The country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, move closer to making that status permanent by taking today’s Lake County Kennel Club Best In Show, the second installment of Woofstock’s four offerings.  The win was worth 1622 points, good enough to increase Sky’s lead over the rest of the Top Ten to better than 13,000 dogs defeated.

Sky was not the only finalist from yesterday to return to Robert Slay’s final.  The Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, & the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, were all back for a second try.  They were joined by the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Sleepy Hollow Carolina Special, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Lowdown Remys Girl V Ardenhout, and the timely named Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Woodstock’s Belle Star, who also took the Reserve spot.

While Sky’s lead may look insurmountable, we hasten to point out that last year at this time the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, trailed the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, by 3500 points.  By the end of the year, the Springer lead the Doberman by 28,000 points, a turnaround of more than 31,000 points, in six months.  That’s more than twice the lead Sky currently hold.  As we always say, don’t bet the lunch money.  There’s still lots more of to come this year.
