PROVIDENCE COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

New Englanders confined themselves to just one show this weekend, today’s Providence County Kennel Club in Providence RI.  The seven who made it to William deVilleneuve’s final were the English Setter, GCH CH Colthouse's Genuine Draft, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Monkham's Famous Grouse, the Boxer, CH Jacquet’s Laredo Encanto, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Maverston Double Dutch, the Havanese, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm Qbin Who’s On First, the Schipperke, CH DiDebs Le Jonny Be Good, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

As Cairn owners we are always delighted to report a BIS win by one of our own, especially since it is a very rare occurrence.  Today BIS winner, the Cairn, Batt, is the only Cairn Terrier to win a BIS so far this year.  Today’s win was the second big rosette this season for Batt & handler Geoff Dawson, out of 14 final appearances.  That’s Cairn tenacity.

MORE SHOWS, MORE FUN

Early Education, one of Lompoc CA’s many famous murals

The coming week offers a few more options than last with 25 all breed shows in nine different locales.

Our lone New England offering this week is the Providence County Kennel Club’s Saturday show in Providence RI,  However, if you are willing to spring for the gas money, you can take in four all breed shows in Lackawanna PA courtesy of the Bald Eagle Kennel Club Of Williamsport PA & the Lackawanna Kennel Club.

Mid-Atlantic fanciers will be heading to Greenville SC Friday for three shows hosted by the Greenville Kennel Club, the Spartanburg Kennel Club,  & the Hendersonville Kennel Club.  In the Great Lakes region, exhibitors can choose between four shows in Marion OH, also beginning Friday, with the Dan Emmett Kennel Club & the Marion Ohio Kennel Club, or the limited breed Great Lakes All Terrier Association on Friday in Waukesha WI, followed by two with the Waukesha Kennel Club at the same site, followed by two with the  Burlington Wisconsin Kennel Club in Elkhorn WI, 30 miles south.

Expect to drive a ways for the rest of this week’s shows, the Longview Kennel Club’s two in their Texas hometown, the Lompoc Valley Kennel Club’s two in their California hometown, the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club Of Washington’s two in Sequim WA, and, for the really adventurous exhibitor, the Cook Inlet Kennel Club’s three in Palmer AK.

Once again the smaller number of shows is likely to result in some big numbers and head to head matches between top ranked dogs, all in all, another thrilling AKC week of shows.
