SHARKS & ALLIGATORS

We know summer is over. We know you are partied out after the past long weekend. However, there is nothing like the hair of the dog to cure a weekend hangover. No we are not talking about your favorite libation, We are talking about this week’s dog show offerings.


We have a veritable fall harvest of shows, with 41 all breed shows in the lower 48. There are four day fantasies on both Atlantic and Gulf beaches. In Falmouth MA you can have your own shark week while attending the Cape Cod and South Shore Kennel Club shows Thursday through Sunday. (You did see the reports on Great White Sharks off Cape Cod?) In Biloxi MS you can visit the alligator farms in between shows offered by the Singing River Kennel Club Of Mississippi & the Mobile Kennel Club on the same days.


If, however, the mountains are more your thing, try the Pocono Mountain Kennel Club shows in Gilbert PA on Thursday & Friday, then move on down to Kempton for Lehigh Valley Kennel Club’s show on Saturday before checking out Sunday’s Berk’s County Kennel Club event in Kutztown. Friday, the Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club & Three Rivers Kennel Club Of Missouri will open a four day stand in Sullivan MO and the Hutchinson, Salina, &Wichita Kennel Clubs will kick off a three day visit in Salina KS.

There are two day offerings in virtually every area of the country/ Moving east to west, we have shows in Pinehurst NC, East Ridge TN, Lockport NY, Goodells MI, Lebanon IN, Manitowoc WI, Rochester MN, Chino Valley AZ, Farminton UT, San Rafael CA, and Wenatchee WA.

BACK2BACK BOO

We forgot to tell you that the nation’s number one Pug and number two Toy Dog, CH Tupelo ShoBoat Tu China Tu, returned to the show ring with a Boo sized bang, bagging back to back BIS in Wilmot WI, taking the top prizes on both days of the Kenosha Kennel Club shows.

We had given you the whole story on Saturday’s show, but here’s Sunday’s skinny. Joinin Boo and judge Noreen Cartwright in Sunday’s final were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Bleugras Saggbark She’s So Fine, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Paradigm Aariel’s Entourage RA CD, the Dpoberman Pinscher, CH Abadie’s Crystal Vision, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Smywyre Make My Day, the Schipperke, CH Dante;s All Fired Up, and the Border Terrier, CH Border Lane Jp Talisman Forever.

Boo had slipped out of the all breed top ten during his hiatus, but we suspect he will be back in the top ten before too long.

OUT OF THIS WORLD IN ROSWELL

The Rio Pecos Kennel Club had two shows in Roswell NM this weekend. They were no UFOs, but the dogs were out of this world.

CH Pyrpressure L’Orgueil

On Saturday, Dr J Donald Jones went over the Vizsla, CH Renaissance Girls Gone Wild, the Basenji, CH Ab-Rafiki The Icon of Cool, the Great Pyrenees, CH Pyrpressure L’Orgueil, the Border Terrier, CH Devon Lady Semper Fi, the Maltese, CH Rhapsody’s Too many Remarks, the Lhasa Apso, CH Sharles The hacker, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Heart Of Gold Power Play.

BIS went to the big Pyrenees, Pride. It’s the first BIS for Pride and breeders/owners Glenn & Merry & Jonathan Johnson. Congratulations to the Johnsons.

CH Riverside Wicked Wonderful

Sunday, Pride, the Vizsla, the Basenji, and the Border Terrier, were all back for one more look. Alos in Robert Shreve’s ring were the Pomeranian, CH Horizon-N-Janesa Indian Sundown, the Dalmatian, CH Nspird Aspotsafire It’s A Wrap, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Riverside Wicked Wonderful. His Best In Show was the Corgi, Deidre. That’s number four for Deidre this year and Breeder/owner/handler Deb Shindle.

REDWOOD EMPIRE

In Northern California, the Redwood Empire Kennel Club held two shows in Petaluma. We did give you a peek at those shows over the weekend. Here’s the rest of the story.

CH Robin Crest Charismatic JH

On Saturday, BIS winner, the Bouvir des Flandres, CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber, shared the final ring with the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Robin Crest Charismatic, JH, the Harrier, CH Pacific’s Skybird, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Marienburg's Inaqui Sukiyaki, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Parastone’s Call Me Mon Cheri, the Havanese, CH Bellatak My Funny Valentine, and the Standard Poodle, CH Penndragon Masaniello.

