GSP BIS IN RICHMOND VA

GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmarke Investigator 

We like to call the Mid-Atlantic region “Dog Show Central” for its number of shows each year. Today fanciers were once again in Richmond VA for the Southern Maryland Kennel Club’s show. BIS Judge Nathaniel Horn had the company of some of the sport’s best. They were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmarke Investigator, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Allure Playing With Fire, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire's Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha'Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.

Taking home the big rosette was the GSP, Vance. Collecting the reserve award was the Bloodhound, Nathan. Vance is the country’s Number One German Shorthaired Pointer, collecting three BIS in six trips to the final ring this year. Two of those BIS have come in the last two weeks. Have you noticed how many dogs have come alive this month? This year may turn out to be very interesting.

CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town 

Judge Pat Trotter was in Ferndale CA today to call the final at the Lost Coast Kennel Club of California. The seven dogs that stayed all day to see her were the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Big Sky's Augustus, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&Ms Fear The Beard, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Baron Dye Of Ridgetop, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Go For The Gold NAJ, the Bulldog, CH Rambling Fever Pretty Fly For A White Guy, and the Puli, GCH CH Mt Hood's Leapin' Linni Of Tordor.

Her BIS was the Smooth Fox, Taylor, and her RBIS was the Puli, Linni. It was the second consecutive BIS for Taylor and handler Eddie Boyes, bringing their 2014 resume to five BIS and 16 Terrier Groups.

ENGLISH SETTER BIS IN MA

GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego 

The English Setter, GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego, was judge Robert Vandiver’s Best In Show at today’s Hockamock Kennel Club show in Wrentham MA. Judge Vandiver also liked the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, whom he named RBIS. Rounding out his seven were the seven dogs hoping to gain his favor were the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallam's Jake Of Arolet SC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Black Bart's Calamity Jane, the Airedale Terrier, CH Joval Sweet Time, the Pug, GCH CH Charchen’s Billy The Kid, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Nightwind's Little Ricky.

 Blaze is the nation’s Number One English Setter and Number Four sporting Dog with six BIS and 29 Sporting Groups this season.

CH Torquay Midnight Victory 

The hometown Lima Kennel Club asked judge Bonnie Linnell Clarke to take the final at their big Saturday show. The seven dogs she saw were the Golden Retriever, CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the 13” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent , the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Homestead Zoey Of Treyacres, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Milin s Emerson Tappin On The Bay CGC, and the Briard, CH Deja Vu Elephant In The Room.

Judge Anitra Cuneo considered the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Fireside’s Mother Of Pearl JH, the Norwegian Elkhound GCH Somerri Dunharrow's Dynamo, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Desire Of Love Dell' Antica Caledonia, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Donavin's Caramel Macchiato, the Bichon Frise, CH Barberry's Take A Chance On Me, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.

Judge Jan Paulk’s seven hopefuls were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Diamond MK The Eagle Has Landed, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Bakari’s Lor Vita Caymus CGC, the Samoyed GCH CH Snoline ‘N Snowater’s On A Roll, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH Cambria’s Kid N Play, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Bravehound’s Medal of Honor at Win-Dancer, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Newtnine Crown of Queen, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential.

The Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power continued his sizzling summer surge, with another BIS Friday. The latest win came at the Kanadasaga Kennel Club show in Bainbridge NY.

 Friday was day three of the Oklahoma City Summer Classic and the Mid-Del Tinker Kennel Club’s turn to host. They asked judge Susan St John-Brown to name a Best In Show from the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr’n Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Whippet, GCH CH Debmar Lovin’ Dixie SC, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn’s GM Freestyle, the Toy Fox Terrier, CH Centennial Farms Catch Me If You Can, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky.

We have results from the West Coast and the Lost Coast Kennel Club of California. After a two day break, fanciers are back in Richmond VA for today’s Southern Maryland Kennel Club show. Today’s final was in the hands of judge Dennis Gallant who chose his top two from the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire's Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks.

The two he liked were the Skye Terrier, Charlie, and the GSD, Megabucks. We have a fierce battle for Number One Terrier this year. Charlie started the week as the Number Two Terrier and the Number Seven Dog All Breeds with 14 BIS and 53 Terrier Groups. We will wait until the end of the weekend to see if that changes.

Joining Matisse in judge Clay Coady’s final were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Iceage V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the RBIS, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn’s GM Freestyle, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon’s Sugar Dumplin’, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi , GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

The BIS extends Matisse’s winning streak to four BIS and his 2014 record to 65 BIS and 84 Working Groups.

OKC SUMMER CLASSIC BEGINS!

Oklahoma City has long been a major dog show destination and this year the Oklahoma City Summer Classic has been extended to five all breed shows. Thus it is no surprise that several of our top dogs, including members of the Top Ten Dogs All Breed, rendezvoused in the Sooner State this week. 

GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome 

Three of the Top Ten made it to judge Gloria Geringer’s final at today’s Lawton Dog Fanciers Association show, the Number One Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Number Three Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Number Four Dog, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome. Rounding out her seven were the Pharaoh Hound, CH Farao Anubis Inferno, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn’s GM Freestyle Flyer, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Zen’s Cirque du Solei, and the Pembroke welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River. 

Her BIS was the Number One Dog, the PWD, Matisse, and her RBIS was the Number Four Dog, the Brittany, Beckett. Matisse is already the Number One Working Dog of all time and is on pace to have another record breaking year with 64 BIS in 83 final appearances half way through the year.

The Montnana Marathon ended its eight day journey in Missoula MT with the day three show of the Five Valley Kennel Club. Judge Col Joe Purkhiser had the final final and his pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Borzoi, GCH CH Aashtoria Wildhunt Hidden Agenda, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Full Throttle’s Wee Drop of Mischief O’Kilcregg, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the Bichon Frise, CH Newtnine Crown of Queen, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential.

The Gloucester Kennel Club of Virginia closed the four day First Colony Cluster today with judge Donna Buxton in the final ring. The Montana Marathon continued its eight day long trek through Big Sky Country with the Five Valley Kennel Club’s show on Monday in Missoula MT. Judge Kent Delaney had the final and his choice of the English Springer Spaniel, Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, GCH CH the Borzoi, GCH CH Aashtoria Wildhunt Hidden Agenda CGC, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Sierra’s Ground Zero, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s the Gladiator, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Belmark Close Encounter.

Finishing one/two were the Akita, Nik, and the Smooth Fox, Flipper. It was the third BIS in 12 trips to the final ring this year.

 Iowa City IA was the site of Sunday’s Hawkeye Kennel Club show, which ended with judge Patricia Hastings final. The seven dogs she considered were the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Foxwood’s Rock Of Cashel, the Saluki, GCH CH Aurora’s The Song And Dance, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge’s Risky Business, the Border Terrier, CH McHill’s HRH Prince Gizmo House Of Gremlin, the Brussels Griffon, JN Ambrosia’s Raise Your Glass, the Dalmatian, CH Centurion Anticipation Charming, and the Border Collie, GCH CH F Si A Ge Of Fu You Yuan Kennel.

The last seven dogs on the grounds were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Saluki, GCH CH Impala Ladies Love Outlaw, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Avatar Cosmac Storm, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock N Rolla, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Orchard Hill Just Enough Luck, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Serenade Renaissance Live It Up, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

Picking up the big rosette was the Setter, Teller. Collecting the Reserve ribbon was the Rottweiler, Mac. Teller is the Number Six Sporting Dog with seven BIS and 26 Sporting Groups.

GCH CH Allure Playing With Fire

The Mid-Hudson Kennel Association had the closer in New Paltz NY and they put judge Lynette Saltzman in the final ring with the English Setter, CH Kaska's Dapper Don Of Loralei BN RN, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Allure Playing With Fire, the Scottish Terrier, CH Greatscot's Last Call, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Zeigen Aurora Australis, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical's My Turn.

Judge Saltzman’s BIS was the Doberman and her RBIS was the Pom.  It was the first BIS this year for Flare in six final appearances this year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Nancy Bosley, co-breeders Carmen Pitts & Julie Porter, and handler Gwen deMilta.

We go next to Rush NY where judge David Kittredge called the final at today’s Genesee Valley Kennel Club show. The seven dogs he considered were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Tioka's American Ride, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet's Annie El Encanto, the Miniature Schnauzer, Markworth Sky's The Limit, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Gdm Zenyatta At Lakeside, the Miniature Poodle, CH Jaboas Never Ending Dream, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Keylis Spotlite Just Do It. 

Taking home the BIS was the Irish Setter. Collecting the RBIS was the GSD. It’s the Irish Setter Adele’s second consecutive BIS and her third in 21 final appearances this year.

 Judge Keke Kahn had the closer at today’s Penobscot Valley Kennel Club show in Cumberland ME. The seven dogs hoping to take home a BIS were the Brittany, GCH CH Triumphant's As Good As It Gets JH, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Boxer, GCH CH Shadigee's Sequel To Legends, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Br'Er Fox Philippa Of Hunterston, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark, Jolei Rocket Power, the Dalmatian, CH Blackberry N Riverside Perfect Pemigewasset, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Bramley's Green Mountain Boy.

The one who succeeded was the Wire Fox, Pippa. The one who came close was the Brittany, Beckett. It was the second BIS in 11 times in the final ring for Pippa and handler RC Carusi.
