KENNEL CLUB OF BEVERLY HILLS

We don’t know if there were any Hollywood types at today’s Kennel Club of Beverly Hills’ show, but we do know there was plenty of glamour in Dana Cline’s final.

Among his finalists were the English Setter, GCH CH Sevenoaks Footprints OnTheMoon, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Mowgli, the Boxer, GCH CH Conquest-Rosend's New Kid In Town, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steel Your Heart, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Cashnross First Griff Tina Fey, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bon Idee's Garden Party.

His BIS was the Afghan, Mowgli.  Mowgli hasn’t been out as much this year as he was last when he snagged five BIS & 19 Hound Groups.  We congratulate breeders/owners Jay T Hafford & James P Blanchard and owner Ann Sterner on Mowgli’s second BIS of 2011.

BACK2BACK BIS FOR THE BEAGLE

One girl that is having a weekend full of fireworks is the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession.  A day after setting the all time record for most all breed BIS by a Beagle of either variety, Lola punctuated the occasion with the back2back win at today’s Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club show in Bainbridge NY.

Lola and breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas were accompanied in Rita Bell’s final by the Flat Coated Retriever, GCH CH Valhala Born In The 4th Of July (We love that one), Boxer, GCH CH. Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Cairn Terrier, CH Hampton Court Pick Pocket, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Cin-Don On The Road Again, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight's Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

New York exhibitors  will wrap it up tomorrow half an hour west of Bainbridge in Whitney Point NY.

LOST COAST KC OF CA, DAY TWO

West coast results are starting to come in.  The first we have for you is from the Northern California town of Ferndale where the Lost Coast Kennel Club Of California is set up for three days.

Day two’s BIS was called by Judith Daniels who had her pick of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gaia of Yoshida Enterprise Jp, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Windbourne’s Every Hands a Winner, the Boxer. GCH CH Rand G’s Mystical Dancer, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR’s Simply Irresistible, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Highwood’s Big Shot, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Raindance Written in Stone CD PT AX AXJ.

Best went to the AmStaff Jelly.  We’ve had the pleasure to see Jelly in person a couple of times and he always impresses.  It’s the second all breed BIS and the 19th Terrier Group First this year for Jelly and breeder/owner/handler Ed Thomason.

OKLAHOMA CITY DAY THREE OF FOUR

We’ve spent the past three hours watching today’s Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Club show in an on line broadcast by BarkNetwork.Com.  For those of you who didn’t get to watch it, here’s the run down.

The almost 2000 dogs entered were whittled down to the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits The Titanic, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH  Northgate’s AS You Like It, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Must Be Fate, the Smooth Fox Terrier, Waybroke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Kelaury Good Luck From We-Syng, the Lhasa Apso,     CH PRK Dancin Thru Life, and the German Shepherd, GCH CH Enchanted’s American Thunder.

Keke Kahn‘s BIS was the Chin, Lucky.  After watching the live broadcast we can’t believe it’s the first for the four year old dog.  Congratulations to breeders Benjie Speight, Wall Crumpler, & Nanette Wright, owners Abigail Free, Leanne Bertani & Nanette Wright, and owner/handler Victor H Cohen.

DAYTON KENNEL CLUB SHOW

From Lima OH we hear that the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Spicerack She’s All That RN, has won today’s Dayton Kennel Club show.  Joining “Kiera” and handler Rhanda Glenn in Robert Vandiver’s final were the Brittany, GCH CH Carrollton’s Count Lancelot, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wall Street, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Cracknor’s Cross the Ts, the Smoot Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon’s Blue Thunder.

It’s the first all breed Best for Kiera.  Congratulation to breeders Jean Biggins, Ed Biggins & Robin Henderson, owner Melisa Davis, and handler Rhanda Glenn.

SOUTHERN MARYLAND KC DAY TWO

Down in Bel Alton MD the day two show of the Southern Maryland Kennel Club has wrapped.  Joan Schurr Kefeli’s finalists were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the 15” Beagle, CH Lochnow Something Good, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic's Candied Ham Of Pebblesrun, The Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hightide Eclipse, and the Old English sheepdog, GCH CH Masquerade Mikey Likes It.

