KERN COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

Bakersfield CA, the site of the Kern County Kennel Club’s two March shows, is located in Central California just off of I-5 the artery that supplies the entire west coast of the United States.

Saturday’s final had Garry Newton in the final ring with Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Shiloah's Harvard Girl One Smart Spicy, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wall Street, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Skansen's Leather & Lace Of Twilight, the Border Terrier, GCH CH McHill's HRH Prince Gizmo House Of Gremlin, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters, the French Bulldog, Hilsman  Napachal Cruel Intentions, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay’s Preferential.

His Best was the Afghan, Wally, and his reserve was the Sheltie, Satoshi.  We haven’t heard much  from Wally since February of last year  when he picked up a BIS in Indianapolis.  The KCKC win is his first of 2013. Congratulations to breeders/owners Jay Hafford & James Blanchard, and owners Debbie Rogers & JW Rogers.

The Sheltie, Satoshi, would be the only of Saturday’s finalists to make it back to Patti Widick Neale’s BIS ring.  He was joined by the Golden Retriever, CH Quailwood's Outta The Park Grand Slam, the Whippet, GCH CH Fanfare's Cordova At Runners, the Boxer, CH Daybreaks Bad Influence, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding V Sole Baye, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà vu, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore.

And it would be Satoshi taking home the big rosette.  The Schnauzer, Justin, picked up the Reserve.  Satoshi has showed great promise since winning back2back BIS in Portland in January.  This was his fourth BIS this season.

Our next report comes in from the town of Navasota TX, 70 miles northwest of Houston.  The Brazsos Valley Kennel Club hosted two shows on March 30th and 31st, capping day one with Rodney Merry’s final.  His seven hopefuls were the Irish Setter, CH Jadestar Rifleman, the 15” Beagle, Honey Pot's Poetry In Motion, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Toast with Gusto, the Norwich Terrier, CH Thunderwood's First Robin Of Spring, the Pug, CH Bookmark's Uncommonly Good, the Keeshond, Ruttkay Chance, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Quiche's Infinity And Beyond.

Best went to the Greater Swiss, Gus, and Reserve went to the Norwich, Robbie.  It’s Gus’ third Best In Show of the year.

Sunday Paula Hartinger would consider the above named Irish Setter, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Maya's Mockingbird, the Siberian Husky, CH Antara's Fat Bottomed Girl, the Norwich, Robbie, the Havanese, GCH CH Yayas Dancing Through Life, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

She would choose the Bichon, Bingo, as her Best and the Irish Setter, as her Reserve.  Bingo and handler Scott Sommer now have four BIS this season.

CLAREMORE KC OF OKLAHOMA

The Claremore Kennel Club of Oklahoma spent the last two days of March hosting two shows in their hometown.  Jon Cole’s BIS line up on Saturday included the Pointer, GCH CH Penpoint-Honor Abracadabra, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Akita, GCH CH Liric's Cinderella Man, the Parsons Russell Terrier, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatt's Autumn Breeze.

His top two were the Saluki, Bubbles, and the Parsons, Heidi.  Bubbles has been the Number One Saluki in the US for the last two seasons and has four BIS this year.

Jan Paulk had the closer and her pick of the Clumber Spaniel, Clussexx Proof Positive, the Saluki, Bubbles, the above named Akita, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Lohona Zephyr I Can't Look Away, the Chinese Shar Pei, GCH CH Jade East Do You Know The Way To San Jose, and the Rough Collie, CH Wild Wind’s Promise A Fast Finish.

Her BIS was the Shar-Pei, Jose, and her RBIS was the StaffyBull, Ollie.  It’s Jose’s second BIS of the year.

MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

We will start our Monday Morning Mop Up with a report on our Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AftgerAll Painting the Sky.  Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel have spent the last three weekends in Las Vegas, Phoenix, & Sacramento, picking up five BIS awards.

Sky swept the Silver State Kennel Club’s two shows in Sin City, starting with James Reynolds final with the RBIS, the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Foxfire’s Tell Me About It, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk Imagine That, the Shiba Inu, CH Morningstar's Dances With Wolves, and the Canaan Dog, GCH CH Pleasant Hill Magnum Of Samara.

