SHELTIE BIS IN JACKSON MI

We start today’s show reports with this from Jackson MI where the Jaxon (sic) Kennel Club opened their two day set. BIS judge Fred Ferris’ lineup included the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Sastya's Eleven Eleven, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Silhouette's Au Fish, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Avatar Cosmac Storm, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Darwyn Bruhil's Flying Circus, the Pekingese, GCH CH Sunn Yenn Uncensored Dachari, the Bulldog, GCH CH Just Lonestar Bright Lights Big City, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.

It was the Sheltie, Brother, taking the BIS and the Bulldog, Bentley, grabbing the runner up spot. It was the sixth BIS of the year for the country’s Number Five Herding Dog.

Here in the South, fanciers are gathered in Monroe LA for four days down on the bayou. The Bayou Kennel Club had the Friday opener and they drew several of the country’s top dogs. Judge Norm Kenney had four of AKC’s Top Ten Dogs All Breeds in his final. His seven were the Number Four Dog, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regime’s Thriller of Elmo, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow ridge Risky Business, the Number Six Dog, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Number Nine Dog, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH R-Lee Sparkle Plenty, and the Number Two Dog, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Best went to the smallest among them, the Pom, Danny. The OES, Swagger, took the Reserve. Danny is the Number One Toy Dog with twelve BIS this season.

MARQUETTE KENNEL CLUB FRIDAY

GCH CH Gamegards I’ll Have Another V Braeside 

The Marquette Kennel Club opened an ambitious three day, four show, stop in their Michigan hometown on Friday. Friday’s final were in the hands of judge Joe Gregory who chose his top two from the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles CGC, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I’ll Have Another V Braeside, the Russell Terrier, CH Baylock Heart Of Fire, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Zens Cirque Du Soleil, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ha-Lee Kiki-Ari Captain Morgan, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Jereco’s Satin Sheets.

Finishing one/two were the Rottweiler, Indy, and the Collie, Satin. It was the seventh BIS this year for nation's Number Five Working Dog and handler Holly Eldred and their third this month.  The MKC will hold two shows today.  We're exhausted just thinking about it.

WHIPPET DAY TWO IN KENTUCKY

The Northern Kentucky Kennel Club had the day two spot in Lexington KY on Friday and they chose Bonnie Linnell Clarke to take the final ring. Joining her there were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don'T Tell, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Vraiment Parfait, the Standard Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Oasis Razzmatazz CA, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Highwood’s Big Shot, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travler Kelise Overdrive.

 Her BIS was the Whippet, Brazen, and her RBIS was the Shih Tzu, Rocket. Brazen is the nation’s Number One Whippet and Number Two Hound with nine top prizes this year.

WPG BEST IN MAINE

GCH CH Fireside Spontaneous Combustion 

While the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds was in New Jersey on Friday picking up. another BIS, his kennelmate was in Union ME doing the same. The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Fireside Spontaneous Combustion, started his week taking an RBIS on Thursday.

 Joining Buster and handler Michelle Scott in judge Nancy Liebes final were the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, CH Joval Sweet Time, the RBIS, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger. 


The win was the first BIS by a WPG since December of 2010 when Buster collect his 11th BIS of the year.  We haven’t seen much of eight year old Buster since his Sporting Group Three win at the 2011 Westminster Kennel Club show. We hope that he stays around for a while so fanciers can get a look at this splendid example of a rare breed. Congratulations to Michelle, breeder/owner Elaine Hunsicker, and Joan Coughlin.

The furry juggernaut that is the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, added another BIS to his record setting resume today. The Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, was judge Paula Nykiel Best In Show today at the Newton Kennel Club show in Augusta NJ.

Also in the final ring were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Afghan Hound, Stillwinds Dragonfly Ecco's Rydin' Solo, judge Nykiel’s RBIS, the Russell Terrier. GCH CH Monamour Jp Energy Of Kiss, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Milas Latin Fever. 

The win brings Matisse’s 2014 record to 92 BIS and 125 Working Groups

GCH CH Highlander's Rumour Has It 

Our first report today comes in from Raleigh NC where the Alamance Kennel Club opened the four day set. Judge Minna-Liisa Koltes chose her top two from the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry's Stonewall Jackson, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Highlander's Rumour Has It, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Hampton Court Broxden In Queso Emergency, the Japanese Chin, CH Chindale's Anything She Wants, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious HamItUp Southern Bell, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey. 

 Taking the BIS was the Siberian. Receiving the RBIS was the Smooth Fox. It was the second of the year for Rumor and handler Frank Murphy.

Our next stop is Lexington KY where the hometown Lexington Kennel Club opened the five day Bluegrass Classic on Thursday. Judge Patricia Laurans had the opening final and her pick of the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don'T Tell, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlakes Pants on Fire, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s The Gladiator, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

Taking the big rosette was the Corgi, Coco, while the Whippet, Brazen, grabbed the reserve ribbon. Coco is the nation’s Number One Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Number Four Herding Dog with seven BIS this year.

RECORD SETTING CHIHUAHUA

The Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), started his week with a record breaking performance on Thursday in Union ME. Sonnito picked up his 19th career BIS at the Central Maine Kennel Club show, setting a new record for the variety.

