CH COVENTRY VANITY FAIR RETIRES

We have learned that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Coventry Vanity Fair last appearance in the ring was at Sunday’s Bahia Sur Kennel Club show in Chula Vista CA.

As we reported here, Carly and breeder/owner/handler Bill Shelton walked away with that event’s top prize. That win made Carly the top breeder/owner handled Pembroke in AKC history. Carly also finishes as the second winningest Pembroke bitch ever, right behind her great aunt, CH Coventry Queue.

Carly finished 2008 as the country‘s number one Herding Dog and the number ten dog all breeds. Corgis are not flashy dogs. It takes an incredibly great breed specimen with outstanding ring presence to win Groups and BIS weekend after weekend. Among her memorable wins was BIS at the almost 4,000 dog 2008 Palm Spring Kennel Club and Group One at the 2008 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.

Statistics alone do not tell the story. If you were lucky enough to see Carly and Bill these past two years, you know that they had an incredible rapport that just charmed the judges and the gallery. We will always have a smile on our face whenever we think of the two of them in the ring. Behind every great dog is a great team and Bill and Carly were blessed with the loyal and supportive group of co-breeders Steven Leverly, Lisa Weiss-Nolechek, & Becky Williams DVM and co-owners Kevin Foist, Kerry Kirtley, & Deborah Salow.

Our thanks to Bill and Team Carly for sharing this lovely girl with us.