Her BIS as the US’ Number Two Toy Dog, the Affenpinscher, Joey.  It’s the 12th BIS this year for AKC’s Number Five Dog All Breeds.

HOCKAMOCK KENNEL CLUB DAY TWO

Ron Menaker had the final ring on day three in Wrentham MA.  The seven who survived the earlier competition at today’s Hockamock Kennel Club show were the Borzoi, GCH cH Greyhaven Wizard’s Crystal, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Stealing Time, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Bulldog, GCH CH Pat A Bull’s Bringing Sexy Back Stanley, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

It was the Peke, Malachy picking up his second BIS in as many days.  Malachy is the country’s Number Three Dog All  Breeds with 25 big rosettes this year.

BUSHY RUN KC DAY ONE

Our first report of the day is in from Vandergrift PA and the day one show of the Bushy Run Kennel Club.  Mary Lou Kniola’s seven hopefuls were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Lehi’s Crystal Ball at Bluriver, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH TuckerRidge Dugga Boy Simba Ridge, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Kontoki’s A Bend in the Road, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Waybroke Broxden Rudolph Valantano, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Diva’s Foreign affair, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Mistybrook Milagros GQ.

BIS was the Sheltie, Polo.  Polo’s first ever BIS was just a month ago.  Seems he’s decided to make it a habit.

MOUNT BACHELOR KC DAY ONE

We have reported the Number One & Three Dogs All Breeds have posted BIS today.  So we suppose it is no surprise to you that the Number Two Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, was Bill Shelton’s pick at today’s Mount Bachelor Kennel Club show in Redmond OR.

Ally and handler Tim Brazier were challenged for the win by the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Darkover Don't Dream It's Over, the Redbone Coonhound, CH Eskai’s Sir Kasper, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Catawba's Take No Prisoners, the Miniature Schnauzer, Curriers Pursuer Of Dreams, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak’s McDreamy, and the Beauceron, De Joie Du Chateau Rocher.

Ally has now logged 27 all breed BIS this year, more than any other dog this year.  Our top three have opened up a little distance on the rest of the field, but we are not ready to call this race yet.  Check back with us for the latest rankings updates.

LOST COAST KC OF CA, DAY ONE

Ferndale CA is a pristine little spot, full of colorful Victorian houses set between towering redwoods and spectacular Pacific vistas.  Throw in some AKC purebred dogs and you have a great holiday getaway.

Christina Hubbell’s final for the Lost Coast Kennel Club Of California’s day one show featured the Brittany, GCH CH Mitch’s Mt Ready Aim Fire, the 13” Beagle, CH Cabaret Catch a Smile, the Boxer, R and G’s Mystical; Dancer, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks a Peek, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR’s Simply Irresistible, the Keeshond, CH Windrift’s Money Talks, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon.

BIS was the Boxer, Danny.  Danny and handler Kimberlie Steele-Gamero have collected seven BIS in the last six weeks, climbing all the way up to the Number 15 Dog All Breeds.  That’s why he’s a DOG2WATCH.

OKLAHOMA CITY DAY TWO OF FOUR

It’s day two in Oklahoma City OK and the hometown kennel club continues to deliver the fireworks.   Valerie Gervais’ final seven were the day one BIS winner, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Waybroke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Pug, GCH CH Brazos River Not A Mystery, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante’s Fire When Ready HOF, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Pennant.

BIS was the nation’s Number Eight Dog All Breeds, the Whippet, Chanel.  Chanel’s 16th BIS of the year is big enough to make it a three way race for the Number Six spot and the weekend has not even really started yet.

CHENANGO VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

We are getting spotty results from the shows in Bainbridge NY.  While we have not heard much about yesterday’s Kanadasaga Kennel Club, we do have results from today’s Chenango Valley Kennel Club show and they are, in a word, historic.

