DAY ONE IN ATLANTA GA

Any show in Atlanta GA is fiercely competitive. Friday’s Douglasville Kennel Club Of Georgia show was especially so. The Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, had a rare defeat in judge Jim Briley’s Working Group, placing third behind the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Vraiment Parfait, and the Boxer, GCH CH Mephistos Speak Of The Devil. 

GCH CH Cordmaker’s Topsy Turvey 

The Doberman, Zsa Zsa, would advance to judge Edd Bivin where she was joined by the English setter, GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin's Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s The Gladiator, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker’s Topsy Turvey. 

 Judge Bivin’s BIS was the Skye, Charlie, and his RBIS was the Puli, Charlotte. Charlie is the country’s Number One Terrier and Number Five Dog All breeds with 23 BIS this year.

CORGI BEST IN NEW JERSEY

GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River 

Judge Betsy Horn-Humer was in Buena NJ on Friday to call the final for the Gloucester County Kennel Club. The seven dogs she considered were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Shade Mountains Cane Bello Moon Dancer JH, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Icecream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic's Mojo, the Kerry blue terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH South Fork’s Sweet Harmony, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River.

The two she chose were the Corgi, Rebecca, and the PBGV, Scoop. It was Rebecca’s second BIS this year.

DAY ONE IN PLEASANTON CA

One of the premier weekends in our sport is in Pleasanton CA in October just east of San Francisco. The Skyline Dog Fanciers of San Mateo County opened the all-breed festivities today after a plethora of hotly contested breed specialties.

Judge Alberto Berrios had the Friday final and his pick of the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Vjk-Myst Garbonita's California Journey, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under the Influence, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Vinn October It Had 2VV You, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo's Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. 

Best was the OES, Swagger, and Reserve, the Pug, JJ. Swagger is the nation’s Number Two Dog All Breeds with 73 BIS this year.

DAY ONE IN CUMBERLAND MD

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret 

The Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, took the BIS today at the Laurel Highlands Kennel Association show in Cumberland MD. 

GCH CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers 

Judge Lisa Warren chose Trader out of seven that included the Pointer, GCH CH Hipoint Here Comes The Sun, her RBIS, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers, the Welsh Terrier, CH Darwyn Here For A Good Time, the Pomeranian, CH Rag Doll’s Dress Blues, the Schipperke, CH Aned’s Blaze, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Shadomoons The Competitive Edge RN CA. 

Trader is the Number One Akita and the Number Two Working Dog with 15 BIS in 2014.

ALBANY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love 

We have an unbelievable eight shows today, on a Friday, on a non-holiday weekend. First in with results is the Albany Kennel Club who opened the three day set in West Springfield MA. 

The seven dogs who made it to judge Robin Stansell’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebblesrun Play It Again Ham, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Havanese, GCH CH Yup’s Life Is A Mystery, the Dalmatian, CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn.

 Stepping out front was the Scottie, Knopa. Sharing the spotlight was the Beagle, Miss P. The win, Knopa’s seventh BIS of the year, will put her right on the heels of the Number Three Terrier.

DAY ONE IN BELTON TX

GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome 

The Stephenville Kennel Club of Texas kicked off the four day stop in Belton TX on Thursday with judge Gale Young taking the day one final. The seven dogs she considered were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Bubble Gum V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Dancy’s Rough Rider, the Pug, GCH CH Bookmark's Uncommonly Good, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just a Little Crush.

The two she chose were Her BIS, the Brittany, Beckett, and her RBIS, the Norwich, Ted. Beckett is AKC’s Number One Sporting Dog and Number Four Dog All Breeds with 20 BIS this season.

DAY ONE IN SPRINGFIELD IL

The nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, continued his assault on the record books with a Best In Show at Thursday’s Illinois Capitol Kennel Club show in Springfield IL.

Challenging Matisse for the win were judge Chris Walkowicz’ RBIS, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Ansa Mo Caoimhin Modigliani CGC, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Toy Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Cottage Lakes Our Lady Of Fatima, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major Leagues Mighty Joe At Winsome, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. Matisse’s 2014 resume now stands at 114 BIS.

