GONNA BE A LONG, HOT SUMMER

GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse 

 It was déjà vu all over again at the St Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association show in Tampa FL as the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, and the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, repeated their BIS and RBIS performances from yesterday’s Greater Venice Florida Dog Club show.

BIS judge James Reynolds also considered the Boykin Spaniel, CH Larley's Nothing But the Truth, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regimes Thriller Of Elmo, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Abbapoola's Mr Slice Of Life, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Major League Homerun At TX Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Wonderland's Force Of Nature. It was the third straight BIS for Matisse and his 60th BIS in 78 final attempts this year. That’s an incredible 77 percent win ratio. This is going to be a long, hot summer.

Terry Stacy was in Troy OH to call the Best In Show at today’s Echo Hills Kennel Club of Ohio, the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Dublin Diva, the 15” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen's Holy Knight, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Homestead Zoey Of Treyacres, the Chinese Shar-Pei GCH Shine's Deck The Halls, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

 Meanwhile in Traverse City MI judge Roger Hartinger named the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, his BIS at today’s Grand Traverse Kennel Club show. We suppose judge Hartinger might have name the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Wynsom s Cowgirls Don’t Cry, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Shoreviews Raise Your Glass, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, his RBIS, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Bulldog, GCH CH Just Lonestar Bright Lights Big City, or the Old English Sheepdog, Aryakas Phoenix, but he didn’t.

 Rocket and breeder/owner/handler Luke Ehricht have made their presence known of late with five BIS and 21 Toy Groups this year. Four of those BIS have come sine Memorial Day.  Now that’s the Dog Days of Summer.

Up in Topsfield MA the Dalmatian, GCH CH Erin's I'm Your Man, was judge Raymond Filburn’s BIS at today’s North Shore Kennel Club show. Joining Colin in the final ring were the Golden Retriever, CH Nautilus Keystone , the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallam’s Jake Of Arolet SC , the Akita, CH Nakodo's Taking Over The Reigns, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Br'Er Fox Philippa Of Hunterston, the Pekingese, GCH CH Hoong Tao’s Walk This Way, the and the RBIS, the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical's My Turn.

We go next to Waynesville NC where the Western Carolina Dog Fanciers Association opened their two day weekend. The seven dogs that BIS judge Robert Vandiver saw were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the American Foxhound , CH Kiarry's Stonewall Jackson, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Avalon Bey's Are The Stars Out Tonight , the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Connacht A Ha' Penny Will Do, the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodside's Megabucks.

The two he chose were the GSD, Megabucks, and the Weimaraner, Bella Blue. It was the tenth BIS in 22 final appearances for Megabucks and handler Lenny Brown.

BLOODHOUND BIS IN WV

GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess 

The Greater Clarksburg West Virginia Kennel Club held their show today in Morgantown WV (that’s the greater part) and asked judge Nancy Liebes to name the Best In Show and Reserve. Her seven hopefuls were the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Trinity’s Tucked Under His Wing, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Mistic's Longfellow Serenade, the Russell Terrier, DBF Stanley Cup, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Chow Chow, GCH CH Are-Jay's Harlem Renaissance, and the Border Collie, CH Shura's Notorius Of Avatar.

The two she liked were the Bloodhound, Nathan, and the Chihuahua, Sonnito. Nathan seems determined to remain the Number Hound with 11 BIS and 34 Hound Groups this year.

We awake to find that all three of our Top Dogs All Breeds earned a Best in Show on Friday. We already told you that the Number One Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, was judge Jay Richardson’s BIS at the Greater Venice Florida Dog Club show in Tampa FL.

The Number Two Dog, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, collected his third straight BIS at the Pocatello Kennel Club show in Blackfoot ID. Joining Swagger in Col Harold Brizee’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek's Limited Edition, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Michan’s Mick Like A Rolling Stone, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltop's GQ Cover Boy, and the RBIS, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame From Afterglow. For those keeping track (and we are) it was Swagger’s 35th BIS in 65 final appearances this year.

Judge Stenmark named the English setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, her RBIS, after considering the American Foxhound, Kiarry’s Foolish Jokester, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kamterra’s Legato, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Sharob’s Commander In Chief, the Papillon, GCH CH Wingssong Singular Sinsation, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Clarion Nightline II.

Her options were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Front Page News, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Shoreviews Raise Your Glass, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Evalill Excalibur Gus, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Schipperke, GCH CH Rivendel's Barefoot Bandit and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridge's Debonair CD RA.

Swagger impressed judge than did the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame from Afterglow, who impressed him more than did the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Whippet, CH Wasatch On Parade, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of A Myth, the Smooth Fox Terrier, G Hilltops GQ Cover Boy, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Accidentally On Porpoise, or the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltops GQ Cover Boy. 

Swagger’s 2014 resume now stands at 34 BIS and 64 Herding Groups. We would be remiss if we did not point out that if you add in points for RBIS wins, Swagger is the Number One Dog All Breeds.

