WHERE IN THE WORLD IS DODGER?

CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice

If you have been wondering where our Number One Dog All Breeds, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, was this weekend, we will tell you. Dodger & handler Amy Booth started the week four days ago in Terre Haute IN where they collected two Group Ones & a BIS before adjourning 1200 miles to Beeville TX (it’s near Corpus Christi) where they added two more BIS to their resume. Joining them and judge Dnald Booxbaum on Saturday were the Golden Retriever, CH Plantanoro Topspin N Hot Pushoe-T, the 15” Beagle, CH Belcanto’s Flags A’Flyin, the Great Dane, CH Summerfield’s Lady Of Hope, the Affen pinscher, CH Ferlin’s Its All About Me, the Bichon Frise, CH Miabella Gone With the Wind, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Vonzo Zafiro. Sunday they partied with Denny Mounce and the Field Spaniel, CH Bitterblue’s Here Comes Da Judge, the above named Beagle, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Horizon’s Upper Echelon, the Pomeranian, CH Sofine Lemony Snicket Of Lilliput, the previously mentioned Bichon, and the Australian Shepherd, Clearview’s Perfect Match.

For those of you keeping count, that’s 21 all breed Best this year. Pretty impressive.

  1. Twenty-one best in shows this year is impressive, but poor Dodger must be sick of being crammed into a sherpa bag so often.

  2. He must not be too sick of it at the rate he is winning. Besides he's not the first top dog to fly in a bag and I doubt that he will be the last. Sounds like just a poor sport that has to make a negative comment about a top dog to me!

  3. If only we all had those funds and freedom to travel so much!

  4. I can understand flying occasionaly but seems like Dodger is in multiple cities every weekend. Doesn't look like other top dogs are handled this way, just an observation.

  5. Sadie was on the east coast as much as the west coast.

The Booths are driving alot! I've been to shows....I've seen their vehicle!

  6. Ya know I've sat back for several months now reading comments agreeing with some disagreeing with some, however I am so tired off ANONYMOUS said.....OWN IT! Good or Bad in support of or not, or follow the if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything rule. Grow a pair and own your thoughts and comments.
As for flying my dog yes we do, not unlike most of the top dogs past and present. If anyone wants to question my dog's condition or happiness feel free to contact me. Are we grateful to have a client that choses to promote and show our dog to this level, yes we are. I guess my point is. Own your thoughts and comments, and don't be a hypocrite and comment on one dog and forget or overlook others. I am very proud of my wife, my owners, my dog, and our success.
As a note to anonymous... "doesn't look like other top dogs are handled this way" Perry GA weekend 3 top dogs left GA for other shows, does it matter if they flew for a couple hrs or road in a crate all night? All these dogs I know personally are happy, well conditioned, and loved by their handlers and owners. This is just one of several examples I would be more then happy to share.

  7. This whole talk about Dodger flying around is like a broken record. I'm not sure why he is being singled out here when several top dogs this year and in previous years have been flown and have been at more than one set of shows in a weekend. Certainly not something I can afford to do but I don't hold it against those that can. Some of us our hobbyists and some are professionals and get paid to do it. For the pros its simply not a "funds or freedom" issue. It's their job! At least Dodger is not being flown with a fake service vest like some do.

  8. To Anonymous on April 27,2010 at 11:29pm-If you are that jealous of Dodger and his handlers success you are free to hire a handler for your dog.Handlers and their dogs travel by motorhome to the shows majority of the time.

  9. We've flown Emily a few times this year, and split circuits. Phil is right, it certainly is not just Dodger.

  10. Not fair to single out Dodger! That said, I think the whole race for the unofficial rankings has gotten completely out of control. I live in Tennessee and go to itsy-bitsy shows in the middle of nowhere, and guess who's there? A veritable Who's Who of top-rated dogs in each group, scoping out an easy Group One & a chance at BIS. For the terriers, this might mean beating a grand total of 15-25 terriers for a Group One. Bleh.

  11. Had the sad misfortune of witnessing a top dog's handler go postal at the Brooksville Circuit when she didn't make it out of the breed. Screaming and yelling at another competitor to the point that the AKC rep had to be called.
Too much artificial stress! Too much hype! And yes, Phil, I'm staying anonymous because I don't want a target on my back.

  12. Props out to anybody that loves their dog so much to want to show them and make them #1. Go Dodger & Emily, and to all of the other top dogs this year! Anonymous, it's to bad that you have to hide under your cloak. All the best to your success.

  13. I personally drive to most of the shows also. On occasion I do fly. It depends on the dog and if he/she can handle it all. If they are happy, and in good condition it doesn't matter.

As long as the dogs well-being always comes first. That is ALWAYS my priority and I can tell if my dog is too tired, personally. I am willing to bet that most of the top dogs handlers are so in touch with their dogs that they can too.

It's best if most people spoke of things they have first hand knowledge of.

  14. To Anonymous april 28, 8:26... Mr. Wheeler is correct this site is supposed to be about the dogs. If you'd like to know the FACTS of the events leading up to the incedent you mentioned, and the incedent itself please feel free to contact me directly. Also there were SEVERAL he's involved in your fore mentioned incedent, myself included, not just a she. Target on YOUR back? Join the club!

on a better note the 6:22 post has a great point as things are now it is impossible for top dogs to pass up shows, even small ones. Should we develope a system limiting shows or defining a season that would be elemenated. Top dogs could not afford to go to small shows for points, shows attended would need to be as big as possible.

  15. Hey Amy, You go girl! You have definitely hit the big time to be getting so much attention! I knew you since you were a little girl showing your family's Brittanys. Anyone that wants to say anything bad about you doesn't know you or your family. Stay strong. Several of us out here are very proud of you and your breeding program.

  16. I think we should count our lucky stars that we have this blog to read about our fellow dog show competitors did during the weekend. If certain people continue to use this as a forum to take their anger out on someone else, the author of this blog make make the decision and discontinue writing about the dog shows.

  17. I have never seen dogs better cared for than by the Booth's. The care they receive is top drawer and I have seen this first hand at their kennel and on the road. They have cared for my dogs both on the road and in their kennel and the care is beyond reproach. They have traveled with my dogs in the working group and they have always appeared in top form from grooming, conditioning, even the teeth.

Someone suggested that other dogs are not treated this way. If they are not cared for as well then that is sad. I have seen some of the conditions that a occur in competition and some of them have made me sick. The welfare of the dog is ignored.

If you have never experienced the methods of the way the booths care for their dogs then you should zipper your lips and deal with fact.

  18. To anonymous April 28 1:18 am,
Currently, Linda and her cocker are in IL but live in TN, Lori and Chanel are in TX but live in CA, Rindi/greyhound, Marcello/beagle, Marcello/afghan and David/Peke are in WV but live in other states and the show is smaller than 500 dogs. I believe this disproves your accusation that Amy is the only one with a top ranked dog traveling for his best interest.

  19. Dodgerhas it rough sleeping on the bed every night with Amy when they go from show to show. Would it be better if she slapped a service dog vest on him and said he a therapy dog to get him on the floor? Dodger unhappy? Whatever!
