BOSTON BIS NEAR BOSTON

New England exhibitors joined the fun today at the Greater Lowell Kennel Club in Wilmington MA.  The day ended with judge Dr Dale Simmons in the final ring with the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Blackstone Very Vassar, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Marbens Ruffian, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Sheaman’s Son of an Irishman, a Pomernaina from the classes, Foxworth Fine Tuned Instrument, the Boston Terrier, CH Kennedy’s Hoot n Holler, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.


Collecting the BIS was the Boston.  Accepting the RBIS was the Cocker, Amelia.   It was the first BIS and first Non-Sporting Group for the two year old dog. Congratulations to breeders Lillian G Reps & Cyndi Bussey and owners Teresa L Hill & Thomas Hill.   We hope to have a photo for you soon.

The Florida Marathon competed its ninth iteration today with judge Cindy Meyer in the final ring for the Clearwater Kennel Club.  The seven dogs who joined her were the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Papillon, GCH CH Wildfire On the Record, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Kimik’s Who Dunnit, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek’s Galaxy of Merivern.

The two he liked were the PWD, Matisse, and the Skye, Charlie.  It’s the eighth BIS this year for Matisse in 11 outing this year.  The win puts Matisse within a few hundred points of the game leading Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Terry Stacy had the judge’s book at today’s Oakland County Kennel Club final and his pick of the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze’ R’N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the 15” Beagle, Gwencalon’s Lux Stellarum, the Mastiff, CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

Going to the head of the line was the Shih Tzu, Rocket, followed by the Mastiff, Aji.  It was the first BIS for the 20 month old dog.  Congratulations to breeders/owners/handlers Luke and Diane Ehricht.

The Carroll Kennel Club was the host today in Westminster MD and they put judge Shelley Hennesy in the final ring with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Mario N Beechwood's Midnight Express, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir, the Leonberger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Welsh Terrier, CH Sanherpinc Poporopo At Teritails, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Beauty & Beat, the Miniature Poodle, CH Bellefleet’s Living in the Fast Lane, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Nchanted Silk Lining.

The two who emerged on top were the Leonberger, Odin, and the Welsh Terrier, Poppy.  Odin is the top winning Leonberger in AKC history and one of only two to win and BIS, finishing 2013 with one BIS and six Working Groups.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Lisa Bazlen and handler Cheryl Cannon.

While fanciers were pursuing the big points in Portland OR, Southern California exhibitors were enjoying the good life in Ventura at yesterday’s Channel City Kennel Club show.  Judge Lowell Davis chose his top two from the English Springer Spaniel,  CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Black Russian Terrier, GCH CH Aristes Paint It Black, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Everyday Magic Of Maryscot, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla Small Kart Re-Lit, the Bichon Frise, Newtnine Crown of Queen, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential.

Finishing  one/two were the Bloodhound, Kissy, and the Springer, Maddox.  Kissy has been the nation’s Number One Bloodhound for the last four years, collecting 10 BIS and 41 Hound Groups in 2013.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Susan Lacroix and Heather Whitcomb  and handlers Tara & Bruce Schultz.

The Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, ensured his Number One Dog All Breeds ranking with a BIS win at yesterday’s Dog Fanciers Association Of Oregon show in Portland OR.   Judge Patti Widdick Neale also liked the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, whom she gave the RBIS.

Joining them in the final ring were the Spinoni Italiano, GCH CH Javal’s Tangerine Man, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH  CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà Vu, and the Bichon Frise, Kmans Miss Fancy Pants.  Swagger and breeder/owner/handler Colton Johnson have now collected three of the biggest prizes of the year and will likely be the odds on favorite going in to next month’s Westminster Kennel Club show.  However, we wouldn’t bet the lunch money just yet.