We were reminded that we failed to mention that the nation’s Number One Hound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, collected his tenth Best In Show of the year at Sunday’s Asheville Kennel Club in Fletcher NC.

Joining Nathan and breeder/owner/handler Heather Buehner-Helmer in judge Douglas Johnson’s final were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the Boxer, CH Pure Pride’s Absolute, the RBIS, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Manor House Right As Rain, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Luminary Black Velvet Bejeweled With Pearls, and the GCH CH Ne Orageux’s Flash Point.

SNAKE RIVER CANYON KC OF ID

GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me 

This is the time of the year when the dog show enthusiast can take in a dog show almost every day of the week. No sooner had we logged last weekend’s results that we get the reports on the Snake River Canyon Kennel Club of Idaho’s two shows in Filer ID on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Tuesday’s final was called by judge Patricia Leakey Brenner. The seven dogs attempting to gain her favor were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Blood Hound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Limited Edition, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria’s Kid n Play, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltops GQ Cover Boy, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Kastle’s Go Speed Racer, and Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. The two that succeeded were the Springer and the Bloodhound. The Springer, Seemore, has two BIS in 13 final appearances this year.

At today’s SRCKCI encore Arley Hussin would see the same Springer, Bloodhound, Griff, & OES, the Mastiff, CH Lou The Iron Horse, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Sierra’s Ground Zero, and the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Sierra’s Hallmark. He would name the OES, Swagger, as his Best and Seemore the Springer as his Reserve. Swagger is the US Number One Herding dog and Number Two Dog All Breeds with 36 BIS and 65 Herding Groups this year.

FLAGSTAFF KENNEL CLUB

Where can you get to go to a dog show and also see one of the earth’s most awe inspiring views? At the Flagstaff Kennel Club’s show just a short ride from the Grand Canyon. Saturday’s final featured judge Michael Forte with the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring, the 15” Beagle, CH Copper Rose In A Heartbeat, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Brush Creeks Chances Are Ideal, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH North Pine Born to Boogie, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Bulldog, Imperious Hamitup Lock Stock N Smokin Barrels, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Copperridges Right On Cue. 

Best was the Pom, Danny, Reserve, the Golden, Freedom. Danny is the nation’s Number One Toy Dog and the Number Five Dog All Breeds with eight BIS and 27 Toy Groups in 2014. 


GCH CH Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring 

On Sunday judge Jeffrey Pepper would name Freedom his BIS and Danny his RBIS. Challenging them were the 15” Beagle, GCH CH X’Plorer’s Destiny Done It, the Boxer, Trebors Royal Night For R and G N’Belmar, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Dancys Rough Rider, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Fortunes All Eyes On Me, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Sandcastle Raggedy Ann. The country’s Number One Golden Retriever now has three BIS and 16 Sporting Groups this season.

Judge Betty Leininger had the final at Saturday’s Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club show in Jordan MN and her pick of the Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Trystn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'll Have Another V Braeside, the Airedale Terrier, CH Epochs New York Minute, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Symarun’s Endless Love, the Dalmatian, CH Jujus Busy Being Fabulous, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry.

Finishing one/two were the Rottweiler, Indy, and the Shih Tzu, Ritchie. It was the second BIS in 13 final attempts this year for Indy and owner/handler Holly Eldred. 

GCH CH Trumpets No Questions Asked 

Indy and Ritchie were the only two of Saturday’s finalists to return to the final ring on Sunday. Judge Dr Steve Keating would also consider the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever , Water’s Edge Mr. Majestyk, the Bloodhound, CH Citation’s First and Foremost, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Dunham Lakes Scout Master, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpets No Questions Asked, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Serenity’s Walk In The Park. 

Dr Keating would name Ritchie the Shih Tzu his Best and the Keeshond, Shady, his Reserve. It was the first BIS in seven final appearances this year for Ritchie and breeder/owner/handler Amanda Carlson. Congratulations to Amanda and fellow breeders/owners Carol & Carrie Randle.

FIRST TIMERS AT WHEATON KC

GCH CH KJ’s Hot Date 

The Wheaton Kennel Club was in their hometown with two shows this past weekend. Saturday’s seven finalists were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeens Under The Influence, the Boxer, CH Rummer Runs Black Magic, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants on Fire, the Pug, CH Careva’s Boodelicious, the Keeshond, GCH CH KJ’s Hot Date, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Daybar For Your Eyes Only.

Judge Lorraine Bisso’s BIS was the Keeshond, Potottie, and her RBIS was the Pug, Buddha. It’s the first BIS for Potottie and breeder/owner/handler Kristen Dowd. Congratulations!

 On Sunday judge Gay Dunlap would get a most new seven, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Merriman & Stardom Fire at Hidden Lane JH, the Saluki, Baghdad A Miss Demeanor, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the returning Border Terrier, Cinder, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Chindale’s Anything She Wants, the Dalmatian, CH Centurion Anticipation Charming Dalfield, and the Smooth Collie, CH Calibre’s Gold Digger.