The 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, collected her 41st career BIS, breaking the record for the  breed set by the 13" Beagle, CH Landbur Miss Fleetwood.  Also on hand in Edward Hall’s final were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gosling's Reel Deal, the Rottweiler, GCH CH D'Oro Solido's Feliciano Uno, the Cairn Terrier, CH Hampton Court Pick Pocket, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Cin-Don On The Road Again, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight's Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Lola and breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas have charmed their way across the US these past three years.  We hope you get a chance to see the two of them.  Congratulations to Marcelo and fellow breeder/owner Alessandra Botelho, and co-owner Marco Flavio.

Brian Meyer had the judge’s book at today’s Sandusky Kennel Club in Lima OH.  The seven he saw were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Brookwood Diamond In The Ruff, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wall Street, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Kontoki’s A Bend in the Road, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Cracknor’s Cross the Ts, the Smooth Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang’s Take It to the Limit, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon’s Blue Thunder.

His Best as the Shar-Pei, Mossimo.  It’s the first BIS this year for Mossimo and handler Nina Fetter.  Congratulations to Nina, breeders Linda Cosier & Lisa Myers, and owners Deborah & Robert Cooper & Linda Teitelbaum.

HOCKAMOCK KENNEL CLUB

Up in Wrentham MA day two fell to the Hockamock Kennel Club and BIS judge Terry Stacy.  He chose his best from the Flat Coat Retriever, GCH CH Fossilcreek Maple Sugar Merlin, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Xenos Jimlet, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet’s Laredo El Encanto, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Dalmatian, CH Riverside’s The Sisters, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Kensington’s Artful Dodger.

His Best was the Pekingese, Malachy.  Malachy’s 24th BIS of the season makes the race for the Number Two Dog All Breeds one to watch.

SOUTHERN MARYLAND KC DAY ONE

The Southern Maryland Kennel Club hosted the first of four all breed shows in Bel Alton MD this weekend and asked Sam Houston McDonald to do the day one final.

His seven hopefuls were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Celestial CJ’s Hearts On Fire, the Boxer, GCH CH Boca Royal Palms Smarty’s Golden Girl, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Anthony, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Rumpus Bumpus.

His BIS was the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Cocker, Beckham.  Beckham and handler Michael Pitts have had the happy ability to snag a Best In Show whenever the competition starts to gain on them.  This was their 26th of 2011.

OKLAHOMA CITY DAY ONE OF FOUR

We expected that this week’s cluster in Oklahoma City OK would be full of excitement and drama and the day one Oklahoma City Kennel Club show delivered.  Barbara Dempsey Alderman’s final included the German Wire Haired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Dogue de Bordeaux , GCH CH Evergreen's Rub My Belly At Rising Star, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Waybroke Broxden Turning Tanner, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon's Just Bee-Ing Silly, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Kylene Eden The Dragonslayer. 

Her BIS was the GWP, Oakley.  It’s the first all breed Best  for Oakley and handler Phil Booth after eleven final appearances this year.  That‘s what we call persistence.    Congratulations to Phil, breeders/owners Claire Wisch & Kelly Wisch and co-breeder Helen George.

HAWKEYE KENNEL CLUB

Not surprisingly we have late results from the Hawkeye Kennel Club’s to shows this past weekend in Iowa City IA.

Saturday’s final found Terri Lyddon mulling over the Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Royal-Art’s Tale-Gator, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wall Street, the Great Dane, GCH CH Don-Lou’s Don’t Tell Me No V Concord, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Reddawn’s Eminent Horizon, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Tradewind Amazing Grace, the Bulldog, GCH CH Evergreen’s Miss Congeniality, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Chargany’s Voyager.

Day one went to the striking Afghan, Wally.  Wally and handler Mark Bettis now have three BIS, all earned in the last ten weeks.

Sunday Peggy Haas would see an all new seven, the German Shorthaired Pointer, Kan-Point’s Leading the Chase, the Ibizan Hound, Ch Alisian Fields Epic Gyrl from Ipanema, the Boxer, Maxl’s In Your Dreams, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Big River’s Majestic Dawn, the Pug, CH Dynasty’s Shooter of the Pines, the Keeshond, CH Markwright’s Harbor Wave, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Frontier’s License to Carry at Margaux.