She followed the next day with another big rosette from Stephen Hubbell who also liked his reserve, the above Bloodhound, Kissie.  Rounding out the seven were same Clumber, the Newfoundland, GCH CH  Darbydale's All That and More, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Winning Ribbon, the French Bulldog, Diva's Bastille My Heart, and the previously seen Canaan Dog.

Sky and Gabriel would join the party already in progress in Phoenix on Sunday, April 7th.  Two days earlier Dr Alvin Krause gathered the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Dogwdcreek's La Vite E Bella, the Bloodhound, Kissie, the Samoyed, GCH CH Polar Mist Cat B'Lue, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding V Sole Baye, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, and the Canaan Dog, Magnum. 

Dr Krause’s top two for the Kachina Kennel Club’s day one show were the Bloodhound, Kissie, and the GSP, Bella.  Kissie has been the nation’s Number One Bloodhound for the last three years.  She has three BIS and 11 Hound Groups.

Dr Sophia Kaluzniacki would take the KKC’s day two final and choose the GSP, Bella, as her Best and the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, as her Reserve.  Also on hand were the Mastiff, GCH CH Lexington Divine's Put Me In Coach, the above named Miniature Schnauzer, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the Bichon Frise, CH Karmel's Banana in Pajamas, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Mary Ellen Compagnon had the day one final of the Arrowhead Kennel Club.  Judge Compagnon would consider Sky along with the GSP, Bella, the Harrier, Chet, the Rottweiler, GCH CH  Highwood's Call of The Wild, the previously mentioned Pug, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Sundancer Hylan Shotru Secret Dawn, and the aforementioned Corgi.  She would choose the Rottweiler, and the Lhasa as her BIS and RBIS.  It’s the first all breed BIS for the three year old dog.  Congratulations to breeders Anthony Siress & Daviann Mitchell and owners Dennis & Tracy Austin.

Sky and Gabriel would bring it home on Monday with the BIS award from Frank Sabella.  Judge Sabella’s Reserve was the Corgi, Allie.  Also asking for a look were the GSP, Bella, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Red Dawg's Right On Time, Sunday’s BIS winner, the Rott, the previously seen Toy Poodle, and Sunday’s RBIS, the Lhasa.

This past week Sky returned home to California for the annual trek to the State Capital, Sacramento, for the Northern California Terrier Association’s two limited breed shows and the Sacramento Kennel Club’s two all breed shows.  Sky would pack up all four Group One awards as well as the two matching big rosettes.  Saturday’s SKC final included Ronald Rella’s RBIS, the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward, the Harrier, Chet, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Lowdown's Remys Girl v Ardenhout, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classi Red Glare, the French Bulldog, GCH CH LeBull's El Morocco At Lecirque, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Kensington's Artful Dodger.

Sunday, Edd Bivin like Sky more than he did his Reserve, the MinPin, Classie, or the same Field Spaniel, Harrier, Giant, Corgi, or the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Penndragon Owain.  The five BIS brings to 18 Sky’s total so far this year and a nearly 10,000 point lead on the rest of this year’s top ranked dogs.

CATCHING UP IN IOWA

continue our catch up reporting with results from the Clinton Iowa Kennel Club’s March shows in De Witt IA.  Day one saw Virginia Lynne choose her top two from the Labrador Retriever, CH Paradocs Obsidian, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Vondura's Xcelerator Belle Amie, the Border Terrier, CH Meadowlake Pants On Fire, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin’s Hearts on Fire, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Serenity's Walk in the Park.

Her Best and Reserve were two beautiful black dogs, the Poodle, Flame, and the Lab, Sid.    Flame may be the only dog in our Top 100 whose mother was a top Ten Dog All Breeds.  CH Dawin Spitfire was 2010’s Number Nine Dog.  Flame has four BIS in 21 final appearances this year.

GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It

On Sunday Flame and Sid would be back to please their case with judge Randy Garren along with the same Basset, Border Terrier, Sheltie, the Rottweiler, CH Redfield's Itz My Tyme RN and the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It.  Judge Garren would give Flame the RBIS and give the BIS to the Pug, JJ.  JJ is the country’s Number 13 Dog All Breeds with four BIS and 16 Toy Groups.
