MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

This past week has been our busiest of the year with 46 all breed shows in 15 different locations and that’s not counting the big Terrier happening in Long Beach CA, the Great Western Terrier Association Of Southern California two shows.  Our Monday Morning Mop Up will begin in Waynesburg PA where the four shows drew a total of 1,460 dogs.  Despite the low numbers each final was full of talent.

On Thursday Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine’s South Hill Kennel Club final included a Top Ten Dog and five additional BIS winning dogs.  They were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Crosswinds Absolut Ten Of Acadia, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dassin Hillwood Rock On By, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear.

She would go with the Portie, Mattise, as her Best and the Peke, Rodger, as her Reserve.  Matisse is the country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds with 35 BIS this year.

Matisse would move on to New Paltz NY on Friday, leaving judge Joyce Fortney to choose her top two from the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Dawnglow Knight Rider, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Sweetgrass Johann Tipper, the Saint Bernard, GCH CH Jamelle's Aristocrat V Elba CGC RN, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Banbury Bedrock Bright Star Bright, the Peke, Rodger, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the same Pyrenean, Sunny Bear.

BIS at the Mountaineer Kennel Club’s day one show was the Peke, Rodger.  Judge Fortney’s RBIS was the Pyrenean Shepherd, Sunny Bear.  It would be the first of two BIS for Rodger and owner/handler David Fitzpatrick this weekend.

Saturday Rodger and David would join the Brittany, GCH CH Triumphant's As Good As It Gets JH, the Basset Hound, CH Stonewall Ol’South Loretta, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Top Shelf Old Number Seven, the previously seen Bull Terrier, Yum Yum, the same Shar-Pei, Tinsel, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Steeler Nation.

Walking away with the BIS was the Shar-Pei, Tinsel.  The reserve award went to the Bull Terrier, Yum Yum.  Tinsel is the nation’s Number One Shar Pei and the Number Five Non-Sporting Dog with four BIS and 22 Non-Sporting Groups.

Pat Mowbray-Morgan would close it out for the MKC choosing Rodger as her Best and the  Pyrenean Shepherd, Sunny Bear, as her Reserve.  Rounding out the final were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Fireside’s Rio Grande JH, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Sweetgrass Johann Tipper, the Samoyed, GCH CH Kolinka’s Precious Tangy, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Yoeckydoe’s Kissproof, and the Shar-Pei, Tinsel. 

Rodger and David are maintain a more leisurely pace this year than most of our other top dogs, but they still have seven BIS and 29 Toy Groups to their credit this year.