DANDIE BIS IN IOWA

We don’t get to report a BIS by a Dandie Dinmont Terrier often. So we are delighted to tell you that the Dandie, GCH CH King's Mtn Angelina Ballerina, was judge Luc Boileau’s Best In Show at Sunday’s Mason City Kennel Club show in that Iowa town.

Challenging Angie for judge Boileau’s attention were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Back By Popular Demand, the Saluki, GCH CH Aurora’s The Song And Dance Man, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'Ll Have Another V Braeside, the Papillon, GCH CH Mystery’s Question Mark, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ha-Lee Kiki-Ari Captain Morgan, and the RBIS, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Sundance Ringside Rumor. 

It was the fifth BIS of the year for the only Dandie Dinmont Terrier to win a BIS this year. Congratulations to breeders Sandra Wolfskill, Donna Francis, Sandra Pretari & Betty-Anne Stenmark, owner Donna Chambers-Raw, and handler Carlos Puig.

SUNDAY IN URBANA OH

GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls 

When we last visited Urbana OH we told you the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don'T Tell, was judge James Brown’s BIS at Saturday’s Mad River Valley Kennel Club show in Urbana OH. 

GCH CH Rivergrove’s Chateau De Castelnau 

Teller would be back on Sunday to plead his case with BIS judge James Ham. Joining him in the final ring were the Whippet, GCH CH Ableaim Question Me NA NAJ CGC, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergrove’s Chateau De Castelnau, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Fyrewyre Fit To Be Tied, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want'A Talk About Me, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear. 

Going to the head of the line was the Shar-Pei, Tinsel, followed by the Great Pyrenees, Castle. Tinsel is the country’s Number One Chinese Shar-Pei and Number Four Non-Sporting Dog with five BIS this year.

SOONER STATE KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Ridgmar’s Just Joking Around 

Enid OK was the site of this past weekend’s Sooner State Kennel Club’s two shows. The West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Ridgmar’s Just Joking Around, was judge Peggy Haas’ Best In Show on Saturday. Judge Haas also like the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite’s Made of The Best Stuff on Earth, whom she named her Reserve.

Rounding out her seven were the Pointer, GCH CH Penpoint In Dress Blues, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Drakyi Lion Of Judah, the Pug, GCH CH Kngz Barney Rubble At PugapoohS, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Judo's Millions Of Happy Memories, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey's Moon River. 

It was the first BIS for Joker and breeder/owner/handler Darlene Cox Davis, who also scored Best Owner/Handler In Show with Joker. Congratulations!

Sunday Joker and Darlene would be joined in judge William Russell’s final by the aforementioned Pointer, Saluki, TM, Corgi, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon’s Sugar Dumplin, and the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH R-Lee Sparkle Plenty. 

Going to the head of the line was the Pointer, Arthur, followed by the Saluki, Snapple. It was the second BIS in four final appearances this year for Arthur and owner/handler Sierra Ward. Congratulations to Sierra breeder/owner Lee Ann Stagg, co-breeder Marsh Smith, and owner Jake Medlin.

Our next report comes in from Canton TX Where the Tyler Texas Kennel Club was set up this past weekend. Saturday’s final was in the hands of judge Larry Sinclair who chose his top two from the Irish Setter, GCH CH Courtwood Whirly Girl, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Honeypot’s Poetry In Motion, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast With Gusto, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Dancy’s Rough Rider, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Zephyr Monogram Maybe Marilyn, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Obvious Sonic Boom. 

GCH CH Derby’s Toast With Gusto 

He chose two dogs from the kennel of handler Scott Sommer, the Bichon, Bingo, and the Greater Swiss, Gus. It was the fourth BIS of the year for the Bingo and Scott.

