THE WEEKEND HAS ALREADY STARTED

It’s summer vacation time and dog show folks are going to spend that time at…dog shows. Coming up over the next seven or so days, fanciers will have plenty of choices for an extended stay ring side.

Great Falls MT

Let’s start with what we’ve dubbed the Montana Motorcross. It started yesterday in Billings with the first of three shows hosted by the Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club. Friday, the RVs caravan moves a little over 200 miles up the road to Great Falls where the Electric City Kenne Club (We did tell you the Affenpinscher, Taser is among the temporary residents of Montana?) is hosting two shows. Sunday, we’re 200 miles west in Missoula taking advantage of the hospitality of the Fire Valley Kennel Club for three days.

If eight days on the road is a little too much for you and the family, try one of the following four day offerings. New Yorkers can spend three days starting Thursday in suburban New Paltz with the Wallkill Kennel Club, the Shawangunk Kennel Club, and the Mid-Hudson Kennel Association before fighting 90 miles of New York traffic to attend the Staten Island Kennel Club show. Also starting Thursday Washingtonians have an easy 80 miles to Waynesboro PA for four days with the South Hills & Mountaineer Kennel Clubs.

Verazzano Bridge Staten Island NY

Starting Thursday the Valparaiso, Michiana, & Berrien Kennel Clubs have a four day stand in Valparaiso IN while the Anoka County Minnesota & Cambridge Minnesota Kennel Clubs will also give us four shows Sun in Cambridge MN, on those same days. The Brevard Kennel Club, the Central Florida Kennel Club, & the Space Coast Kennel Club Of Palm Bay join forces for three days in Orlando FL starting Friday. Traditional two day fare is available in Cumberland ME, Richmond VA, Iowa City IA, and Canby OR.

And we will loose our Terrier ID card if we don‘t mention the Great Western Terrier Association Of Southern California’s two days of shows in Long Beach CA Sat & Sun. This mini Montgormery County show has consistently drawn 800 scrappy dogs year after year. Sunday, the Terrier folk will be joined by the Toy Dog Breeders Association Of Southern California. The Virginia Terrier Club will also present an all Terrier show on Friday before the Virginia Kennel Club’s two shows in Richmond VA. Finally, the Aloha State Sporting Dog Association plans a one day limited breed show Saturday in Honolulu HI.
