COME ON IN! IT'S PARTY TIME

Welcome to Our Garden Party! Tune your TV to USA Network and join us for the dogdom's ultimate armchair quarterbacking. Please say hello to your host when you come in and then feel free to mingle. It's like any other open house.

Madison Square Garden

There are very few rules. Feel free to cheer for your favorites and make fun of the spectators. Just please, this is a PG 13 room. We all appreciate humor, just keep it clean and don't be too cruel (a little teasing is OK). To participate just leave a comment and then refresh your screen frequently to view the latest comments. We had lots of fun last year and more than 20,000 people stopped by during the two days. Hopefully, no one will call the Fire Marshall.

  5. We also have one of our past top ten all breed dogs in the Hound Group, 2008 top ten dog, the Harrier, CH Downhome Family Tradition

    ReplyDelete
  6. Lola is the top winning 15" Beagle bitch in History

    ReplyDelete
  7. Did you guys see they missed up on the american foxhound. I said Basenji instead, I guess they were having tech. difficulties.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, they had their papers shuffled, lol

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd pull the 15" Beagle, the Wirehaired Dachshund, and the Basenji

    ReplyDelete
  11. This is the Greyhound that won the Group at the National Championship

    ReplyDelete
  12. I try not to put to much emphasis on who was beat and rather the quality of dogs that were there. Sometimes the best dogs aren't number one for various reasons and this does not mean they are not the better dog on the day :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. This is Coda, 2008 top ten dog all breeds

    ReplyDelete
  14. LOVE LOVE LOVE this Harrier!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've seen the wire doxie before and I really liked him, I hope he makes the cut.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I gotta believe it's no coincidence that Coda came out of retirement for this show

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe not. I'd love to see Coda do well tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is CeeJay last year's top Hound

    ReplyDelete
  19. I do think the quality is a bit higher in the second half, I would cut the same dogs you mentioned and ad Tessy the Coonhound and the Longhaired Dach.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone watch the handler of the Plot pinching her dog in the breed this morning? It was "interesting"

    ReplyDelete
  21. There sure were a lot oif nice Ridgebacks in the US last year

    ReplyDelete
  22. I didn't see that. I wouldn't recommend it with my /Scottie. lol

    ReplyDelete
  23. This Whippet came out of a tough Breed today

    ReplyDelete
  24. She also won one of the two huge Palm Springs shows.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Last but not least, she looked beautiful and Lori looks amazing! Tough group overall.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm guessing the RR, Whippet, WD, and Harrier place not sure what order but those 4 our the big standouts to me, the PBGV could place too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would have liked to see Coda out there.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Me too. This is a lovely line up of dogs.

    ReplyDelete
  29. hmm.... not exactly what I picked but still nice, Way to go Channel and Lori.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, that give Lori some confidence. lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think the Whippet is beautiful, loved the beagle and dachshund too, thought they could have got a placement, tough group

    ReplyDelete
  32. Don't forget to turn your TV to CNBC at 9:00 EST

    ReplyDelete
  33. There were a number of upsets in the Toy breeds today

    ReplyDelete
  34. However, 2009's number one Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, won the breed as did the hot new Shih Tzu, CH Jolei Hallmark Austin Powers.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I showed a Maltese at my first Westminster

    ReplyDelete
  36. This judge has put up a Pug at her last three Toy Groups

    ReplyDelete
  37. And of Course Taser is in there, I'm thinking the toy poodle is going to win, taser will place and I'm not sure about the rest, I'll decide after i watch.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is Taser's third year as a top ten dog all breeds

    ReplyDelete
  39. I take it the room does not have a lot of Toy fans?

    ReplyDelete
  40. no, I watch it and show some but I'm not a huge fan I'd rather have my gsds and pwcs anyday. Sorry toy people :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Got me...I am a sporting dog lover. However, I do like Taser and the Brussels Griffon

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like Taser, the Griff, & the Cavalier

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nice group of dogs...I am a toy person now but a Sporting person at heart....got a record breaking Group 2 with a Field Spaniel a few years ago :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love Kim Pastella's Min Pin!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Maybe I should post as anonymous :P

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is David's Peke from last year. He has a new Champion that is even better

    ReplyDelete
  47. However, this dog could win the Group

    ReplyDelete
  48. This dog beat last year's Group four winner

    ReplyDelete
  49. this is a nice pappion. nice to see different ones since I live in Tx and see a lot of the same ones win.

but I'm predicting that the toy poodle is going to win and taser is going to get a group two. still not sure about the rest

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  50. However he won the National Specialty

    ReplyDelete
  51. This Shih Tzu has been burning it up so far this year

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'll switch from anonymous thought it was my only option. Love Taser and the Min Pin. Can't deny Walker either. However, I would still have to pick the two eight month old vizslas curled up on the sofa with me

