One of AKC’s most experienced and knowledgeable judges, Jane Forsyth, had tonight’s Non-,Sporting Group.  While many of the country’s top Non-Sporting Groups failed to enter this year’s AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, the four judge Forsyth placed were beautiful.  Taking the top spot were the impressive Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, followed by the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, a Chinese Shar-Pei who came out of the classes, Jade East Mission Into Space, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Itza Brix.

AENC SPORTING GROUP

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire

The Sporting Group had several surprises, including 2011’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction.   The four dogs that judge Bonnie Threlfall liked were 2013’s Number One Sporting Dog, the  Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Albridens The Show Must Go On, the winningest Sporting Dog of all time, the Black Cocker, Beckham, and the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen.

AENC TOY GROUP

GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded

Judge Luc Boileau had the Toy Group tonight, which included a number of dogs that he has not seen this year.   However, his top dog was well known to American fanciers, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded.  His Number Two Dog is a relative newbie, though from a well-known kennel, the Toy Poodle, Smash Jp Beauty and the Beat.  His Number Three Dog was this year’s Number One Toy Dog and Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and his Number Four Dog was the  Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Northern Star.

AENC HOUND GROUP

GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box

Judge Frank Sabella stepped into judge tonight's AENC Hound Group, thoroughly going over the group.  His top four were the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the 2013 Crufts winner, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Soletrader Peek a Boo, and the relative newcomer, the Whippet, CH Sporting Fields Shameless.  Breeder/owner/handler Lisa Miller noted that the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship will be the last show for AKC’s winningest American Foxhound in history.

ENGLISH SPRINGER GETS ANOTHER

CH Telltale American Ride

While many of the country’s top dogs were in Orlando today the Richland County Kennel Club drew a healthy entry of 2247 dogs in the regular classes for their Saturday event.  The seven that survived to see judge Wendy Wilhauck’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Telltale American ride., the Afghan Hound, CH Pahlavi Itz Not My First Rodeo, the Rottweiler, CH Gamegard I’ll Have Another at Braeside, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Angel’s Whisper, the Italian Greyhound, CH Integra Maja Scattered Pearls, the Bulldog, GCH CH Mytoys Epic Against the Wind and the Briard, GCH CH Lighting Strike El Xargall.

GCH CH Joval Angel’s Whisper

Getting his second BIS of the set was the Springer, Randy.  Taking home the RBIS was the Airedale, Wispa. Randy is coming up on his third birthday next month.  We look forward to seeing this one again.

OUR SATURDAY ORLANDO PICKS

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire

The evening group judging is about to start here at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando FL.  Let’s take a quick look at some of the favorites tonight.  First in the Sporting Group look for a face off between 2011’s Number One Dog All Breeds and the Number One Sporting Dog of all time, the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, and this year’s Number One Sporting Dog and Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire.  We also like the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour and the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen.

GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box

In the Hound Group look for the Top Two Hounds, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, and the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, to be challenged by two sighthounds, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, and the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, who only shows sporadically, but wins consistently.

GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare

Our Toy Group saw some upsets today, but there are still some heavy hitters competing.  All eyes will be on the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, who has already won two BIS in Orlando this week.  The Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded will definitely impress, as will the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, and the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop.

GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin

Finally, Many of the top Non-Sporting Dogs failed to enter here in Orlando, but we still have top ranked multiple BIS winners to take their places.  Look for the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Dreamland’s Wanna Be a Billionaire.
