IT'S THE GREAT DANE IN NC

The Moore County Kennel Club Of North Carolina opened their two day stop in Pinehurst NC today, capping their first show with Frank Sabella’s final.  He chose his Reserve & Best from the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Nautica’s Wind River Gold RN, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Glamour Girl, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore Diamond Lil, a Wire Fox Terrier from the classes, Fox Creep Jp I Wish, a Papillon, also from the classes, Afternoon Delight Forussi, the Schipperke, GCH CH Nanhall’s Phoenix on Fyre, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Masquerade Mikey Likes It.

Collecting the top prizes were the Field Spaniel, Hudson, and the Great Dane, Scout.  Our DOG2WATCH  Scout has been dazzling judges and galleries around the US this year, collecting eight BIS along the way.

FALMOUTH MA DAY THREE OF FOUR

Our first results for the day come in to us from Falmouth MA where the Cape Cod Kennel Day hosted the third show of the four day stop.  Virginia Lyne greeted the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Reflects The Sky, the Leonberger, GCH CH A. Feiner Eros, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Pekingese, CH Yakee Easily Persauded, the Lowchen, GCH CH Windsor Bihar Chasing Rainbows, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One, to the final ring.

The two she chose for awards were her Reserve, the Afghan Hound, Flex, and her Best In Show, the Springer, Peyton.  Peyton picks up his second BIS of the set, his 40th of the year.

AMARILLO TX DAYS 1 & 2

The Panhandle Kennel Club of Texas checks in with the results of their first two shows of four this week in Amarillo TX.  On Thursday the seven who hung around to see Lesley Hiltz were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Win'Weim's It's My Grey Goose, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Akita, GCH CH Sherob Stardust It Had To Be You, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Hold’Em, the Toy Poodle, CH Cache's Princess Grace De'Monaco, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Padow’s Twillight Embrey In a New Moon at Asans, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lonestar Margarita Rose.

The two remaining at the end of the day were the Chow, Coco, who received the Reserve award, and the Harrier, Chet, claimed the Best In Show.  The country’s Number Two Hound now has eleven BIS this year.

Chet would be the only of Thursday’s finalists to return to the final ring on Friday.  Norm Kenney’s other choices were the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor Flirt's High Flyin' Gladiator, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Lawee Logan O'The Glen, the Pomeranian, Oakrose High N' Mighty, the Miniature Poodle, Sandstorm X's In Texas, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.  Chet would collect the RBIS while the Corgi, Libby, would take the BIS.  Libby has four BIS in 43 final appearances.  Now that’s tenacity.

Day two in Gilbert PA saw P Levi Marsman in the final ring for the Pocono Mountain Kennel Club on Friday.   The seven asking for consideration were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Akita, GCH CH Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Dogwood’s Treasure Hunter, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Keeshond, GCH CH KJ’s Nothing Purrsonal, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.

The two who convinced judge Marsman were the GWP, Oakley, who took home the RBIS, and the Foxhound, Jewel, who grabbed the  BIS.  Jewel and breeder/owner/handler Lisa Miller have gathered 23 BIS this year, good enough to make Jewel the Number One Hound this year.  Jewel has been sitting in the Number Eleven All Breeds spot for some time, just waiting for an opportunity to join the Top Ten.  This win still leaves a her a little shy of that mark, but then she has two more chances at it this weekend.

FALMOUTH MA DAY TWO OF FOUR

Sharol Candace Way had the South Shore Kennel Club’s  final today in Falmouth MA.  Asking her for consideration were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Saluki, GCH CH Quanmarra Thonolan, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Freestyle The Wiz, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Pekingese, CH Yakee Easily Persuaded, the Lowchen, GCH CH Windsor Bihar Chasing Rainbows, and the Australian Shepherd, Vinelake’s One Fell Swoop.