Sunday judge Judith Daniels would see the same Irish Setter, the Boxer, GCH CH Archangels Ring Keeper Of Vincenza, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Thunderwood’s First Robin Of Spring, the Maltese, GCH CH Scruffys-Validian Busy Buzzing Around, the Bichon, Bingo, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush. She would place the two white dogs one/two, the Maltese, Buzz, and Bingo, the Bichon. It was the first for Buzz. Congratulations to breeder/owner Cynthia Landry, owner/handler Tara Martin-Rowell.and owner Peter Rogers.

We first took note of the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe, back in August when he scored an RBIS over the Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, at the Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club of Georgia show in Atlanta.

GCH CH Teagan’s Purple Rain

This weekend Pilot took back2back BIS at the two shows hosted by the Tri-Star Kennel Club of Williamson County, Tennessee in Nashville. Sunday judge JoAnne Schullier chose Pilot out of a seven that included the Brittany, GCH CH Triumphant’s As Good As It Gets JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Bo-Bett Appraxin Angel, the Boxer, GCH CH Rummer Run’s Black Magic, the RBIS, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Teagan’s Purple Rain, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

These were the first two BIS for Pilot and handler and Chow maven Michael Brantley.  We think that Pilot is a Dog2Watch.

The Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, was judge Ruth Zimmerman’s BIS at Sunday’s Hanover Kennel Club show in Wilmington NC.

Challenging Trader for judge Zimmerman’s favor were the RBIS, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Sylon Bruce Of Ringmaster, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Luminary Black Velvet Bejeweled With Pearls, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Limehouse Hellcat OHare CD BN PCD RE CA CGCA.

Trader is the country’s Number Two Working Dog and Number 15 Dog All breeds with 14 BIS this season.

The National Capital Kennel Club had the Sunday closer in West Friendship MD and judge Pat Hastings had the final final.  The seven dogs that stayed to the end to see her were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Dublin Diva, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Dynasty's Husky Lucky Strike, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH C and J Silver Charm Of Chrysalis.

Her Best In Show was the Xolo, Armani, and her Reserve, the Welsh Terrier, Jennie.  Armani is the Number Five Non-Sporting Dog with eight BIS this year and the only Xoloitzcuintli to win a BIS in the last three years.

Arcadia FL was the site of this weekend’s Greater Naples Dog Club shows. Judge Eric Ringle had the day one final and his pick of the Vizsla, GCH CH Solaris Smokin' Hot Habenera, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Mileka’s Belle Starr, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Abbapoola's Mr. Slice Of Life, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog's Major League Homerun at TX Star, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

Finishing one/two were the Pom, Dexter, and the Skye, Charlie. It was the first BIS for Dexter. Congratulations to breeder/owner Tammy Moynihan and owners Katey Thompson-Brown & Dennis Brown.

Sunday judge Charles Olvis would see it the other way round, naming Charlie his Best and Dexter his Reserve, after considering the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Chambray's Ruff Jewel Walter , the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regimes Thriller Of Elmo, the Samoyed, GCH CH White Magic's Seasoned Traveler, the aforementioned French Bulldog, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Wynward’s Remember That. Charlie is AKC’s Number One Terrier and Number Five Dog All Breeds with 23 BIS this season.

RAMAPO KENNEL CLUB

We continue our weekend reports with results from Augusta NJ, the only site that had a Monday show. When we last checked on the New Jersey shows, we told you that judge Chuck Winslow chose the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride, as his Best In Show at Saturday’s Palisades Kennel Club show. The rest of the stop would belong to the Country’s Number One Dog all Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, who would take both of the BIS at the Ramapo Kennel Club’s Sunday and Monday shows.

 On Saturday judge Jacqueline Rayner would choose Matisse out of a lineup that included the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo Of Eagle, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Angarda Deja Vu Looking At You, the RBIS, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. 

Sunday judge Nathaniel Horn would see the same way naming Matisse his BIS and Sonnito his RBIS as the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the aforementioned Dalmatian, Odie, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly, looked on. Matisse is the winningest Working Dog of all time with 208  career BIS, of which 113 have come this year.
