WINE COUNTRY KC DAY ONE

The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, held onto her Fourth Place All Breed Ranking with a BIS at today’s Wine Country Kennel Club show in Napa CA.

Margaret Reed’s six other finalists were the German Shepherd Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Great Expectations, the Whippet, GCH CH Endeavor’s White Roses on Nysa Hill, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak McDreamy, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Hatch Tille de la Salsa.

It’s the 40th BIS for Ally and her second under handler Taffee McFadden who is standing in for regular handler Tim Brazier who is recovering from bypass surgery. 

FRAMINGHAM DISTRICT KC

GCH CH D’ Devil Wears Prada

From Fitchburg MA we hear that Douglas Taylor’s Best In Show at today’s Framingham District Kennel Club show was the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’ Devil Wears Prada.

Rounding out the final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Dromkeen’s Karma, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me A Spot, the Pug, GCH CH Riversong’s Doc Holiday, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Anthony, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Tir Nan Og The Legend Of Banzai Maguire.

It’s the third this year for Miranda and handler Kelly Marquis.

HERNANDO KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

GCH CH Myshara’s Dream Girl

The Hernando Kennel Club opened their two day stop in Brooksville, FL today and asked Teddy McDowell, to chose the day one BIS.  Her options were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gemini Fallchase The Butler Did It, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Kimani's Sneak Preview, the Bullmastiff, CH Bandog’s Brutus of Raven, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou's The Warrior, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Myshara’s Dream Girl.

She chose the Australian Shepherd, Beyonce.  Beyonce has been the Number One Australian Shepherd in the US for the past two seasons and has six BIS this year, two in the last month.

SALISBURY MD DAY FOUR

It’s day two for the Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club and day four of the five day set in that Mid Atlantic town.  Today Bill Shelton greeted the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwood’s Send Money Honey, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Whirlaways Ida Belle's A Ringing, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

It was the nation’s Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Affenpinscher, Joey, picking up his 28th big rosette of the year.  We will have to wait until all the weekend’s numbers are in before we can tell you if it was good enough to move him into the Number Four spot.

KALAMAZOO MI DAY TWO

GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction

Sue-Ellyn Rempel had final today in Kalamazoo MI for the hometown Kalamazoo Kennel Club.  She chose her BIS from the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Aplenspirit Just In Time, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Waybroke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Kokura Yama Jp Emirio, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Quiche’s Grande Finale.

It was the Standard Poodle, London, posting the consecutive win.    London and handler Ann Rairigh are making the most of what’s left of the show season, picking up their 30th all breed Best of 2011, and their seventh in the last two weeks.

GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night

Eric Hingle had the judge’s book at today’s Souhegan Kennel Club show in Fitchburg MA.  He had his pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Encore’s Rerun of Roirdan, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Devil Wears Prada, the Irish Terrier, CH Kell’s Touch of Fleet St, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Kimro’s Dora The Explorer, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Anthony, and a Bearded Collie from the Bred By class, MacCorkindale East of Faulkner.

The Springer, Zelda. collected her eleventh BIS of the year.  That gives us two English Springer Spaniels in the top 15 dogs all breeds.

KALAMAZOO MI DAY ONE

Great Lakes exhibitors are in Kalamazoo MI for today’s Greater Muskegon Kennel Club show.  Jane Forsyth chose her best of the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Killara’s Riders On The Storm, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Avatar white Rose No Shelter From The Storm, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Homebrewed Page Three Girl, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Kokura Yama Jp Emirio, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Aryakas Hermes.

Taking the big rosette back to the motor home was the Poodle, London.  London and handler Ann Rairigh have been collecting BIS like baseball cards these past few weeks, with six all breed Bests in the last 15 days. 

SALISBURY MD DAY THREE

The hometown kennel club took over on day three in Salisbury MD with Randy Garren in the final ring.  His special seven were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwood’s Send Money Honey, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

His BIS was the Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Peke, Malachy.   Malachy has 44  BIS this year and a dominating 98 Toy Groups this year.

SALISBURY MD DAY TWO

George Vukich had the BIS call at the day two show of the Talbot Kennel Club in Salisbury MD.  The seven dogs in his final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Myshadow’s Free for All RN CD, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo’s B’Mew Just in Queso, the Sealyham Terrier, CH Goodspice Fergus Pepper, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One.

His Best In Show was the six year old Springer, Riot.  Since his return to the conformation ring earlier this year he has made  three final appearances and now has his first all breed Best.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Fran Nemet, co-breeder Arlene Hannegan, and handler Angela Lloyd.  We will continue to look for a photo and more information on this one.

CHESHIRE KENNEL CLUB

The Cheshire Kennel Club’s show opened the four day set stop in Fitchburg MA and asked Douglas R Holloway Jr to call the BIS.  He considered the Pointer, GCH CH Tahari's To Wild To Be Serious, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Langrigg Star of the Stage, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Devil Wears Prada, American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's Sbigstaff Mad About You, the Havanese, GCH CH Fuzy farm Qbin Who's On First, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Anthony, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Char-Ma’s Chosen One.