Her Best was the Keeshond, Nahmee.  It’s the first for the two year old bitch.  Congratulations to breeders Mary E. Meyer, D & D Daugherty, & T Neubauer, owner Bonnie Hammond Brown, and handler Charles Zimmerman.

HAVE YOUR DOG & EAT IT TOO!


Exhibitors will have ample opportunity to show their dogs and still take the Fourth off to grill some dogs.  In addition to the big Oklahoma City cluster, there are three other sites offering four day clusters this week.  

New Englanders will be in Wrentham MA starting Thursday for the Wampanoag Kennel Club & the Hockamock Kennel Club’s four shows.  New Yorkers will head up state for four shows, three in Bainbridge with the Kanadasaga Kennel Club, the Chenango Valley Kennel Club, & the Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club.  To get to the fourth show fanciers will have to motor the half hour west Sunday to  Whitney Point NY where the Susque-Nango Kennel Club will be set up.  In the Mid Atlantic the Potomac Hound Club will warm up Thursday for the Southern Maryland Kennel Club & the Rock Creek Kennel Club in Bel Alton MD, the only site holding a show on the Monday holiday.

In the Great Lakes region, there’s two shows in Vandergrift PA hosted by the Bushy Run Kennel Club, three shows in Lima OH courtesy of the Sandusky Kennel Club, the Dayton Kennel Club, & the Lima Kennel Club, and in West Bend WI with the Kettle Moraine Kennel Club.  Rocky Mountain Time Zone exhibitors will have the option of staying local for the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club’s two shows in Loveland CO.

For once west coast fanciers will have a full contingent of shows.  In Southern California rub elbows with celebrities at the Kennel Club Of Beverly Hills & Long Beach Kennel Club’s two shows in Long Beach or head to a totally different California in Ferndale where the redwoods are older than Declaration of Independence for the Lost Coast Kennel Club Of California’s to shows.  The Mount Bachelor Kennel Club will set up Friday and stay for three days in Redmond OR while the Bell Vernon Kennel Association will hold their two shows in Mount Vernon WA.

So make a long weekend it of it, visit an AKC show, and still enjoy the fireworks on the Fourth.

DOG SHOW LIVE ON LINE!

 
 This week’s shows include another opportunity to watch a marquee event live on line.  Saturday’s Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Club show in Oklahoma City OK will be streamed live by Tampa Digital and Carson International at barknetwork.com.

The show, one of four all breed events starting Thursday, always draws top ranked dogs from all over the US.  The week starts with several specialties on Wednesday, followed by the Oklahoma City Kennel Club’s two all breed shows Thursday & Friday.  In addition to Saturday’s broadcast show, the Mid-Del-Tinker KC will host the closing event on Sunday.

There will be an television broadcast at a later date,  We will let you know when to look for it.

MONTANA MARATHON ENDS

The Montana Marathon is over and the big winner is the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore.  The white beauty ended the eight day endurance test with two BIS, including yesterday’s closer, the day three show of the Five Valley Kennel Club, and seven Group Ones & one Group Two.

On the eighth day Ally and handler Tim Brazier were joined in final by the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek's Kiss and Tell, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Spyglass's Legend of Bahia, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks a Peak, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Simply Irresistible, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow of Cornus.

Ally and Tim now have 25 all breed BIS this season, matching the number won by the Number One Dog All Breeds.   Ally has a firm grasp on the Number Two spot and had cut the Number One dog’s lead by a third.  We have another point rich weekend scheduled this week.  Look for more changes in the rankings.

GREAT WESTERN TERRIER RESULTS.

Two of the more important limited breed shows of the season took place this past weekend in Long Beach CA, the Great Western Terrier Association Of Southern California’s two shows.

With over 800 dogs entered each day, this was a great opportunity for both exhibitors chasing majors and campaigners hoping to pick up scarce Terrier points.  Raymond Bay’s top dog on Saturday was the Welsh Terrier, CH Saredon It Had To Be You.  Rounding out the placements were the Norwich Terrier, CH Waiterock Jack Falstaff, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine's Highwayman,  and the Cairn Terrier, Rocco's Collar King Carl XVI Gustaf, in that order.  It's the first AKC BIS for Daisy, a recent British import.  Congratulations to breeder. Judith Aveeris, owner Victor Malzoni Jr, and handler RC Carusi.

