The Lawton Dog Fanciers in Lawton OK was the only two day venue this weekend and drew a quality, if not quantity, crowd. On Saturday Dr Steve Keating chose the Scottish Terrier, McScots-Karascots Ruffton’s Six Shooter as his BIS out of a seven that included the Irish Setter, GCCH CH Herihunda’s Table For One, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Portuguese Water Dog, CH Domarco Domino, the Havanese, CH D’Va Spellbound In Motion, the Boston Terrier, CH Gumbo-Kean’s Cosmic Stargazer, and the Rough Collie, CH Sylvan Argent It’s All About Me. It’s the first BIS for the not yet two year old. Congratulations to breeders/owners Jim Schultz, Shirley Karas, & Richard Fowler.
On Sunday Col Joe Purkhiser considered the Pharaoh Hound, PWD, Scottie, & Boston Terrier, the German wirehaired Pointer, CH Aspendel Pale Rider JH, the Miniature Pinscher, CH Orchid’s high Speed Bump, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Copperridges’s Fire N Bayouland, before choosing the Number One Pharaoh Hound in history, Qing. The Dog Community has lost another great person. It is with great sadness that I pass along that Bruce Wylie of Delaware, OH passed away Saturday after a long and tough battle with cancer. He had lived the past 10 years with the awful disease but you would have never known it on most days with his up beat personality. He and his wife, Ruth breed and show Golden Ret.'s under the kennel name Wylwind. Bruce was also a judge and absoutley loved judging and had a wonderful eye for a "correct" golden. His family is asking In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to: Golden Retriever Foundation, PO Box 3462 Omaha, NE 68103 or the Kidney Cancer Association, PO Box 3516, Oak Brook, IL 60522-3516, in Bruce’s memory.
