RARE NEAPOLITAN MASTIFF BIS

GCH CH Ironwood's Papparazzi

This past weekend the Spirit Of The Heartland Kennel Club and the Jefferson County Kennel Club Of Missouri hosted their shows in one of the few venues in the US designed especially for dog shows, the Purina Farms complex in Gray Summit MO outside of St Louis.

The seven dogs that made judge Faye Strauss’ final on Saturday were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Dixieland Duchess, the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia's Allamyrra Hajji, the Neapolitan Mastiff, GCH CH Ironwood's Papparazzi, the Standard Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Medley's War Hunt, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thoughts, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog's Major League Homerun At TX Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

GCH CH Medley's War Hunt

Finishing one/two were the Neapolitan and the Manchester.  It’s been a great year for Papparazzi and breeder/owner/handler James Deppen.  Paparazzi was the 2012 breed winner at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, breed winner at the 2013 Westminster Kennel Club show, and winner of last Saturday’s Neapolitan Mastiff Club of America’s National Specialty.  Saturday was the first Best In Show and Group One for Papparazzi, only the second Neapolitan to ever win a big rosette.  Congratulations to Jim, co-breeder Mimi Winkler, and owner Susan Vann-Spruill.

Only the Griff and Frenchie would make it back to judge Lee Brown’s final on Sunday.  They were joined by the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under the Influence, the Great Dane. GCH CH Lobato’s Caught Red Handed, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Ciarrai’s Beltane Embers, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Ciregna That’s Amore.

The two he liked the best were the Great Dane and the Griff.  It’s the first for the not yet three year old Great Dane bitch.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Joy Lobato & Angela Stillwell, owner Leslie Hotchkiss, and handler Earl Shore.