Ken McDermott’s four on Sunday were the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, the Kerry Blue Perrisblu Kennislain's Chelsey, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Malverston Double Dutch, and the above named AmStaff.  The Wire Fox, Eira, has been an all breed threat for a while, picking up 13 Terrier Groups on her way to two all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Torie Steele & Maryann Roma, and handler Gabriel Rangel.

CAMBRIDGE MINNESOTA RESULTS

There were four shows in Cambridge MN this past week.  We did give you a report on Thursday’s Anoka County Minnesota Kennel Club.  Here’s the rest of the Minnesota results.

Friday was the ACKC’ day two show and they asked Dan Cline to take the judge’s book,  His seven up for consideration were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Whippet, GCH CH Kamada’s happy Hour, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Huntwoods Joy Ride Of Moorcroft, the Smooth Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder.

He went with the smallest among them, the Chihuahua, Dee Dee.  Dee Dee. The only Smooth Coat Chihuahua to win a BIS this year, now ahs four on 2011.

The hometown Cambridge Minnesota Kennel Club took over Saturday and ended the day with W Everett Dean Jr’s final.  His mostly new seven were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazrn Wingfields Wait Wait, the Saluki, CH Baywatch Babe Agrani, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambrias It Must Be Fate, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Huntwoods Joy Ride Of Moorcroft, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Knolland Amber, the Keeshond, GCH CH Karolina Bonnyvale Meant To Be, and the previously mentioned OES.

Stan Zielinski completed the stay on Sunday with the earlier named Black Cocker, Norwich, & Bichon, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Xeralanes Supersonic, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambrias Must Be Fate, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH We Syng Royal Etiquette, and the Border Collie, GCH CCH Sporting Fields Heiress.

The big dogs had their day with the Doberman, Karma, picking up her first BIS.  Barely two years old, Karma has been a regular finalist these past few months, with five appearances since April.  Congratulations to breeders Anne White & Sheila & Dr Anthony DiNardo, and owners Ann & Jim White & Glen Lajeski.

The Clackamas Kennel Club ‘s two shows in Canby OR this weekend were among the largest we saw this week.

Saturday’s entry topped 1800 and the seven asking Richard Lashbrook for consideration were the English Setter, CH Winchester's Taylor Made JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline's Chanel, the Newfoundland, GCH CH BigDogFarm Oh My Baby Huey, the Cairn Terrier, Cook's The Chronicles Of Riddick, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Full Of Malarkey Miles Of Aisles, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Paray's Power & Priviledge, and the Belgian Tervuren, CH Sky Acres Flying Solo.

BIS was the Newfoundland, Huey.   It’s the first for the four year old this year.  Congratulations to Breeder Andrea Cook, owners Lee & Rick Cole.

Sunday Anne Fleming saw the same Whippet, Newfoundland, & Bichon, the Pointer, CH Coralwood Wynot Step Up To The Plate, the Bedlington Terrier, CH Pineriver Show Me The Money and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CHC C-Myste Baledwr Free To Disagree.  She chose the nation’s Number Nine Dog All Breeds, the Whippet, Chanel.  Chanel 15th BIS of the year could net enough points to move her up to the eighth spot.

MONTANA MARATHON CONTINUES

We have neglected the Montana Marathon these past few days.  So let’s catch you up.  When last we checked in with our band of doggy gypsies they had just left Billings for Great Falls and the Electric City Kennel Club’s two shows.

Friday’s final was called by James Reynolds.  The seven hoping to catch his eye were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Boxer, R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Chih Tzu, GCH CH Xeralane’s Eye of the Storm, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Mistybrooks Panda Crossing.

His BIS was the Pharaoh Hound, Qing.  Qing, the Number One Hound in the US, now has 22 big rosettes this season.