Her top two were the Lowchen, Chase, who took home the RBIS, and the BIS, the Saluki, Oliver.  Oliver will celebrate his second birthday next week.  His first BIS seems like a great way to start his specials career.  Congratulations to breeders Erin Brown & Penny Dunkley, owners Keith Scerbo, Roberta Scerbo, & Ian Rasmussen.

GILBERT PA DAY ONE OF FOUR

The Pocono Mountain Kennel Club opened the four day set yesterday in Gilbert PA.  Kathleen Kolbert had a powerhouse seven from which to choose her Top Two.  They were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View Ripsnorter’s Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Akita, GCH CH Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, GCH CH B-Loved Nothing But Net, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Pine Hill’s Payday Of Hayshill.

The two she liked were her Reserve, the Bulldog, and her BIS, the Scottie, Phoebe.  Phoebe has seven BIS this year and 63 Terrier groups, the most by any Terrier.

CAPE COD KENNEL CLUB 1

Our Number One Dog All Breeds was on the Cape, Cape Cod, that is, for today’s Cape Cod Kennel Club show in Falmouth MA.  Joining the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, in Norm Patton’s final today were the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Boxer, GCH CH Lazy K’s Dulce de Leche, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me A Spot, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded, the Lowchen, GCH CH Windsor Bihar Chasing Rainbows, and the Beauceron, CH Beowolf Rime Des Monts Du Lac.

When it was all over the Peke, Rodger, had the Reserve ribbon, and the Springer, Peyton, the Best In Show rosette.  Peyton begins his defense of the Number One ranking this week with his 39th BIS of the season.

Our last report from this past week comes in from Brownsville OR and the Eugene Kennel Club.  Cindy Meyer had Saturday’s final and the company of the Brittany, GCH CH Mich's Mt Ready Aim Fire, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator's Asta Primadonna, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Crizwood Undeniable, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Silveroaks First & Foremost, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Flying Solo.

The two she awarded were the RBIS, the Tervuren, Solo, and the BIS, the Ridgeback, Rachel.  It’s the first BIS for the 19 month old ingénue.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Ana Paola Diniz. and handler Amy Linton.

Those Top two were the RBIS, the AES, Primo, and the AmStaff Jelly.  Jelly is the country’s Number One American Staffordshire Terrier, with nine BIS this year.  Jelly’s 24th career BIS brings him with three of the record for American Staffordshire Terriers.

The ambitious West Central Oklahoma Kennel Club held four shows in Elk City OK this past week.  We’ve already reported out of Thursday’s & Friday’s action.  Saturday & Sunday belonged to the Boxer bitch, GCH CH Winfall I Dream Style.

On Saturday Macey was Dr Daniel Dowling’s BIS, besting the RBIS, the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle of Kilauea, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader Maggie May at M&M, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Hold’Em, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Bar-None Fabulosity, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

Sunday, Pat Trotter preferred Macey and her, RBIS,  the Pharaoh Hound, CH Faouziah's Faramir, to the returning Vizsla  & Corgi, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Mcscots-Karascots Ruffton's Six Shooter, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH GCH CH Wind Dancer Jenstar Backstage Pass, and the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Fire When Ready HOF.  Macey and handler Michael Shepherd now have twelve BIS this year.

DES MOINES KENNEL CLUB

The hometown Des Moines Kennel Club drew some of our top dogs to that Iowa city this past weekend for its two shows.  On Saturday, the seven who made it to the end of the day were the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Hitrails Clouds In My Eyes, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queens Armada SL, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol Veni Vidi Vici, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Gordons Bite Of The Apple, the Pug, CH House Poory JP YumYum Zerohour, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Gunthers Gussied Up At Edna, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, CH Swancrest The Power Of Love Eternal.

The two that Dr Robert Indeglia liked were his Reserve, the Cocker, Daniel,  and his Best In Show, the Boston Terrier, Edna.   Edna is the Boston Terrier Club of America’s 2012 Boston Terrier of the Year.  The win was the first BIS by a Boston Terrier this year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Brook W Berth, owners Andy & Jack McIlwaine, & handler Jason McIlwaine.

