RALEIGH NC DAY FOUR

CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook  

The competition remains fierce on the Tarheel Circuit in Raleigh NC.  Today’s final line up for the hometown Raleigh Kennel featured a English Springer Spaniel from the 12 & Under 18 Months, Telltale American Pride, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, the Pug, GCH CH Riversong’s Doc Holiday, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song at Morningstar.  

Judge Thomas H Bradley III chose the Skye as his BIS.  We have been expecting the seven year old Finnish import to pick up a big rosette for a while.  This was his 17th final appearance so far this year.  Congratulations to breeder Kirsi Sainio, owner Victor Malzoni Jr, and handler Larry Cornelius.

VALLEJO CA DAY TWO

Dr Robert Smith was in the City by the Bay today, no, not San Francisco, but Vallejo CA, for the day two final of the San Mateo Kennel Club.  The seven he saw were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx In Collaboration with Traddles, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Great Dane, GCH CH Bayside Just Another Day In Paradise, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Friendshipo Hills Stars and Stripes, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Nisyros Al Pachino, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Victoire Gerie No Lemon Gemstone, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Hearthside Shopping Spree.  

His BIS was the Bichon, Beau.  It’s the first all breed Best this year for Beau and handler Bill McFadden.  Congratulations to Bill, breeder/owner Vickie Halstead, and owner Dr Mary Wangsness.

RALEIGH NC DAY THREE

Day three in Raleigh NC ended with Michael Faulkner in the final ring for the Durham Kennel Club.  The seven he chose from were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoo Champagne Supernova, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Criston Enchanted, the GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Crunch, the Pug, GCH CH Riversong’s Doc Holiday, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.  

Best went to the Pug, Doc.  It’s the second all breed Best for Doc, who is just 19 months old.  Doc has been the Number One Pug in breed points.  We will wait until the weeks points are all in to see if this win is good enough to make him Number One in all breed points.  Our congratulations to breeder/owner Carolyn Koch and handler Barry Clothier.

VALLEJO CA DAY ONE

West coast exhibitors were out in force today in Vallejo CA, our old back yard, for today’s San Mateo Kennel Club show, the first of four all breed shows by the San Francisco Bay.  

Today Polly Smith gathered the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gaia of Yoshida Enterprises, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Loam Point Huckleberry, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Nisyros Al Pachino, the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel Harvest Moon.  

Best went to the Chin, Marcel.  It’s the first for the four year old English import who was the breed winner at December’s AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Breeder: David Anderson & Ian Watt, owners Felicia M Cashin, Jennifer Stevens, & Maripi Wooldridge, and handler Wood Wornall.

RALEIGH NC DAY TWO

The Number One and Number Two Dogs All Breeds faced off at today’s Alamance Kennel Club show in Raleigh NC.  Eric Ringle had to make the tough decision choosing from the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker’s Rumpus Bumpus.   

He chose the Doberman, FiFi, as his BIS.  FiFi’s eighth BIS of the year will put her in a virtual tie for the  Number One spot with the GWP, Oakley.    However, it’s only Thursday.  There’s a lot of weekend ahead.

Our first show of the week is in the record books.  Dawn Hansen had the judges book at today’s Carey Kennel Club show in Raleigh NC.   The seven who were there on day one were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting field’s Bahama Sands, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Skye Terrier, CH of Skyeyline Captain Hook, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.    

Fresh from a very successful four days in Louisville, The Kuvazs, Tanner, picks up the first BIS of this week.  Tanner and handler Diana Wilson now have three BIS and a Top Ten berth this season.

CLUMBER SPANIEL NATIONAL

Here in the United States we appreciate our unique breeds.  Clumber Spaniel enthusiasts gathered in Kerrville TX last Thursday for the 2012 Clumber Spaniel Club Of America National Specialty.  Breeder Judge Ralph Dunne  had 79 Clumbers to choose his Best In Specialty Show.  His choice was GCH CH Nexus Total Eclipse.  Additional winners include Best of Opposite Sex CH Clussexx Wacs and Waves, Winners Dog/Best of Winners Clussexx This and That from Traddles, and Winners Bitch Moonryn It’s All About Meme.      

BISS Eli was Best Puppy at the 2011 national specialty and winner of a regional specialty as a puppy.  Eli adds the national title to his resume at the tender age 22 months.  Congratulations to breeders Collette Jaynes & Shirley Fankhauser, owners Shelley Miller, Chip Miller & James Fankhauser, and Kassandra Hamaker.

YORK PA DAYS 3, 4, & 5

Meanwhile back on the East Coast dog folks were gathered in York PA for five days of festivities.  We did give you the results from last Wednesday & Thursday.      

On Friday, it was the hometown York Kennel Club hosting and judge Jan Paulk in the final ring with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic's Candie Ham Of Pebbles' Run, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Wonderlands Heavily Armed Agitator, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Krissey's Savvy Jasper, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.       

 It was 2011’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Cocker, Beckham, picking up his 13th BIS of 2012. Will it be  good enough to hold on to his Number Three All Breed ranking?  We will be the first to tell you.

Saturday, Dr John Ioia greeted the Brittany, GCH CH Carroltons Count Lancelot, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore's Diamond Lil, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Laochragh's Clancy, the Papillon, GCH CH Involo The King Of Pop, the Xoloitzcuintli, Tecoman, and the above named Australian Shepherd.      

Best at the day one show of the Delaware County Kennel Club was the Irish Terrier, Clancy.  It’s the first of the year for Clancy and handler Adam Bernardin.  Congratulations to Adam, breeder Christine Marsh, and owners Ken Marsh & Kelly Marsh.