Best went to the Beagle, Sage.  Sage and handler Bobby Fisher now have nine BIS in 2011.

COOK INLET KENNEL CLUB

While we wait for today’s results we can give you the last of last weekend’s results.  From Palmer AK we now hear that Stan Zielinski’s final seven at Sunday’s Cook Inlet Kennel Club show included the Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Royailes In The First Flush, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Xeralane’s Lucky Star, the Bullmastiff, CH Leatherneck’s It’s a Bull’s-Eye, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Shih Tzu, Ming Dynasty’s Samurai, the Boston Terrier, Heavenly Sunglo’s Spumante, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Quiche’s Intrepid Captain Sully.

His Best was the AmStaff, Jelly.  Jelly has been winning BIS and Terrier Groups all over these United States and now has 15 big rosettes on the year.

EL PASO TX

Yes, we know it’s Thursday & we have already reported results from this week’s shows, but we still have results from last weekend coming in.  From the bustling city of El Paso TX we have results from the Onate Trail Dog Fanciers Association’s two shows.

The Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, made the most of the weekend, picking up both of the available  big rosettes. Saturday Brix and handler Jay Serion were joined in Connie Clapp’s final by the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Scion Hott Pants RN, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Tji-Wara’s Distant Drums, the Dogues de Bordeaux, GCH CH Evergreen’s Rub My Belly at Rising Star, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Random Ruse, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH Wind Dancer Jenstar Backstage Pass, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Enchanted’s American Thunder.

Sunday Pat Trotter would choose Brix over the above named Golden, Wire Fox, & GSD, the GCH CH Windbourne’s Every Hand’s A Winner, the Mastiff, GCH CH Jaden’s Oliver Twist, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont.

Brix & Jay have been pressing hard this last month collecting five of their 16 Non-Sporting Groups this year.  These are his first two BIS this season.  Congratulations to Jay, breeder/owner Mary Grider, and owners Telitha Blackwood & Bruno Freitas.

SALISBURY MD DAY ONE

Our show week began today in Salisbury MD with the day one show of the Talbot Kennel Club.  The first final of the five day cluster was in the hands of Maralyn Busse. Her seven options were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwoods Send Money Honey, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Falcor-Hytide's Raisin' Cain RN, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Dalmatian, GCH CH  Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

The opener went to the Scottie, Phoebe.  Phoebe has been one of the most consistent Terriers in the US logging 50 Group Firsts so far this year.  Today was her fourth all breed BIS of the season.

ANTELOPE VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

Our next report comes in from the Los Angeles CA adjunct, the City of Industry, where the  Antelope Valley Kennel Club was set up on Sunday.  Sidney Marx had a spectacular seven, the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley's B'Dazzled, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Brobuds Brendan Of Bullmast, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrislu Kennislain's Chelsey, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Loranka's Aristocrat, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Segni At Coventry.

BIS was one of the rarest of the AKC breeds, the Harrier, Chet.  It’s the fifth Best In Show for Chet.

TR-STATE KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH  Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight

Spectators at this weekend’s Tri-State Kennel Club show in Joplin MO were treated to a record breaking performance by the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH  Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, who picked up her 16th career BIS on Saturday, the most ever by the variety.

Joining Dee Dee & breeder/owner/handler Gloria Johnson in Dr Sophia Kaluzniacki’s final on Saturday were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Crystal Glens Up Yours OA AXJ, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Belcanto Flags A Flyin, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream Of Style, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Snowy Rivers Avalanche JE, the Bulldog, Brysons Stewie, and the Rough Collie, CH Arrowhill Swords Held High.

On Friday, Dee Dee & Gloria picked up a BISS at the Chihuahua Club of Oklahoma show, her 25th BISS, including the Chihuahua Club of America’s National Specialty last month.  Congratulations to Gloria and co-breeder/owner Arthur Johnson.

Sunday BIS judge Joe Gregory would see the aforementioned Beagle & Boxer, and the Pointer, CH Chesterhope Sharp As, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Holdem, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Bekenhall Jailhouse Rock, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri Lees Diamonds Are Forever, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.

He would select the Beagle, Corbin as his Best.  It’s the fourth all breed Best for Corbin.

FORT WAYNE IN DAYS 3, 4, & 5

The really hard core dog show folk were in Fort Wayne IN for a full five days this past week.  Check our archives for results on Wednesday’s a& Thursday’s shows.


Friday the Sturgis Kennel Club had Houston Clark mull over the Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon‘s Wallstreet, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G‘s Mystical Dancer, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Sugarbush American Girl, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Oakhurst Crusin' In Chrome.

His Best for the day was the previous day’s winner, the Black Cocker Spaniel, Beckham.  And, no, you are not confused.  Beckham spent Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday in Fort Wayne before motoring down to Knoxville to pick up the BIS Sunday. 

Saturday Beckham was in the hunt again with Anne Katona in for the Marion Kennel Club.  The remaining six finalists were the abovementioned Afghan, Irish Terrier, & Bichon, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Spicerack She's All That RN, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Chain Of Fools.

