VISIT THE MOUNTAIN TIME ZONE

GCH CH Steinhaus Maxim Courage RN

We don’t have many shows in the Mountain Time Zone, but fanciers have had the opportunity to pick up points and visit some of the country’s most impressive landscapes these past two weeks.

The Intermountain Kennel Club and the Utah Valley Kennel Club teamed up to host four shows May 2-5 in South Jordan UT near Salt Lake City.  The Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Steinhaus Maxim Courage RN, would take both of  the IKC’s BIS on Thursday and Friday.  On day judge Sonny Ambrosio preferred  Max to the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Welsh Terrier, CH Malvado Devil Woman, the Pekingese, CH Oakhill's Caught Red Handed, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH  Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and his RBIS, the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Thunderhill's Apple Bottom Jeans.

CH Full Throttle's Bis-cuit Eater!

Friday judge James Noe pulled Max and the Border Terrier, CH Full Throttle's Bis-cuit Eater! as her Best and Reserve.  He might have chosen the Golden Retriever, the Greyhound,  CH Windrock Wild Wood Weed SC FCH, the above named Peke, the Schipperke, GCH CH Bonchien Cedric The Entertainer, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travlers Pierce Arrow.

The two wins were the first this year for Max and handler Bill McFadden.  Congratulations to Bill, breeder Heather Pedersen, and owners Donald & Dorla Morse.

GCH CH Cottonwood Versace at Coreymore

The UVKC took over on Saturday and put Wanda Spediacci in the final ring with the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Whippet, GCH CH Cottonwood Versace at Coreymore, the Standard Schnauzer, Max, the previously seen Welsh Terrier, Peke, & Schipperke, and the Rough Collie, Windcrest Blown Away.

Her BIS was the Whippet, Gianni, and her RBIS was the Clumber, Seymour.    It was also the first BIS for the 20 month old dog.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Harriet Vincent and owner Sue Carbajal.

GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator

Robert Caswell had the closer in South Jordan on Sunday and his pick of the now familiar Clumber, Harrier, Schnauzer, & Welsh Terrier, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk Imagine That, the American Eskimo Dog, CH Sierra's Hallmark, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Barwoods Affair Of The Heart.

It was the Harrier, Chet, taking home the set’s last big rosette.  Reserve went to the Eskie, Bentley.

CH Aleph American Idol

For the past four days Chet and around 1400 other dogs have been in Albuquerque NM with the Rio Honda Kennel Club and the Coronado Kennel Club of New Mexico.  The RHKC had the first two days and they closed day one with Sari Brewster Tietjen in the final ring.  Joining her were the Clumber, Seymour, the Harrier, Chet, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Ecko Ridge's Big Easy Fast And Furious, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn's History In The Making, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Tarheel, the Standard Poodle, CH Aleph American Idol, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Her Best was the Poodle, Simon, and her Reserve was Chet, the Harrier.  Simon picks up his first AKC BIS after collecting one of the most prestigious wins in dogdom, the Best of Breed at the 2013 national Specialty of the Poodle Club of America last month.  Simon has returned home after a successful European campaigned including the Best of Breed at Crufts in 2012.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Betty Brown, co-breeder Jacquelyn Cohen, owner Paula Morgan, and handler Charlotte Sandell.

The CKCNM took over on Monday and asked Dr Gerard Penta to look over the now previously seen Harrier, Wire Fox, Standard Poodle, & OES, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Dogue de Bordeaux, GCH CH Evergreen's Rub My Belly At Rising Star, and the Maltese, CH Rhapsody's Someone Like You.  This time Sky would receive the RBIS, while the OES, Swagger, would pick up his fourth BIS of the season.  Swagger is the nation’s Number One Herding Dog.

Wrapping up the four days in the land of enchantment was judge Robert Boothe.  The seven who stayed late last night were the now familiar Harrier, Wire Fox, & OES, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Ventures Boys N Toys, the Samoyed, CH Magellan's Only Connect, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, and the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Vaje’s Jethrene Bodine.  Once again it would be the Harrier, Chet, closing with a BIS and Swagger, the OES, would add yet another RBIS to his famous collection.  Chet is the country’s Number Two Hound with four BIS this year and enough group wins to make him the Number 13 Dog All Breeds.