Sunday, Edna, Butch, and the above named Dachshund, & Doberman, would join the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Sunrunner Veni Vidi Vici, the King Charels & Ruby English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Traveler’s Pierce Arrow, in Bob Hutton’s final.

Taking home the top prizes were the Doberman, FiFi, and the Wire, Butch.  Butch got our attention back in July when he pulled off the hat trick, three consecutive BIS, in Southaven MS.  Sunday’s win was his fourth BIS in 19 final appearances this year.

We return to Wilmot WI to tell you about Sunday’s Kenosha Kennel Club show.  You may remember we reported Saturday’s results earlier.  Janet Lobb closed the set with the Weimaraner, GCH CH Bowbent Carousels Perfect World, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kelly Mt. Diamonds Are Forever, the Boxer, GCH CH Sapphire’s Violet Sky In Vegas Of Streamline, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Homebrewed Page Three Girl, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Keeshond, GCH CH Dreamwoods Rock The Boat, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Street Of Dreams RA CD BN.

Sunday Joan Schurr Kefeli preferred Capi and the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato’s Code Red, to the above named GWP, the Whippet, Joan Schurr Kefeli, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Connacht A Ha’ Penny Will Do, the Papillon, GCH CH Fenice Le Boudereaux, and the previously seen Shar-Pei.  Capi is the nation’s Number One Herding Dog and Number 13 Dog All Breeds with 21 BIS this year.

ALTOONA AREA KENNEL ASSOCIATION

The Altoona Area Kennel Association was in Ebensburg PA for their two shows this past weekend.  Saturday’s final fell to Guy Jeavons who had his pick of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, CH Fireside’s Rio Grande JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline's Oxford Victim Of Love, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Kontoki's Isaiah Little Prayer For You, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Shamrock White Diamonds, the Yorkshire Terrier, CH Bon Amis Amore, the Standard Poodle, By Request Bon Mot, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Tir Na N ‘Og The Legend Of Banzai Maguire.  

The two that caught his eye were the WPG, his Reserve, and the Collie, Banzai, his Best In Show.  It’s the first BIS this year for Banzai in four final appearances.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Erin Blaisure.

Sunday Ron Spritzer would select his winners from the same seven.  His One/Two were his BIS, the WPG, and his RBIS, the Siberian, Isaiah.  Although the six year old WPG has been around for some time, we have not been able to find you a photo.  Now that he has his first BIS of the year, we hope someone will send in one to commemorate the occasion.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Elaine L Hunsicker, owner John Scheck, and handler Coleen McGee.

REDWOOD EMPIRE KC

West Coast fanciers had their choice of two venues for a show this weekend.  One was in the Northern California town of Petaluma where the Redwood Empire Kennel Club offered two shows.  On Saturday, the seven who made it through to see BIS judge Francine Schwartz were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Great Expectations, the Whippet, GCH CH Fanfare’s Cordova At Runners, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Steinhaus Maxim Courage RN, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond déjà vu, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Penndragon Owain, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon.  

Her RBIS was the Standard Schnauzer, Max, and her BIS was our DOG2WATCH, the Standard Poodle, Owen.  We are pleased to see Owen with his fifth BIS this year.

On Sunday, Only Owen would be back for a second round.  Joining him in Melinda Lyon’s final were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Kilbane Enchanted Forest, GCH CH Harehill’s Ace in the Hole, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Framboise Something Ventured Something Gained, the Irish Terrier, CH Rockledge McCallen Of Heath, the Japanese Chin, Victory’s Spencer, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Hatch Tillie de la Salsa.

