DEVON DOG SHOW ASSOCIATION

GCH CH McMagic Candied Ham at Pebbles’Run

We are back in the hotel room with our computer after a fruitless search for a rain coat for tomorrow’s Montgomery County Kennel Club show.  It’s been years since we got wet at a dog show.  We are skeptical that nostalgia will be enough to keep us warm tomorrow.

GCH CH Lomondview Clementina

Today’s Devon Dog Show Association show was the largest prize of the weekend and it was hotly contested.  Patti Widick Neale considered the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic Candied Ham at Pebbles’Run, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari. The French Bulldog, GCH CH LeBull’s New Hope Wooly Bully, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Jesstar Nirvana.

The dog with the big pay day was the Sammie, Candie.  Getting the Reserve Best In Show and the big, big Terrier Group points was the Scottie, Phoebe.  Candie is the nation’s Number One Samoyed with five BIS this year.

LINCOLN NE DAYS 1 & 2

GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer

While the Number One Dog all Breeds, the German Wirehaired Pointer, has been in Pennsylvania chasing the big points, the Number Two Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, was in Lincoln NE for the Platte Valley Kennel Club of Fremont, Nebraska two shows.

On Thursday BIS judge had her choice of the Springer, Peyton, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Parson Russell Terrier, GCH CH Posey Canyon No Brainer!, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH  Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Fire When Ready HOF, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Wyndlair Cherokee Vindication.

Peyton collected the RBIS while the Boxer, Danny added to his string of BIS.  Danny and breeder/owner/handler Kimberlie Steel-Gamero have 21 BIS this year, including two just last weekend

Yesterday  Danny, Peyton, the Cavalier, Teddy, the Schipperke, TJ, & the Collie, Vinnie, would all make it back to the final ring where they were joined by the Border Terrier, GCH CH Otley Gen J Logan.  Judge Dana Cline would hand Peyton his 44th BIS of the year.  Our Top Two Dogs remain incredibly close to one another.  We will wait until Wednesday to tell you how close.

SAINTLY BIS AT HATBORO

GCH CH Jamelle’s Aristocrat V Elba RN

The day two show of the Hatboro Dog Club ended a little later than yesterday’s day one show, but it was well worth waiting for.  Two of the day one finalists were not even entered today, but there were plenty of worthy dogs to replace them.

Kathleen Steen’s seven finalists were the German Wirehaired Pointer, Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the St Bernard, GCH CH Jamelle’s Aristocrat V Elba RN, the Russell Terrier, CH Goldsands Columbus, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH We-Syng Royal Etiquette, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.

Judge Steen decided she would do her Reserve award first because she did not want the BIS to seem “anticlimactic”.  Reserve went to the GSD, Capi, and the BIS was anything, but anticlimactic, as her surprise BIS was the Saint, Aristocrat.  The massively impressive dog dressed in a splashy, broken pattern coat, had put on a dignified, but spirited performance winning the approval of the gallery and the judge.  Congratulations to breeders Michelle & Jack Mulligan, owners Edward & Linda Baker and handler Melody “Snooki” Salmi

HATBORO DOG CLUB DAY ONE

GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky

We’re back at our computer after leaving today’s Hatboro Dog Club show.  One dog whose bark was worse than his bite was the local weatherman who threatened us with rain, but in the end all he could manage were a few sprinkles and some sticky humidity.  The dogs certainly didn’t notice.

While we come to this annual pilgrimage primarily for the Terriers, we were able to see several of the BIS winning dogs we write about that we had not yet seen.  They were joined by three of the Top Five Dogs All Breeds, the Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Number Four Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, & the Number Five Dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari.

The GWP, Oakley, & the Wire Fox, Sky, would make it to Neville Hodgkins’ final, but the Affenpinscher, Joey, failed to make it out of Kerry Lee’s Toy Group, while the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla’s Small Kraft Re-Lit, represented the little guys in the BIS ring.  Rounding out the seven were the Saluki, GCH CH Quanmarra’s Thonolan, the Akita, GCH CH Sondaisa's Tough Act to Follow Stardust, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Fantastico da Maya, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

In the end Hatboro is a warm up for the big Terrier only Montgomery County Kennel Club show, so we can’t be too surprised that the Wire, Sky, scampered away with the top prize, while the GWP, Oakley, took the Reserve.  If you been watching, you’ve noticed that Sky has been methodically collecting big BIS and gaining on the Top Three. Today’s win, Sky’s 26th this year, follows last weekend’s threepeat.  All Four wins were in the 1500 point range, i.e. totaling about 6000 points.  Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel have perfectly positioned themselves for a late in the year run at the rankings leaders.  Get yourself a seat at the finish line this year, folks.

HEART OF THE PLAINS KC 2

GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence

Jan Paulk had the final final in Lubbock TX where the energetic Heart of the Plains Kennel Club gave us three shows this weekend.  Her Sunday survivors were the Brittany, GCH CH  Dual Lane's Cam JH, the Basenji, CH  Ahmahr Nahr's Lost Angel Gabriel, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Scottish Terrier, CH Kingsview Just Ebony, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Brackley My Amazing Warrior, the Keeshond, Ruttkay Chance, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH  Travelers Pierce Arrow.

Packing up the RBIS was the MinPin while the Kuvasz, Tanner, walked away with the BIS.  Tanner, the Number Seven Dog All Breeds, has been in the Top Ten Dog All Breeds since the first weekend of the year and now has 19 BIS this year, four in the month of September alone.  Tanner and handler Diana Wilson know how to turn up the volume at the right time.
