There are very few rules. Feel free to cheer for your favorites and make fun of the spectators. Just please, this is a PG 13 room. We had lots of fun last year and more than 20,000 people stopped by during the two days. Hopefully, no one will call the Fire Marshall.
Welcome everyone to our second annual Garden Party!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed how many of the favorites were beaten in the breed today?
ReplyDeleteAnd....we're off!
ReplyDeleteThe current number one Hound, the Afghan, CH Genesis Silverado, was defeated in the breed today.
ReplyDeleteRetired from the show scene after 39 years..
ReplyDeleteIsure enjoy your contribution to the sport Billie.Published the obedience newspaper Front & Finish with Bob Self and some great times with Ray and Ginger Scott when the were in the Midwest.
Thanks, AJH
We also have one of our past top ten all breed dogs in the Hound Group, 2008 top ten dog, the Harrier, CH Downhome Family Tradition
ReplyDeleteLola is the top winning 15" Beagle bitch in History
ReplyDeleteDid you guys see they missed up on the american foxhound. I said Basenji instead, I guess they were having tech. difficulties.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they had their papers shuffled, lol
ReplyDeleteWelcome

ReplyDeleteVery nice Doxie
ReplyDeleteWho did you like in the first half?
ReplyDeleteI'd pull the 15" Beagle, the Wirehaired Dachshund, and the Basenji
ReplyDeleteThis is the Greyhound that won the Group at the National Championship
ReplyDeleteThis is Coda, 2008 top ten dog all breeds
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE this Harrier!!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the wire doxie before and I really liked him, I hope he makes the cut.
ReplyDeleteI gotta believe it's no coincidence that Coda came out of retirement for this show
ReplyDeleteMaybe not. I'd love to see Coda do well tonight.
ReplyDeleteThis is CeeJay last year's top Hound
ReplyDeleteThere sure were a lot oif nice Ridgebacks in the US last year
ReplyDeleteI didn't see that. I wouldn't recommend it with my /Scottie. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is my pick for the Group
ReplyDeleteThis Whippet came out of a tough Breed today
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely.
ReplyDeleteShe also won one of the two huge Palm Springs shows.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the RR, Whippet, WD, and Harrier place not sure what order but those 4 our the big standouts to me, the PBGV could place too.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to see Coda out there.
ReplyDeleteMe too. This is a lovely line up of dogs.
ReplyDeleteI can't quibble with that
ReplyDeletehmm.... not exactly what I picked but still nice, Way to go Channel and Lori.
ReplyDeleteWell, that give Lori some confidence. lol
ReplyDeleteMy Cairn hates the Subaru dogs.
ReplyDeleteI think the Whippet is beautiful, loved the beagle and dachshund too, thought they could have got a placement, tough group
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to turn your TV to CNBC at 9:00 EST
ReplyDeleteThere were a number of upsets in the Toy breeds today
ReplyDeleteHowever, 2009's number one Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, won the breed as did the hot new Shih Tzu, CH Jolei Hallmark Austin Powers.
ReplyDeleteI showed a Maltese at my first Westminster
ReplyDeleteThis judge has put up a Pug at her last three Toy Groups
ReplyDeleteAnd of Course Taser is in there, I'm thinking the toy poodle is going to win, taser will place and I'm not sure about the rest, I'll decide after i watch.
ReplyDeleteThis is Taser's third year as a top ten dog all breeds
ReplyDeleteI take it the room does not have a lot of Toy fans?
ReplyDeleteno, I watch it and show some but I'm not a huge fan I'd rather have my gsds and pwcs anyday. Sorry toy people :)
ReplyDeleteWho do you like?
ReplyDeleteGot me...I am a sporting dog lover. However, I do like Taser and the Brussels Griffon
ReplyDeleteI like Taser, the Griff, & the Cavalier
ReplyDeleteI love Kim Pastella's Min Pin!
ReplyDeleteI like this Min Pin
ReplyDeleteThis is David's Peke from last year. He has a new Champion that is even better
ReplyDeleteHowever, this dog could win the Group
ReplyDeleteThis dog beat last year's Group four winner
ReplyDeletethis is a nice pappion. nice to see different ones since I live in Tx and see a lot of the same ones win.
ReplyDeletebut I'm predicting that the toy poodle is going to win and taser is going to get a group two. still not sure about the rest
--gsdgirl
Nice job for the Poodle
ReplyDeleteThis Pug upset some heavy hitters
ReplyDeleteHowever he won the National Specialty
ReplyDeleteThis Shih Tzu has been burning it up so far this year
ReplyDeleteI'll switch from anonymous thought it was my only option. Love Taser and the Min Pin. Can't deny Walker either. However, I would still have to pick the two eight month old vizslas curled up on the sofa with me
ReplyDeleteThe Poodle is hard to beat when he is on ans he was in tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with the Peke
ReplyDeleteThe last Maltese Specialty I was at in 1978 Timothy was a 17 old Jr Handler
ReplyDeleteCan't argue with that
ReplyDeleteNon-Sporting Group should be interesting. The Bulldog got great local press building up to the show
ReplyDeleteI'm tivoing the show so I can get ready for tomorrow's AKC inspection! However, Coonhound handlers normally show the dogs standing on a bench. They give little pinches to keep the dog standing perfectly in position. A little pinch on the belly makes the loin arch properly while a little pinch on the toe makes the dog move its feet into a correct position. Coonhounds are some of the best trained show dogs in the world.
