INIDAN HEAD KENNEL CLUB

The Whippet, GCH CH Kamada’s New York Minute, and breeder/owner/handler Debbie Davenport had a memorable weekend in Eau Claire WI May 9th and 10th, taking back2back BIS at the Indian Head Kennel Club’s two shows.

Joining Mona & Debbie in judge Carl Gene Liepmann’s final on Saturday were the RBIS, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s The Vanilla Sky, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Nightline Viking A Tanglewood, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier , GCH CH O’Lorcan’s Mystery Writer, the Pug, GCH CH OG’s Perfect Puck, the Bulldog, GCH CH Evergreen's Hey! Look Me Over, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH XTC’s He. Could. Go. All. The. Way!.

Sunday judge Dana Cline would name Mona his BIS after considering the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the RBIS, the above named Giant, the Miniature Schnauzer, Tomar’s Back To The Future, the Brussels Griffon, CH White Oak’s True Grit, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Anana's Look Into The Future, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom. 

The wins were the first BIS of the year for Mona. Congratulations to Debbie, breeder/owner Kathleen Davenport, and owner Devon Kipp.

SCOTT COUNTRY KENNEL CLUB

Rock Island IL, across the Mississippi River from Davenport IA, is not the easiest place to get to, but the Scott County Kennel Club did draw some top names for their two shows on May 9th & 10th. Judge Charles Trotter had the Saturday final and his choice of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, GCH CH Bohem Swan Song SC, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Highlander's Rumour Has It, the Norwich Terrier, CH Taliesin Twice As Nice, the Pug, GCH CH Careva's Boodelicious, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Moonshadow Ormalu, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv's Sultry Sensation.

Finishing one/two were the Springer, Randy, and the Pug, Buddha. Randy is the Number Three Sporting Dog and the Number Nine Dog All Breeds with seven BIS and 28 Sporting Groups.

Judge Richard Miller would see the Field Spaniel, CH Killara's Brighter Than the Sun TD, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Silver Sleuth Vikrest, the same Siberian & Norwich, the Papillon, GCH CH Wingssong Singular Sensation, the Boston Terrier, CH Motif's John Bernard Books, and the aforementioned OES.

 It was the Papillon, Uno, taking home the big rosette and the Field Spaniel, Maiko, collecting the reserve ribbon. It was te first BIS of the year for Uno. Congratulations to breeders/owners Pat & Chris Jones.

The Ravenna Kennel Club drew Top ranked dogs from all over the US for their two shows in Tallmadge OH on May 9th and 10th. The seven that BIS judge Peggy Lloyd saw on Saturday were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Bayaway Jersey's Due Process of Law, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto's Speak Of The Devil, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Hampton Court Broxden What In Carnation, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing's Po-Ba-Ri At Arundina, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

Her Best was the Smooth Fox, Debbie, and her Reserve, the Peke, The General. It was the fifth BIS in ten final outings this year for the daughter of 2010’s Number One Dog All Breeds. Four of those BIS have come in the last month. Debbie is currently the country’s Number One Smooth Fox Terrier and Number Two Terrier. All in all, we think it is time we admit that Debbie is a Dog2Watch.

Debbie would be back in the final ring on Sunday along with the above named Boxer, Tibbie, and GSD. Joining them were the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Remedi’s Churchill Downs, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the aforementioned Boxer, and the Toy Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Cottage Lakes Our Lady Of Fatima.

Judge Judy Harrington named the GSD, Rumor, BIS and the Sussex, Rufus. It was the 28th BIS in 59 final appearances this year for the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds.

FOUR DAYS IN GEORGIA

We don’t get to report a Best In Show by a Cairn Terrier very often, so we are delighted to tell you that GCH CH Angus Glen-Ayr’s Stevie Wonder was judge Carolyn Herbel’s BIS at the Columbus Kennel Club show on May 7th in Perry GA.

Joining Stevie in the final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Giaconda, the Black Russian Terrier, GCH CH Russian Bear’s Not Just Another Rock Starr, the RBIS, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Standard Poodle, Kaylen’s Strike a Pose, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Signature’s Abby Scuito.

It was the first for Stevie and the first BIS by Cairn this year.   Congratulations to breeders Drew & Ann Angus, owner Roberta Perry, and handler Armando Morales.  We hope to have a photo for you soon.

Stevie would return to the final ring at Friday’s Southeast Alabama Kennel Club show along with the above named Springer and Shih Tzu.  Joining them in judge Dr Steve Keating were the Saluki, GCH CH Baha Persian Of Interest CD RN SC OA MXJ NF, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Paragon's Absolutely Entertaining O'Kristari, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Erin N Advocate's Special Agent BN RN CGC, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sindarin’s Where The Magic Begins.

Best went to the multi-titled Saluki, Pepe, and Reserve went to the Tervuren, Dizney.  It was the first BIS of the year for Pepe and owner/handler Caroline Coile.  Congratulations to Caroline and breeders Margaret Ferrando & Patsy Hoy.

The Macon Kennel Club took over on Saturday and put judge James Frederiksen in the final ring with the returning Springer, Greyhound, Westie, & Tervuren, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Big Beach’s Surfin Safari, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), and the Boston Terrier, GCH CH QB’s The Game Changer.

His BIS was the smallest among them, the Chihuahua, Sonnito, and his RBIS was the Greyhound, Gia.  Sonnito is the Number Toy Dog with two BIS and 27 Toy Groups.

Col Joe Purkhiser closed it out at Sunday’s MKC encore.  The seven dogs he considered were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the aforementioned Greyhound & Black Russian Terrier, the West Highland White Terrier, White Oaks Invincible Snowplow, the returning Shih Tzu, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Blitzin Georgette Tres Jolie At DeMartini, and the Tervuren, Dizney.