Day two was Joann Dutton’s turn to choose the best In Show and she chose from the above named Pharaoh Hound, Boxer, Smooth Fox, & Standard Poodle, the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk’s Copy Right, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Enchanted’s American Thunder. 

Her Best was the Smooth Fox, Adam.  Adam is currently the country’s Number One Terrier with ten BIS.

Sunday the whole crowd reconvened in Missoula MT for the Five Valley Kennel Club’s three shows.  Day one’s final featured Dr Robert Smith going over the return finalists the Weimaraner, the Smooth Fox, & the Standard Poodle.  Whippet, GCH CH Endeavor’s White Roses on Nysa Hill, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Marienburg’s Maserati at Northstar, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Simply Irresistible, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow at Cornus.

It was the Doberman, Tess, picking up her first BIS.  Just two year’s old we expect to see more of this beauty.  All we have right now is the puppy photo, but she was a gorgeous puppy, yes?  Congratulations to breeder/owner Lisa Carnes and co-breeder Mary Rodgers.

GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore

Yesterday, judge Timothy Doxtater’s lineup included the aforementioned Weimaraner, Pharaoh Hound, Boxer, Smooth Fox, Standard Poodle, & Bouvier, and the Maltese, GCH CH Rhapsody’s Regarding Henry.  His Best In Show was the Poodle Ally.  The win, her 24th this year, will giver her sole possession of the Number Two Dog All Breeds spot.

The eight day trek wraps up today in Missoula with the day three show of the Five Valley KC.

VALAPARAISO IN DAY THREE TO FIVE

One of the largest clusters this week was in Valparaiso IN where there were five shows.  We have already reported out on last Wednesday’s Michiana Kennel Club event & Thursday’s Valparaison Kennel Club show.

Edd Bivin had the VKC’s day two final on Friday.  He chose his BIS from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery Its In The Bag, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Fort Merrill Topsfield Yahoo, the Samoyed, GCH CH Glacier's N Rowdy's Czargent Trouble, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Kambara's Zebulon, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Ken's N' Roobarb N" The Horse Ya Rode In On, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Equinox Ad Astra.

He chose the Shih Tzu, Austin.  Austin is on a summer roll with three BIS in the last six weeks.

The MKC’s day two show on Saturday featured Arley Hussin’s final with the previously mentioned Golden, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Clos Erasmus, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Indigo Synama Wood Imp, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Brightluck's Prancing Pirate JE, the Shih Tzu, Austin, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri Lee’s Diamonds Are Forever, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Aryakas Hermes.

BIS went to the Golden, Chloe. Chloe has four big rosettes this season, all within the last 60 days.

Murrel Purkhiser and the Berrien Kennel Club closed out the set on Sunday.  The seven final finalists were the above named Greyhound, Siberian, & Shih Tzu, the Golden Retriever, CH Chateau's Think Big, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Jennycreek Lord Bacchus, the Irish Terrier, GCH cH Sugarbush’s American Girl, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Glren Oaks Firekeeper's Gambler, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Bandheim’s Captain Crunch.

The fifth day Best In Show was the Greyhound, Era.  Era has been one of the season’s most consistent finalists with 21 Hound Groups to date yielding three all breed BIS.

DAYS TWO & THREE IN ORLANDO FL

Floridians were treated to three days of shows in Orlando this past week.  You can read about Friday’s Brevard Kennel Club show here.

The rest of the weekend was dominated by the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, who copped the top prizes at both Saturday’s Central Florida Kennel Club & Sunday’s Space Coast Kennel Club Of Palm Bay.  Saturday judge Dr Wanda Spediacci chose Classie over the Pointer, GCH CH Solivia's Kalahari of Marsuz, the 13” Beagle, CH Skyline’s Dream Big, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Cammcastle’s My Gigolo, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hightide Eclipse, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Telltail Like a Rolling Stone.

Sunday Classie and owner/handler Armando Angelbello were accompanied in Stephanie Hedgepath’s final by the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Edgewood Casino Celebrity, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar’s Masterpiece, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the aforementioned Skye & Poodle, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Rumpus Bumpus.

