Before we start with this week’s results we have one more set from last week.  Several of the country’s top dogs started their week last Thursday in Lexington KY at the Lexington Kennel Club show, the first of a five show cluster.  You can read about Thursday’s show here.

GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari

Friday’s host was the Northern Kentucky Kennel Club who chose Dr Randy Weckman to command the final ring.  The seven superstars that joined him were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Be Nice To Me, the Boxer, GCH CH Ho-Pa’s Grand Slam, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Copperridge’s Sugar N Spice.

The two topping the group were the country’s Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Affenpinscher, Joey, who claimed the RBIS, and the Number Ten Dog, the Standard Poodle, London, who grabbed the BIS.  London is the US’ Number One Non-Sporting Dog with 27 BIS this year.

Saturday the LKC would take the grounds again ending with Ann Hearn’s final.  Among her finalists were returning finalists, Springer, the Lakeland, the Poodle, London, & the Puli, the Otterhound, GCH CH Whiteriver’s He’s a Keeper!, the Great Dane, CH Michaeldane JB This Is It Tonka, and the Papillon, GCH CH Marquis Signature Style.  Once again the Poodle, London, would pick up one of the top awards, the RBIS, while the day’s BIS would go to the Lakeland, Spot.  Spot is America’s Number Three Terrier, with 14 all breed Bests.

GCH CH Foxcliffe Enchanted Evening

Sunday the NKKC would return with Robert Hutton in the BIS ring with the aforementioned Springer, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Foxcliffe Enchanted Evening, the  Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Affenpinscher, Joey, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the above named Australian Shepherd.

It was a new two at the top, the Border Terrier, Maya, with the Reserve award, and the Deerhound, Chant, taking home her first Best In Show of the year.  This beauty has posted one BIS in each of the last three years in very limited showing.  We hope we get to see more of her in the future.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Cecilia L Dove & Dr R Scott Dove and handler Angela Lloyd.

GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan's Wake

The Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club closed the set giving Walter Sommerfelt the final final and his pick of the now familiar Springer, Affenpinscher, Standard Poodle, & Puli, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Briardach’s Rock Star, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan's Wake, and the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina.

The last two standing were the Poodle, London, who picked up his second RBIS of the set and the Schnauzer, Finn, who got the BIS.   The win, his second of the year, comes on the heels of three consecutive Working Group wins last weekend at the huge Santa Barbara CA shows and a BIS at the presitgious Saturday Santa Barbara Kenel Club show.

  1. Pretty sure the std schn won one of those bests at Santa Barbara last wknd.

  2. That would be the Standard Schnauzer's second BIS, right? He got one in Santa Barbara, as seen in the photo.