Sunday’s day DCKC show featured Dana Cline in the final ring with the previously mentioned Foxhound, Dane, & AmStaff, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Gingerly's Sweet Tea, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Beauceron, GCH CH Beowolf Rime des Monts du Lac.      

Best went to the stunning black Great Dane, Scout.  For all of you that want a credible argument for ear cropping, the above picture is worth a thousand words.  It is the first all breed BIS for Scout, who is not yet two years old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Patricia Tootie Longo, David Miller, & Lorraine Matherly, and handler Laura Lynn Coomes.

DEL SUR KENNEL CLUB 2

We will start our weekend catch up on the west coast where the Del Sur Kennel Club was in Valley Center CA for two very wet days of shows.  You can get all the wet & wild results from Saturday here.

The brave souls that stayed all day on Sunday were the Clumber Spaniel, Vanreel's There Goes My Money CD, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Caryola's Antigua, the Irish Terrier, CH Rockledge Mccallen Of Meath, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel,     GCH CH Crizwood Undeniable, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH  Hatch Tillie De La Salsa.

 It was the dog in the all weather coat, the Bouvier, Hatch, picking up the big rosette from judge Edd Bivin.  It’s the second this year for Hatch and handler Larry Fenner.  Gonna be a good year for Bouviers.

TWO DAYS IN HOUSTON TX

Having just arrived home from Louisville KY, we will have to do an afternoon edition of  our Monday Morning Mop Up.  We will start in the place we haven’t visited this weekend, Houston TX where the hometown Houston Kennel Club was up first.  

Robert Caszwell called the final on Saturday, choosing his Best from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Shadowland’s Paws Applause at Tristar CD RA CGC TDI, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH K-Run Lanbur the Truth All Around, the Great Dane, GCH CH Challenger’s Samurai v Lamar, the Standard Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Reid’s Impeccable Topsey, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Jade East Do You Know The Way To San Jose, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s tails of Mystery.  

He chose the Golden, Sydney.  It’s the first AKC BIS his year’ for Sydney.  Congratulations to breeders Joanne R Johnson & Monica McGee, owners Sharmin Dominke, Catherine Meddaugh, & Julie Matney, and handler Carol Hoare.

Sunday, the Galveston County Kennel Club took over and put Joan Luna in the final ring with the English setter, GCH CH Set’s Ride’s Dirty Dancing, the aforementioned Beagle, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Dornick’s El Capitain, the above named Toy Spaniel, the French Bulldog,  CH Major League’s Might Joe at Winsome, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sportingfields Pieta.  

Best was the Boxer, Macey.  Macey and handler Michael Shepherd now have six BIS this year, equaling their 2011 total.  M&M are on a mission.

Col Joe Purkhiser had the last ring at today’s Fort Lauderdale Dog Club show in Davie FL.  The seven he saw were the Flat Coat Retriever, GCH CH Destiny As Good As It Gets JH, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Encore Rerun of Riordan, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Starrdogs Faye Wray of Silverback, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, the Maltese, GCHCH Chrisman's Shiny Toy Gun, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Sunburst One Cool Dude.   

His BIS was the Frenchie, It’s the first this year for 2011’s  Number One French Bulldog.   Congratulations to  breeders Vickie Lang, Patricia Sosa, & Luis Sosa, owner Nancy Shaw, and handler Lawrence W Cornelius.

KANSAS CITY MO DAY FOUR

While Louisville was giving us a new Number Two Dog, our Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter, was adding to his point total with a BIS, & thre Sporting Group placements, in Kansas City MO.  The BIS came today at the Heart of America Kennel Club show under judge Keke Kahn.  

Oakley and handler Phil Booth were joined in the final ring by the Afghan Hound, CH Elmo's Martian Chronicles, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D's Remember When, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Melbees Witchs Consort , the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla's Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Keeshond, GCH CH Daimler's Caviar Dreams, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Frontier License to Carry at Margaux.  Oakley’s ninth Best In Show of the year will keep him out in front of a crowd of other dogs in hot pursuit.

I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUERED

The big weekend here in Louisville KY concluded today with Carol Spritzer’s final at the day two show of the Louisville Kennel Club.  We predicted that these four shows could have a huge effect on the national rankings and it appears that has been the case.  The Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, made good on her name (Latin for I came, I saw, I conquered), taking home both of the LKC’s two BIS trophies.  

Her companions in today’s final, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the  Whippet, GCH CH Bo-Bett’s Speed Demon, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH AfterAll’s Painting the Sky, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder, all will take home A bucket full of all breed points.  However, the Doberman, FiFi, will find herself this week with the title of the Number Two Dog All Breeds and on the heels of the Number One Dog.

DEL SUR KC DAY ONE

"It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya? It pours, man, it pours" so goes the lyrics to the classic song and so went yesterday in Valley Center CA at the day one show of the Del Sur Kennel Club.
The finalists that slogged their way to James Fredericksen's BIS ring were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH In Collaboration with Traddles, the Borzoi, GCH CH Aruzia Priority One JC, the Bernese Mountain, GCH CH Sapphire's Briscoe, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Rockledge McCallen of Meath, the Japanese Chin, Al Pachino, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Takishan No Limit.

Best went to the Clumber, Seymour. it's the third this year for the Clumber from Colombia.

KANSAS CITY MO DAY THREE

The Heart of America Kennel Club had day three in Kansas City MO and Dr Robert Smith had the pleasure of the company of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Scion Hot Pants RN, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dream Catcher Major Victory of Loki, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH  Temris Bully For Me, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Keeshond,   Jenndi's Foolish Games, and German Shepherd Dog, CH Lonestar’s Margarita Ros.  

His Best was the sleek Saluki, Bubbles.  It’s the second BIS this year for Bubbles and handler Erin Robert.  We think we will see more from this couple.