The wins bring Classie’s 2011 resume to eight BIS, half of which have come in the last five weeks.  That should improve the rankings a bit.

It’s Monday Morning Mop Up time and we will start with another club that practices that secret catalog thing.  You know, withholding the on line catalog in the hopes you might sell another $50 worth of printed catalogs, even though it’s gonna cost you $500 in next year’s entries.

The Virginia Kennel Club passed the weekend in Richmond VA and the weekend belonged to the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, who swept both of the VKC’s shows On Saturday Scarlett was joined by the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Brasswinds Roadracer At Warwick, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Wheatridge’s Pecan Sandie, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Bayleigh Shaireab’s Passion, the Pug, GCH CH Kenshei And That’s The Way It Is, the Bichon Frise, CH Vogelflight’s Taywyn Tarragon, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Brookridge Pop Secret.

Sunday Scarlett and handler Diego Ferrnando Garcia bested the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, CH Kaplar's I Got Rythym, the 15” Beagle, CH Lochnow Something Good, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Efbe’s Goodspice Easy Money, the above named Pug, the Dalmatian, Troika Nspird Magical Thinking, and the Border Collie,
Hamilton’s Drummer Boy.

Scarlett, the nation’s Number Four Dog All Breeds, now has 71 career BIS, 17 of which have come this year.

MACOMB KC DAY TWO

The Macoomb Kennel Club’s day two show in Armada MI ended with Ken Rayner mulling over the Spinone Italiano, GCH Klondike's Frederico Ilario, the Ibizan Hound, CH Serandida Shadow On The Moon, the Leonberger, Ludwick's Belle Von Drea, the Sealyham Terrier, CH Thunder Rd Hollywood Nites, the Maltese, CH Scylla’s Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Lowchen, CH Touche's Undercover Agent Rainbow, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Quiche's Grand Finale.

His BIS was the 19 month old Maltese, Hank.  It’s his first,  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Tara Martin Rowell, co-breeder Vicki Abbott, and owners Debbie Burke & Ron Scott. 

WAYNESBURG PA DAY FOUR OF FOUR

The Mountaineer Kennel Club asked Martin Dougherty to take the last ring in Waynesburg PA.  His seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender is the Night, the Afghan Hound, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards Rhythm of the Rain, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Cracknor’s Cross the Ts, the Papillon, GCH CH Lafford Fly Me Too Farlysbane, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Anthony, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One.

Taking home the last big rosette of the stop was the Papillon, Dave.  It’s the fourth BIS this year for the British import.

CUMBERLAND ME DAY FOUR OF FOUR

Carl Gene Liepman had the last word in Cumberland ME today.  His seven finalists at the day two show of the Penobscot Kennel Club were the Flat Coat Retriever, GCH CH Meadowrue Knight of Quillquest , the Borzoi, GCH CH Greyhaven Wizard‘s Crystal, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Moncusser Follow the Fleet, a Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Notice Northern Lights, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Kavalor Fenway Park, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Riverside’s The Sisters, and the Briard, CH Ne Orageux’s Al Capone.

Picking up the last BIS of the set was the Briard, Capone.  This is first this year for Capone.  Congratulations to breeders/owners William & Rebecca Webber & C Moore, owners Merry Jeanne Millner & Tommy Millner, and handler Joan Scott.

STATEN ISLAND KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Ruffian’s Spotlight

New Yorkers finished up their four day weekend with a one day stop in Staten Island NY with the hometown Staten island Kennel Club.  Susan St John Brown’s finalists today were the Irish Setter, GCH Greengate’s The Boss at Beaubriar RN, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Sommerri Dunharrow’s Devil Ray, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Snocrest's Leone Di Oro, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Coleraine’s Mandalay Royalty, the Pug, GCH CH Foursquare I’ll Be a Shostopa Tu, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Ruffian’s Spotlight, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Xtacee Dancin in the Moonlight.

Her BIS was the Dalmatian, Ian.  Ian and handler Michael Scott just picked up their first all breed Best last month and now have two.  We think there will be another soon.