Going to the head of the line was the Greyhound, Gia, closely followed by the BRT, Ringo.  Gia is the nation’s Number Five Hound with eight BIS and 19 Hound Groups this year.

The Chester Valley Kennel Club and the Lancaster Kennel Club also opted for the split venue weekend, with the CVKC setting up in Ludwigs Corner PA on May 8th & 9th and the LKC hosting on

May 10th in Lancaster PA, an hour’s drive to the west.  Judge Peter Green had the Friday final and his pick of the Pointer, GCH CH Hipoint Here Comes the Sun, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry's Stonewall Jackson, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Windsong Roman Ruler, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Bronwyn He’s A Heartbreaker, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country's Tag I'M It, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Snapshot’s Don’t Spill The Beans CAX3, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

His Best was the Pointer, Allegra, and his Reserve, the Foxhound, Jackson.  It was the second BIS in ten trips to the final ring this year for Allegra and owner/handler Frank DePaulo.

Allegra and the aforementioned Pug, JJ, would be back in the final ring on Saturday.  Joining them were the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Lola, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Angarda Deja Vu Looking At You, the Keeshond, GCH CH Traleigh Tenacity, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH  Solange Body Language.

Going to the head of the line was the Bloodhound, Nathan, followed closely by the Giant, Lola.  Nathan is the country’s Number Two Hound and Number 11 Dog All Breeds with eight BIS and 24 Hound groups this year.

Judge Rita Holloway would close out the set on Sunday with an all new seven, the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH  Shannon’s Celebration At Springrun, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Rhill’s Out Of The Ashes MS, the Cane Corso, GCH CH Italica's Fifty Shades Of Grey CA, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Goodspice Efbe's Know Easy Way Out, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Belle, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Milas The Piano Player.

Taking home the BIS was the Bulldog, Annabelle.  Packing up the RBIS was the Peke, The General.  It was the second BIS in ten final appearances this season for Annabelle and owner/handler Jean Hetherington.

MOTOR THROUGH CONNETICUT

We start our reports for the period of May 7th-11th with one of the traditions we would like to see abandoned in our sport, the split venue weekend. New England fanciers started the week in Salem CT where the St Hubert Kennel Club hosted two shows. Friday’s final was in the hands of judge Edward Lyons Jr. His seven hopefuls were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star of Acadia, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Great Dane, GCH CH Sweet's Firenrain V Saravilla BN RN CGC, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Papillon, GCH CH Medina’s Luck Be A Lady Tonight, the French Bulldog, GCH CH JCRV-Klasse Warrior Raising The Banner, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn.

Tonight Finishing one/two were the Weimaraner, Bella, and the Papillon, Frankie. Bella is the nation’s Number Sporting Dog with four BIS and 15Sporting Groups this year.

Bella would return to the final ring on Saturday along with the above named Skye, Frenchie, & Beardie, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Dikerdach’s Blake, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Mistel’s Can Can, and the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Capitol’s We Aim to Please by Bayard.  Best went to the Beardie, Turner, and Reserve to the Skye, Charlie. It was the third BIS in 17 trips to the final ring this year for Number Eight Herding Dog and handler Cliff Steele.

Everyone would pack up Saturday evening and motor up to Woodstock CT for Sunday’s Windham County Kennel Club show. The seven that stayed all day to see judge Hal Biermann were the aforementioned Dachshund, Doberman, Skye, Papillon, & Beardie, the Weimaraner, GCH CH Trifar's Earth's Shelters Of Moonstone JH, and the Standard Poodle, CH Tiburcio Da Maya. 

Judge Biermann’s BIS was the Skye, Charlie, and his RBIS was the Beardie, Turner. Charlie is the country’s Number One Terrier and Number Three Dog All Breeds with 15 BIS and 40 Terrier Groups this year.

Judge Kitty Steidel had the Saturday final and her choice of the English Setter, GCH CH Esthete Topsails Vjk London BN RN OA OAJ NF, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Aspenrepublik Into The Wind, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH D'Lacie's Baroness Von Purple Rain RN CA CGC, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome’s Home Run For Nirvana, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe's Simply Invincible, and the Polish Landlow Sheepdog, GCH CH Stonebrook’s For Your Eyes Only.

Judge Faye Strauss would name the Scottie, Queenie, BIS and the OES, Crosby, her RBIS. Queenie, daughter of 2009’s Number One Dog All Breeds, CH Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, has four BIS in 11 trips to the final ring. She is AKC’s Number One Scottish Terrie and the Number Two Terrier.

Our Monday Morning Mop Up finds us slogging through the last of the May Day weekend’s reports. From Tres Pinos CA we have the results of the Gavilan Kennel Club’s two shows. Saturday ended with judge Ann Redmer in the final ring with the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Blazen Spellbounds Wonder Woman, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator Lady’s Man de Remis, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Hubbestad Wee Marius, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Genkis Blue Moon, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CHC Wind Spirit Rod's Amazing Grace.

Her BIS was the Keeshond, Cubit, and her RBIS, the Aussie, Grace. Cubit is the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog and the Number 15 Dog All Breeds with four BIS and 23 Group Ones.

Cubit and Grace would be back in the final ring Sunday along with the above named PWD. Joining them were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Brookshire’s Croak N Dagger, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Badgershill Muldoon Of Heather, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Dynasty’s Br Donald Rockfeller, and the Pug, GCH CH Pocket’s Jato Jetliner.

Judge Adrian Woodfork’s Best was the Pug, Jato, and her Reserve, the PWD, Manly. It was the first of the year for Jato. Congratulations to breeders/owners Rosemary Robles & Jane Bale-Woodside, owner Wayne M Woodside, and handler Luke Seidlitz.