ReplyDeleteBichon looked quite nice
ReplyDeleteHe beat some very good dogs today
ReplyDeleteHi, Cindy!
ReplyDeletethe bulldog will be hard to beat
ReplyDeleteLove that Bulldog!
ReplyDeleteI have seen her close up and she is all that!
ReplyDeleteI have seen the Bulldog many times - tonight is the first time her down and back looked sound. She looked better tonight than I have ever seen her look. She will be tough to beat but this is a nice group.
ReplyDeleteSorry , didn't want to be anonymous. Sorry for coming in late Billy, just got home from a meeting and am just now joining the fun! Noticed that Kim's Min Pin Major didn't get a piece of the group, nor did Lola and Marcelo in the Hound Group - this is a tough competition year! Sue Bani (cannot figure out the signature thing!)
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be between this Poodle and the The Bulldog
ReplyDeletePicking thrree and four is going to be tough
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Billy,
ReplyDeleteI bet that the shar pie of Davids places too,
I'm not sure about the others.
--gsdgirl
Tehre are some very nice dogs in this group - this Tibetan is a nice clean mover and has a nice go around. Again, tough competition but I think the Bulldog has been the one to beat from the start. Some of the best NS dogs didn't make it out of the breed - seems to be the theme for the day! Nice Whippet though - if I have to come into that late! Sue Bani
ReplyDeleteWow different I love upsets!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGood Job Perry!
--gsdgirl
Wow, that was a surprise
ReplyDeleteWOW! Not at all what I would have thought and my best friend owns the number one/two (not sure at this point) French Bulldog Bitch in the country - oh well, hmm . . . another Westminster upset! Sue Bani
ReplyDeleteNow time for the Best group :)!!
ReplyDelete--gsdgirl
I agree with you Sue, there were a lot of NS dogs that should have made it to the Group. I don't know the frenchie, but he beat some really good ones to get there.
ReplyDeleteHe has not won a BIS that I know of. He beat MANY BIS Frenchies to get there and I just texted my friend (who is ringside) to see what she tells me! As always, Westminster is full of surprises! Sue B
ReplyDeleteI do think the Herding Group may be the toughest
ReplyDeleteyes and jimmy is debuting a new gsd so that should be interesting.
ReplyDelete--gsdgirl
It is FULL of quality dogs - it will be a lot of fun to watch! I love the Rough Collie - so there's my two cents before we get started! Sue B.
ReplyDeleteI thought Jimmy got beat in the breed today
ReplyDeleteno he won with a new dog. saw on the gsd list.
ReplyDelete--gsdgirl
OK, not the same one he had at Eukanuba?
ReplyDeleteright, its very confusing. LOL!
ReplyDelete--gsdgirl
Roy, the Beardie, is one of my favorites
ReplyDeleteVery Nice Belgian Sheepdog! Sue B.
ReplyDeleteagree, I loved the Belgian sheepdog!
ReplyDelete--gsdgirl
The Aussie has a wonderful expression, and is also very nice. The Briard moved very nice down and back and is overall well balanced - so far this group is the deepest in quality! Sue b.
ReplyDeleteThe judge is a Shelite breeder, I believe
ReplyDeleteSheltie
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful Smooth
ReplyDeleteThis is a GORGEOUS Collie! Very sound moving - geez this group just keeps getting better! You were right Billy - what depth in this group! Sue b
ReplyDeleteHow come Bill is handling this Corgi?
ReplyDeleteisn't, sorry
ReplyDeleteI think I heard it was because he is judging again.
ReplyDeleteConrad looks great
ReplyDeleteI got photos of him showing in the breed ring today
ReplyDeleteMust be a conflict with this judge
ReplyDeleteI got the Puli, Rough Collie, Beardie, and.....
ReplyDeleteBriard, maybe
ReplyDeleteWow, I am surprised she left the Collie out.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad she found room for the Belgian
ReplyDeletecool, I liked her placings, kinda glad the rough collie didn't place since I'm a fan of Ivan the other rough collie who didn't go to west.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for coming. I always learn so much
ReplyDeleteok let us folks know who won!!!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to join us again tomorrow
ReplyDeleteWho won the Herding Group?
ReplyDelete/dr
Hi Billy
ReplyDeleteNot every one has TV to watch, please post placings for herding
Jen Wornall will be showing the Corgi the rest of the year since Bill is going back to judging. Bill decided before the show if Molly won he would have Jen show her in the group.
ReplyDeleteIts all about Chanel this year!
