GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet
In the US the Memorial Day weekend is the first weekend of summer. In the dog world it is the biggest weekend of the year with 57 all breed shows. To put that in perspective there were 30 all breed shows last week. This week is distinguished by two five day clusters as well as eight four day offerings. Exhibitors looking for an early start to the weekend found ten different venues with Friday events.
With so many events just about anyone could find a show in their backyard, but then a holiday weekend is an opportunity to get out an explore this great country.
One dog that took advantage of the long weekend was the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet. The California resident and his breeder/owner/handler Jay Hafford were in Freehold NJ yesterday for the Atlantic Shore Memorial Classic’s Opener, collecting the BIS at Friday’s Staten Island Kennel Club show.

Joining Wally and Jay in judge Joan Anselm’s final were her RBIS, the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmark Investigator, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Loral’s Trooper, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Monamour JP Energy of Kiss, the Pug, GCH CH Bev-R-Lys Indigo Lover Boy, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Diva’s Bastille My Heart, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bagatelle Rolling Moon Stone.
Wally, the country’s Number Five Hound, has not been campaigned as heavily as many of our top dogs, rarely leaving the west coast, but still has managed to earn three BIS and 13 Hound Group top prizes this year.