    ReplyDelete
  53. The Poodle is hard to beat when he is on ans he was in tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The last Maltese Specialty I was at in 1978 Timothy was a 17 old Jr Handler

    ReplyDelete
  55. Non-Sporting Group should be interesting. The Bulldog got great local press building up to the show

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm tivoing the show so I can get ready for tomorrow's AKC inspection! However, Coonhound handlers normally show the dogs standing on a bench. They give little pinches to keep the dog standing perfectly in position. A little pinch on the belly makes the loin arch properly while a little pinch on the toe makes the dog move its feet into a correct position. Coonhounds are some of the best trained show dogs in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  57. the bulldog will be hard to beat

    ReplyDelete
  58. I had not seen the bulldog, (except in pictures) shes lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I have seen her close up and she is all that!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have seen the Bulldog many times - tonight is the first time her down and back looked sound. She looked better tonight than I have ever seen her look. She will be tough to beat but this is a nice group.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sorry , didn't want to be anonymous. Sorry for coming in late Billy, just got home from a meeting and am just now joining the fun! Noticed that Kim's Min Pin Major didn't get a piece of the group, nor did Lola and Marcelo in the Hound Group - this is a tough competition year! Sue Bani (cannot figure out the signature thing!)

    ReplyDelete
  62. It's going to be between this Poodle and the The Bulldog

    ReplyDelete
  63. Picking thrree and four is going to be tough

    ReplyDelete
  64. I agree with you Billy,
I bet that the shar pie of Davids places too,
I'm not sure about the others.

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  65. Tehre are some very nice dogs in this group - this Tibetan is a nice clean mover and has a nice go around. Again, tough competition but I think the Bulldog has been the one to beat from the start. Some of the best NS dogs didn't make it out of the breed - seems to be the theme for the day! Nice Whippet though - if I have to come into that late! Sue Bani

    ReplyDelete
  66. Nice, don't even let them all go around...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Wow different I love upsets!!!! :)
    Good Job Perry!

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  68. WOW! Not at all what I would have thought and my best friend owns the number one/two (not sure at this point) French Bulldog Bitch in the country - oh well, hmm . . . another Westminster upset! Sue Bani

    ReplyDelete
  69. Now time for the Best group :)!!

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  70. I agree with you Sue, there were a lot of NS dogs that should have made it to the Group. I don't know the frenchie, but he beat some really good ones to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  71. He has not won a BIS that I know of. He beat MANY BIS Frenchies to get there and I just texted my friend (who is ringside) to see what she tells me! As always, Westminster is full of surprises! Sue B

    ReplyDelete
  72. I do think the Herding Group may be the toughest

    ReplyDelete
  73. yes and jimmy is debuting a new gsd so that should be interesting.

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  74. It is FULL of quality dogs - it will be a lot of fun to watch! I love the Rough Collie - so there's my two cents before we get started! Sue B.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I thought Jimmy got beat in the breed today

    ReplyDelete
  76. no he won with a new dog. saw on the gsd list.

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  77. OK, not the same one he had at Eukanuba?

    ReplyDelete
  78. right, its very confusing. LOL!

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  79. Roy, the Beardie, is one of my favorites

    ReplyDelete
  80. Very Nice Belgian Sheepdog! Sue B.

    ReplyDelete
  81. agree, I loved the Belgian sheepdog!

    --gsdgirl

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hmmm, not super impressed overall, did love the Beardie and the Border.

    ReplyDelete
  83. The Aussie has a wonderful expression, and is also very nice. The Briard moved very nice down and back and is overall well balanced - so far this group is the deepest in quality! Sue b.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The judge is a Shelite breeder, I believe

    ReplyDelete
  85. This is a GORGEOUS Collie! Very sound moving - geez this group just keeps getting better! You were right Billy - what depth in this group! Sue b

    ReplyDelete
  86. I wanna know how Bruce managed to go BIS here (Oregon) yesterday and make it there in time for breed today? Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  87. How come Bill is handling this Corgi?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think I heard it was because he is judging again.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I got photos of him showing in the breed ring today

    ReplyDelete
  90. I got the Puli, Rough Collie, Beardie, and.....

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wow, I am surprised she left the Collie out.

    ReplyDelete
  92. But I'm glad she found room for the Belgian

    ReplyDelete
  93. cool, I liked her placings, kinda glad the rough collie didn't place since I'm a fan of Ivan the other rough collie who didn't go to west.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Thanks everyone for coming. I always learn so much

    ReplyDelete
  95. ok let us folks know who won!!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Who won the Herding Group?

    /dr

    ReplyDelete
  97. Hi Billy
Not every one has TV to watch, please post placings for herding

    ReplyDelete
  98. Jen Wornall will be showing the Corgi the rest of the year since Bill is going back to judging. Bill decided before the show if Molly won he would have Jen show her in the group.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Its all about Chanel this year!