It was the Irish Terrier, McCallen, with the Reserve, and the Bouvier, Hatch, with the Best In Show.  Hatch and handler Larry Fenner head into the last quarter of the season with six BIS, three in the last 15 days.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY KC

GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm  

The biggest numbers this weekend were in North Branch NJ where the venerable Westchester County Kennel Club show closed the set yesterday with Adrian Landarte’s final.  The seven hoping to take home the 1330 points available were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Afghan Hound, CH Exlysta  Reflects The Sky, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Candied Ham of Pebbles’Run, the Australian Terrier, CH Shastakin Flying Dual Buster, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde Take One.

Taking home the RBIS was the Affenpinscher, Joey, and taking home the BIS, and all those points, was the country’s Number Two Dog, the GWP, Oakley.  Was it enough to take back the Number One Ranking?.  We will be the first to tell you.

As we said earlier, the country’s Number Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Chamgne Supernova, started his week in Biloxi MS, picking up both the BIS at the Singing River Kennel Club of Mississippi’s two shows on Thursday & Friday.   Peyton and handler Robin Novack continued their defense of their ranking in Greeley CO at Saturday’s Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club show.

Also looking for Betty-Ann Stenmark’s favor were the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Mowgli, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s X Mark the Spot, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Cashnross First Griff Tina Fey, the Keeshond, GCH CH Jen’ndis Lyrical Dream for Jo-Lyn, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow of Cornus.   Peyton would grab his third consecutive Best In Show while the country’s Number Four Dog, the Wire, Sky, got the Reserve.

Peyton, Sky, the Afghan, Mowgli, & the Griff, Tina Fey, would all try again on Sunday with Larry Terricone.  Joining the party were the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Keeshond, GCH CH Windrift’s Money Maker, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lonestar’s Margarita Rose.

The two standing in the center of the ring at the end of the day were the RBIS, the Keeshond, Bill-E, and the BIS, the Afghan, Mowgli.  Mowgli continues to be one of the most consistent dogs out there with ten all breed Bests in just 23 final appearance, in limited showing.  For all of you who think a breeder/owner/handler can’t win, talk to Jay Hafford.

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Biloxi MS where two of our Top Five Dogs All Breeds had a very good week.  Both the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supenova, and the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, each picked up BACK2BACK BIS.

First up was the Springer, Peyton, who was Lee Canalizo’s Best In Show at Thursday’s Singing River Kennel Club of Mississippi’s day one show, while the MinPin Classie, was her Reserve.  Rounding out Thursday’s final were the Whippet, GCH CH Bo-Bett’s Speed Demon, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Mint Condition, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.  

Friday, Peyton and Classie finished one/two in Carlos Navarro’s final at the SRKCM’s day two show.  Challenging the two were the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Boxer, GCH CH Ho-Pa’s Grand Slam, above named Skye, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Kimik’s Sir Gawain, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker’s Rumpus Bumpus.  Friday evening Peyton and handler Robin Novak would leave Biloxi with their 36th big rosette of the year and head for Greeley CO.  More on that later.

Classie would show up at Saturday’s final for the Mobile Kennel Club with the Parti-colored Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Conquest’s This Is It, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Locknaw Something Good, the above mentioned Doberman, the previously seen Skye, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Chrystals Totally Chromed Out, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Karizma’s Ike of Edale.  Ann Schwartz’ RBIS to Classie was the Skye, Barrie. 

GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern

Gloria Geringer would close the set Sunday with for the MKC’s second show, Choosing Classie as her Best and the German Shepherd,  GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern, as her Reserve over the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Say Cheese, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH CWSG CCH Sidearm Jungle King Mufasa, the Great Dane, DRD’s The Revelation, the now familiar Skye, and Saturday’s Standard Poodle.  

Classie would head home with her 22nd BIS of the year and a record 47 career BIS, breaking a 36 year old record for MinPin  bitches held by CH Jay-Mac’s Impossible Dream, winner of the Toy Group at the 1975 Westminster Kennel Club show.  Congratulations to Classie’s breeder Carole Ann Mohr-Rio owner Leah Monte, and owner/handler Armando Angelbello.