Her choice was the four year old Briard.  This guy was a regular in finals in 2009 & 2010, but this is his first final of 2011 and his first career BIS. Congratulations to breeders Terry Miller, Amie Melton, & K & V Fox and owners Joe & Marsha Holava.

GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy

Robert Vandiver wrapped it up with the second installment of the Northeastern Indiana Kennel Club.  Making up the closer were prior finalists the Afghan Hound, & Bichon, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Beren's Hope Of Thorn Hill, the Norwich Terrier, Fishback Hard Tap, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Heavenly's Darling Dana, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Austin Ally Van Aachen.

Taking home the last big rosette of the set was AKC’s Number Ten Dog All Breeds, the Bichon, Drummer.  Drummer and handler Scott Sommer have collected 22 BIS this year.

LAKE EUSTIS KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman

The Lake Eustis Kennel Club was in Lady Lake FL this weekend for their two shows.  Day one’s final was commanded by Dr Dale Simmons who had his pick of the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Afterhours Trickeration  JH, the Basenji, GCH CH Taji’s Goes Platinum, the Boxer, GCH CH Boca Royal Palms Smarty’s Golden Girl,  the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Pekingese, GCH CH Briar-Mar American Giogolo at Vannjty, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Bodacious Sleeping with the Enemy, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Equinox, Ad Astra.

It was the winningest Skye Terrier in AKC history, Buddy picking up his 38th career BIS.  Buddy would also finish the weekend with another milestone, 100 Terrier Group Firsts, nearly twice the number of any other Terrier this year.

GCH CH Taji’s Goes Platinum

Dr Donald Gill closed it out Sunday with Buddy, the previously named Basenji, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gemini Fallchase The Butler Did It, the Black Russian Terrier, GCH CH Lancelot Chiorny Print RN, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dacun Kaylens He's A Heartbreaker, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, GCH CH Bluegrass Ivy League Z White Star.

 It was the Basenji, Fergie, picking up her second Hound Group of the year and her very first BIS.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Mary K Quinnett & Katie Campbell, co-breeder Larry Quinnett, and owner Cali C Shattuck.

KNOXVILLE TN DAY FOUR

Our nest stop this morning is Knoxville TN where Michele Billings closed the four day set for the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club.  Her final included the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derbys X Marks The Spot, the Welsh Terrier, GCCH CH Bayleigh Shaireab's Pinball Wizard, the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder.

She chose the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Cocker, Beckham, as her BIS.  Beckham has turned on the afterburners and is sprinting all alone to the finish line this year with a field leading 58 all breed Bests.

BACK MOUNTAIN KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Bloomsburg PA where it was all about the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.  Roy & handler Cliff Steele capped the weekend with back2back BIS taking both renditions of the Back Mountain Kennel Club.

On Saturday they were challenged by the Flat-Coated Retriever, CH Blacnflat Burns Allen George, the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Starbarrack's Babybug's Devil Of A Bug, the Bullmastiff, CH Dal Primo's B'Mew Just In Queso, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH  Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, and  the Schipperke, GCH CH DeLamer Point Break, before getting the nod from judge Bonnie Clarke.

Sunday Roy and the above named Affenpinscher & Schipperke would return to plead their case with judge Chris Walkowicz.  Rounding out the seven were the Vizsla, CH Brittania's Taylor Made For Two, the Whippet, CH Counterpoint Painted By Bohem,SC, the Akita, CH Wicca's Trade Secret, and the West Highland White Terrier, CH Rotella-Bay's I'M A Son Of A Gun.

That brings Roy’s 2011 take to 22 BIS and a Group leading 95 Herding Group Firsts.

VIRGINIA BEACH VA DAY FOUR

It’s all over in Virginia Beach and just like in the Dr Seuss tale, the Grinch has had a change of heart and has published the on line catalog with these results.

Keke Kahn’s final today featured the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt. View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline‘s Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigstaff Mad About You, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Dancee Moonlight Fashion, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Beauceron, CH Beowolf Rime des Monts du Lac.

It was the Beauceron, Rime, taking home the  BIS.  It’s the first AKC Best for the French import, who turned five this weekend.  Congratulations to breeder Eric Vavassori, owners Paul Prager & Joanne Prager, and handler Michelle Scott.

SAN GABRIEL VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

We wake this morning to a report that the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, was Johnny Shoemaker’s BIS at yesterday’s San Gabriel Valley Kennel Club show in City of Industry CA.  Ally was piloted to the win by handler Taffee McFadden, standing in for regular handler Tim Brazier.  Taffee is a long time friend of Tim, who is home recovering from by pass surgery.

Also on hand in the final ring were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Devlin's Jewel Of Meadow Run, the Black and Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Desert Bills Sing It To Me Baby, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislaine Chelsey, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak McDreamy, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy's If The Shoe Fits.

That’s Ally’s 39th BIS of the year, good enough to hold on to her Number Four Dog All Breed ranking.  We wish Tim a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the BIS ring soon.