PAPILLON BIS IN LOUISIANA

We return to our weekend reports with the results from Sunday’s Calcasieu Kennel Club show in Lake Charles LA. Judge Houston Clark’s Best In Show was the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of the Pop. Judge Clark also liked the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

Rounding out the final were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch of Malabo APD, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Thunderwood’s First Robin of Spring, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire. 

We are intrigued with the Papillon, Jackson, who has split his time between handler Brian Livingston and owner/handler Gia Garafalo, winning BIS with both. So far this year Jackson has seven BIS and 33 Toy Groups.

The Mount Pleasant Michigan Kennel Club wrapped the four day stop in Midland MI on Sunday with judge James Frederiksen’s final. The seven dogs that stayed to the end to see him were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Kenro’s Time Is Money, the Russell Terrier, Baylock Heart of Fire, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Hope-Fulls Hugs Kist by Northwind, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear.

Taking the BIS was the Beagle, Miss P. The RBIS went to the Russell, Phoenix. Miss P is the nation’s Number Three Hound with seven BIS and 33 Hound Groups.

We continue our weekend reports with one from Puyallup WA. The Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers had the Saturday opener and asked judge James Covey to take the day one final. The seven dogs he saw were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill’s Murder Mystery JH, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Kimani’s Indelible Impression, the Boxer, TJ’s Pulse of Steel, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria’s Kid n Play, the Pomeranian, Zeigen Aurora Australis, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Country Luvz A Rockstar, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Maximum Altitude.

At Sunday’s Tacoma Kennel Club show, BIS judge Dr Ruby Hertz would get an all new seven. They were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Kempner’s Follow Me JH, the Black and Tan Coonhound, GCH CH South chase’s Wilbur Roy, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Chateau Palos Treaty of Goarrhein, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Vonhausharrock Dondiegoredrock, the Maltese, CH Magnifico’s Top Gun, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Belmark Close Encounter. 

Finishing one/two were the Schnauzer, T Man, and the Chow, Pilot. T Man is also a first time BIS winner. Congratulations to breeders/owners EA Mohrenweiser & M L Just and handler Tiffany Skinner.

FIRST TIMES DOMINATE IN OHIO

GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock n Rolla 

Some major oral surgery this AM has delayed our Monday Morning Mop Up, but we are now back at our keyboard. The up side is we can now blame the typos on the pain killers. 

We start in Canton OH where the McKinley Kennel Club held their two shows this weekend. Judge Peggy Dillard Carr chose her top two from the Pointer, GCH CH Oncore MyKyna Run To Daylight, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Stonybrook’s Phinito, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Dynasty’s Husky Luck Strike, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock n Rolla, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Orchard Hill Just Enough Luck, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann’s Showtime, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Yasashiikuma Lest We Forget. 

They were the Pointer, Zoom, and the Wire Fox, Rocky. It was the first for the four year old dog. Congratulations to breeders/owner Peggy Lee Davis & Dr. Patricia Haines MD, co-breeder Amy Walker & Rachael Murphy, Owner Ed Dzuik. 

GCH CH Litilann’s Showtime 

On Sunday judge Jane Forsyth considered the English Setter, GCH CH Linwood Resolute’s New Beginning RN CGC, the Basenji, GCH CH Meisterhaus Happy Hour At Signet, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles Run Cot’n Pic n Cotton Gin, the Wire Fox, Rocky, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, the returning Standard Poodle, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Avatar Bayshore Blew By Ewe NA NAJ. 

Taking the BIS was the Poodle, Landon, while the RBIS went to the Wire Fox, Rocky. It was the first BIS for the white Poodle dog, son of the 2014 AKC/Eukanuba National Champion. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Ann E Rairigh.

GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor 

The Boca Raton Kennel Club held their two shows this weekend in West Palm Beach FL. Saturday’s finalists were the Golden Retriever, CH Bogy of Taiwan HK, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar Masterpiece, the Boxer, GCH CH Vixajo’s Golden Ticket, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Edbrios Russian Roulette, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Erin N Advocat’ s Special Agent BN RN CGC, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

Judge William Usherwood named the Pug, Rufus, his BIS and the Corgi, GiGi, his RBIS. Rufus is the Number Six Toy Dog with five BIS and 23 Toy Groups. 

On Sunday judge Linda Krukar would see Rufus, Gigi, the Labrador Retriever, CH Chambrays Ruff Jewel Walter, the same Whippet & Boxer, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Edison’s I’m Just Getting Warmed Up, and the French Bulldog, CH Solo-Funs Awesome Blossom. 

The two she liked were the Frenchie and the Russell. It was the first BIS for the 16 month old bitch. Congratulations to breeder/owner Elsie L Copeland, co-breeder Denice Ray, and owner Dale Mihalko.
