HAVE YOU SEEN THIS ONE?

GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi

One dog that has been quietly climbing the rankings lately is the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi.  It was three months ago to the day that we deemed Mimi  a DOG2WATCH.  Since then she has collected ten BIS.

Her latest came at this weekend’s Timberland Valley Dog Fanciers Association’s two shows in Chehalis WA.  On Saturday Mimi and handler Nancy Martin won the approval of judge Susan Norris-Jones while the Golden Retriever, Rush Hill's Drama'geddon, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH Eskai's Sir Kasper, the Great Dane, CH Daynakin's Soulja Boy (RBIS) , the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Clossongrey As You Wish, the Chow Chow, and the German Shepherd Dog, Clayfield Good Day Sunshine, watched.

FRESH FACE HAT TRICK

CH Dawin Hearts on Fire

Next we talk about one of those fresh faces, the Standard Poodle, CH Dawin Hearts on Fire.   The 16 month old bitch had quite the coming out party in Sedalia MO this weekend, sweeping all three events. Check our archives for details on Friday’s and Saturday’s Jefferson City Kennel Club of Missouri shows.

The Sedalia Kennel Club had the closer and James Fredericksen had the call.  Joining Flame and handler Sarah Riedl were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr'n Wingfield Time Will Tell, the Whippet, CH Starline's Oxford Victim Of Love, the Doberman Pinscher, MiraVia UR Time is Gonna Come, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hellraiser,  the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Bells Will be Ringing, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Grandgables Jolie Victor Ludorum.

Back in August of 2008, the very first week we published Dog Show Poop, we wrote an homage to the Standard Poodle, the dog that is universally seen as the ambassador for our sport.  Among the great Poodles I have written about these last four years, is Flame’s mother, GCH CH Dawin Spitfire, who finished 2010 s the Number One Non-Sporting Dog.  It is immensely satisfying for us to celebrate the next generation.   That is, after all, why we do what we do.

IT'S ALL SOCAL AT SUMMERFEST

GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky

Our Monday Morning Mop Up today will focus on big numbers and fresh faces.  We are going to start out on the West Coast in the quintessential California paradise of Ventura.  The three day stop provided better than 7000 points for the competitors and dogs from all over the nation flocked to the ocean side town to collect their share.   Nonetheless, dogs from Southern California would dominate the weekend. You can read about Friday’s Channel City Kennel Club here.

GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin

The Wire Fox Terrier from Rialto CA, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, would collect the lion’s share of the points, taking home the big rosettes from both Saturday’s Santa Maria Kennel Club and Sunday’s Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association.  Om Saturday, Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel would impress Judith Daniels more than the her Reserve BIS, the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Cantanya’s Latin Lover, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Shida Glamazon, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeride Encore, or the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Hatch Tillie de la Salsa.

GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova

Sunday, Carl Anderson would consider the same Springer, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz’s Silver Lining, the Wire, Sky, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windmere's Dusting Of White At Pevyne, the Chow Chow, CH Padow's Twilight Embrey In A New Moon At Asans, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar, before choosing Sky as his BIS and the Springer, Peyton as his RBIS.

The wins bring to 15 the number of all breed Bests this year for Sky.  The question is how many spots will Sky move up in the rankings as a result.  We will be the first to tell you.
