'Mew Just In Queso, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Maltese, CH Ta-Jon’s Pawstively Pawparazzi, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Pine Hill's Payday Of Hayshill.   

His BIS was the Lakeland, Spot.  Spot has been the top winning Lakie in the US for the last two years.  Saturday’s win was his third all breed Best of the year.  

Sunday, Spot & Joey were back, along with the above named Golden & GSD, to see BIS judge Eric Ringle.  Rounding out the final were the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Whirlaways Ida Belle's A Ringing,  the Doberman Pinscher, CH Cambria's Omen, and the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Georgio Armani.  

The two wins brings Joey’s 2012 take to eight BIS.  More importantly, the weekend netted Joey better than 3000 all breed points, putting much closer to a Number One Toy ranking.

DUBUQUE KENNEL CLUB

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Dubuque IA where the Dubuque Kennel Club posted a pair of shows this weekend.  Day one’s final had Katie Gammill choosing her Best of the English Setter, GCH CH Aerden's Pretty In Pink JH, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Newcastle's Picturesque Picasso, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Gordon's Bite Of The Apple, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Knolland Amber Moon, the Lhasa Apso, CH Monarch Rufkins Tango In Paris, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Alkarah's Bossa Nova.  

Her BIS was the English. Setter, KiKi.  It’s the first for KiKi and her breeder/owner Laurie Engel.  Our congratulations to Laurie, co-breeder/owner Rose Miller, and handler Vito Ciaravino.

Sunday, Steve Hayden would see the Irish Setter, Rosette Without Limits, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH .Alphaville's Special Edition Wynsyr, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Francesca's House Of Blues, the Border Terrier, GCH CH .Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the above named Griffon, the Bulldog to be named later, and the previously mentioned GSD.  

It was the Doberman, Dakota, taking home the closer.   It is also Dakota’s first AKC BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Dawn M Sauriol, Dawn R Honaker, Shari L Demitrowicz, owner Robert Hennessey, and handler Dylan Kipp.

VALLEJO CA DAY FOUR

GCH CH Aashtoria’s Wildhunt Hidden Agenda  

They just wrapped up the four day weekend in Vallejo CA with Dr John Reeves-Newson’s final.  Occupying the Oakland Kennel Club’s BIS ring were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B‘Dazzled, the Borzoi, GCH CH Aashtoria’s Wildhunt Hidden Agenda, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Silver Lining, the Norwich Terrier, CH Ascot Sanspur at Yarrow, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windemere‘s Dusting of White at Pevyne, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Victoire Gerie No Lemon Gemstone, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay’s Wicked. 

Best went to the Borzoi, Casper.  It’s the first BIS this year for Casper and owner/handler Stuart McGraw, who finished 2011 with one all breed BIS and 17 Hound Groups.  Congratulations to Stuart, breeders Robin Riel & Ariel Duncan, and owners Robin & Charles Riel.

RALEIGH NC DAY FIVE

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vid Vici  

Dana Cline closed the five day stop in Raleigh NC, calling the BIS for the Fayetteville Kennel Club.  The seven making last call were the English springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Greyhound, GCH CH Rubicon He’s So fine, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vid Vici, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, the Pug, GCH CH Riversong’s Doc Holiday, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song at Morningstar.  

Taking home her second big rosette of the set was the Doberman, FiFi.  The win, her ninth of the year and her fourth in the last two weeks, gives FiFi sole possession of the title of Number One Dog All Breeds. 

VALLEJO CA DAY THREE

We awake this morning to some additional Saturday results.  From Vallejo CA, we hear that the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks a Peek, was Chuck Winslow’s BIS at yesterday’s Oakland Kennel Club show.  Adam’s fellow finalists were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Boxer, GCH CH Conquest-Rosend’s New Kid In Town, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin’s Top Banana, the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy’s If The Shoe Fits.  

It’s the first BIS this year for 2011’s Number Dog All Breeds.   Adam and handler Eddie Boyes collected 21 BIS and 63 Terrier Groups, even though they showed in far fewer shows than most of the Top Twenty.  Our Congratulations to Eddie, breeders Joan & Mark Taggart, and owner J W Smith.
