FOUR DAYS IN MICHIGAN

GCH CH Kenro's Witching Hour

Last year this time we were in Kalamazoo MI for the Western Michigan Apple Blossom Cluster.  We were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of the five clubs that work together to bring the area a premier event.  Before we tell you about what’s been happening in Kalamazoo, let’s go to another Michigan town, Corunna for a report on last weekend’s Genessee County Kennel Club shows.

CH Broxden Waybroke Halstan Heritage

Inge Semenschin had the opening day final and her pick of the Irish Setter, GCH CH Bluerose Phantasmagorical, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Silhouette's AU Fish, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro's Witching Hour, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Broxden Waybroke Halstan Heritage, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla's Small Kraft Re-Lit, the GCH CH Bret D N Engine Co To The Rescue, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar's Steel Blu.  She chose the Giant, Dora, as her Best and the Smooth Fox, Roy, as her Reserve.

Robert Caswell would also prefer Dora to the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dassin Hillwood Rock on By, who he liked better than the English springer Spaniel, GCH CH Ocoee DSQd With A Vengance, the Whippet, CH Prophecy's Star Struck, the Smooth Fox, Roy, the Toy Poodle, CH Baliwick Behold And Believe, and the above named Bouvier.  Dora and handler Amy Booth now have seven BIS this year, four this month.  The girl is on a roll.

Dora showed up this past Thursday in Gloria Geringer’s final at the Pontiac Kennel Club show in Kalamazoo.  Joining her was her kennel mate, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Smooth Dachshund, CH Speechless Kinder’s In It To Win It MS, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Trio’s Big Shot, the aforementioned Dalmatian, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Karizma’s Ike of Edale.

Day one went to 2012’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the GWP, Oakley.  Getting the Reserve award was the Russell, Bosse.  Oakley is taking it easy this year, but still has 15 BIS in just 25 final appearances, good enough to make him the Number Four Dog All Breeds this year so far.

Yesterday the Holland Michigan Kennel Club was the Kalamazoo host and they asked Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine to take the final ring.  The seven they sent up to her were the GWP, Oakley, the Scottish Deerhound, CH Dhu Mohr Gentom Pennant’s Peacekeeper, the Giant, Dora, the Russell, Bosse, the King Charles & Ruby English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, and the now familiar Dalmatian & Bouvier.

Once again Bosse, the Russell, would get the RBIS, but the points and the BIS went to Bouvier, Blue.  It’s Blue’s second BIS this year and his 12th Herding Group top prize, four in the last two weekends and we still have three more days to go in the set.  Pretty spiffy.