Joining Sonnito in judge Charlotte Clem McGowan’s final were her RBIS, the Wire Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Firesides Spontaneous Combustion JH, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Michan’s Mick Like A Rolling Stone, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It. 

The record setting performance was made all the more remarkable by the fact that the Mexican import accomplished it in just over six months of competition. Our congratulations to Erika, breeder/owner Romulo Sanchez-Torres, and owners Janet Lange Moses & James Moses.

First in this week with show results is the Kennel Club of Northern New Jersey who opened a five day, two venue stop in New Jersey. Today the seven dogs that made it to judge Ronald Rella’s final were the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Beechcroft Midnight Rose’s Baccara, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Lyonnese Master’s Blend By Kimani, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act by Hallsblu, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Keeshond, GCH CH Shainakees Abundant Asset Is Mercy, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Stuttgart’s Now Don t Refuse Me Of Masrock.

The PWD, Matisse, started his week as he ended the last, with a BIS. The Peke, General Tso, added the RBIS to his already admirable resume. It was the 91st BIS in 124 final appearances tis year for Matisse and handler Michael Scott.

GCH CH Sanbar’s Ride The Winds 

Before we start with today’s results let’s give you a report on Sunday’s Sammiash Kennel Club show in Redmond WA. Judge Carol Spritzer chose her top two form the Brittany, GCH CH Sanbar’s Ride The Winds, the Borzoi, GCH CH Zabava Ostrov Casablanca, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Tiburon Diamante Noir, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Whitebriar Jaw Dropper, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian JP Rose Queen, the Dalmatian, CH Merry Go Round Express, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Allegro Southern Charm.

 Exhibitors at the Mensona Kennel Club’s two shows in Santa Rosa CA this past weekend were just 40 miles from the epicenter of Sunday’s big earthquake. However, it takes more than a little shaking to keep fanciers from their favorite pursuit. The seven dogs that made it to judge James Reynolds final on Saturday were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade’s Pay It Forward, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Regency’s Play For Keeps, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana’s Sh-Boom, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure, and the Puli, GCH CH Mt Hood’s Leapin Linni Of Tordor.

Finishing one/two were the Field Spaniel, Gideon, and the Puli, Linni. Gideon is the country’s Number Three Sporting Dog with nine BIS in 2014.

Sunday judge John Burgess would see the same seven save two the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M’s Fear The Beard, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Wedgewood’s Abracadabra. Collecting the BIS was the Schnauzer, Keeper. Snagging the RBIS was the Keeshond, Cubit.

It was the second of the year for Keeper and handler Bill McFadden.  Both BIS have come in the last five weeks.

ST CROIX VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Joval Sweet Time 

St Elmo MN was the site of this past weekend’s St Croix Valley Kennel Club shows and two dogs from the East Coast made the most of the opportunity. On Saturday judge Patti Widick Neale chose the Connecticut based Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, as her BIS. She also liked the Afghan Hound from North Carolina, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, whom she named her RBIS. Rounding out her seven were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don'T Tell, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegard I’ll Have Another at Braeside, the Pug, GCH CH Moonstruck’s In The Pocket!, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s It’s Miller Time, and the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Navrock Pardon My French.

It was the first BIS for the Airedale bitch, Splenda. Congratulations to breeders/owners Dr Valeria Rickard & John Rickard and handler Adam Bernardin. 

GCH CH Katon’s Eye Of The Tiger V Morgenwald 

 Sunday judge Adrian Woodfork would name the returning Afghan, Matrix, his Best and the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Katon’s Eye Of The Tiger V Morgenwald, his Reserve winner. Also asking for consideration were the above named English Setter, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, GCH CH Bryr Rose Phoenix Rising, the previously seen Pug, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Sundance Ringside Rumor. Matrix is the nation’s Number Four Hound with BIS to his credit this year.

GCH CH Jato Jet Liner 

The Pug, GCH CH Jato Jet Liner, visited the final ring eight times during the first seven months of the year, but was not able to persuade any judge to give him the big rosette. Far from being discouraged Jato proved the power of persistence collecting three BIS this month.

The last two BIS were done back2back at the Elgin Kennel Club’s two shows in their Illinois hometown this past weekend. On Saturday judge John Wade also the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Daybreak’s Bewitching Blossom, the RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kamterra’s Legato, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH Kings Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Boston Terrier, CH Sabes Simply Invincible, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

The Western Reserve Kennel Club closed the three day set in Chagrin Falls OH with judge Anita Duggan in the final ring.  Her lineup included the English Setter, CH Reidwood Just My Style, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, the Komondor, GCH CH Nagyalma Yes I Can, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Blenheim English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

Her BIS was the Puli and her RBIS was the Setter.  It was the seventh BIS of the year for the nation’s Number Two Herding Dog.

We had a number of multiple BIS performances this past week. In Middleburg PA the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, posted back2back BIS, taking both the big rosettes offered by the Mid Susquehanna Valley Kennel Club. Sunday’s final was called by judge Joan Goldstein who also considered the Brittany, CH Triumphant’s As Good As It Gets JH, her RBIS, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet’s Annie El Encanto, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Rivendell’s Tinker Toy, the Havanese, GCH CH Surluv Lickin Larrgo De Grace, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha’Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.

 Armani was the first Xolo to win a BIS in the US. This year he has seven.