CH Smokycity Silhouette Dbl Ur Pleasure

We told you about the good fortune of handler Mike Stone, whose Basset Hound, CH Blossomhill Mamma Mia, won BIS while two more of Mike’s dogs shared the ring. They were joined by the Weimaraner, CH Smokycity Silhouette Dbl Ur Pleasure, the Miniature Schnauzer , CH Regency's Good To Go, and the above-mentioned Bouvier and Standard Poodle.

We are still missing results from Pennsylvania and New Mexico. We will bring those to you as soon as we get them.

EUGENE DETAILS

One of the major stops on the show circuit this week was Eugene OR where the McKenzie Cascade Dog Fanciers & the Eugene Kennel Club collaborated on four shows. We gave you all the results from Thursday and some of the results from Saturday & Sunday. Here’s what we left out.

CH Royailes Hasta B A Cut Above

On Friday, day two of the McKenzie Cascade DF, Nancy Byrd, had the BIS reigns and the following dogs to chose from Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Royailes Hasta B A Cut Above, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Hallam Churka's Limited Edition SC, the Black Russian Terrier, CH That's Keeping The Karma, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Silky Terrier, CH Wyncliff Tawnymist Tumtress, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Lakeridge Summer In The Hamptons, and the Border Collie, CH Majestic Avatar Storm Warning PT. Best went to the Springer, Opie. Opie is the country’s number one Welsh Springer Spaniel.

CH Xanadus Angel Sabrina

We told you that the Irish Setter, CH Ashton Peaceful Easy Feeling, went BIS on Saturday. She was accompanied in Ann Yuhasz’ ring by Thrusday’s BIS winner, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Pupukearidge Ikaika O Sprngvly, Portuguese Water Dog, CH Aviator's Luck Be A Lady, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Arbroath's Rosewood Rise N' Shine, the Papillon, CH Arsuma's Brilliat Diamond, the Dalmatian, CH Xanadus Angel Sabrina, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Von Hamm Bedkar Leathern' Lace.

CH Jeff Yvonne Orlowsky Laimus

Finally, we now can tell you that the Black Russian Terrier, CH Jeff Yvonne Orlowsky Laimus, Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Perrisblu Paris, and the Chinese Crested, CH Kamikazi's Star Kissed, were all part of Jerladeen Crandall’s final on Sunday.

One place we hadn’t mentioned this weekend was Greeley CO where the Evergreen Colorado had two shows. On Saturday Everett Dean had the Golden Retriever, CH Toasty’s Treasure Island, the Afghan Hound, CH Thaon’s Mowgli, the Boxer, CH Capri’s Magic Maker Of Sassy, the Stafordshire Bul Terrier, CH Cresstock’s Walk The Line, the Brussels Griffon, CH Cashin’s Walk The Line, the Schipperke, CH Bonchien Mr. Monopoly, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo’s Georgie Girl. Hiis BIS was the OES. That’s number six for the country’s number two OES.

CH Afterglow Ebeneezer

Sunday , only the OES would return to final ring. Walter Bebout’s other finalists were the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, CH Mardi Gras Strut The Stage, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Afterglow Ebeneezer, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Nshem’s He’s the Man Of Woodmoor, the Airedale Terrier, CH Sherwood’s King Arthur, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Orchard Hill Shirmont Baktalk, and the Standard Poodle, CH Donnchada Sweet Dreams. BIS went to the PBGV, Ebeneezer. That’s his second this year.

Saturday, it was Timothy Catterson commading BIS. His finalists were the Golden Retriever, CH Gangway's SUV, the Greyhound, CH Gaia Elfin Dance, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Skansen's Sir August Brigs, the Glen Of Imaal Terrier, CH Daulton's Maeve Of Cill Dara, the Shih Tzu, CH Xeralane's Face The Music, the Boston Terrier, CH Keynote's Knockout Kid, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Icon Gala Lunar Eclipse.

BIS went to the Greyhound, Emerson. That’s three BIS for Emerson, the most by a Greyhound this year. Emerson was bred by Scott Thomson & Sue LeMieux, is owned by Sue, Masaru Kunisa & Jay Ito, and is handed by Nina Fetter. Congratulations to them all.

Meanwhile, in Davisburg MI, the Pontiac Kennel Club hosted a pair of shows. We did give you complete results on Saturday;‘s show and told you that the Dalmation, CH Bret D’s Sergeant Major, Dr James Sillers’ BIS on Sunday.

NEW HAMPSHIRE DETAILS

After an exceptionally long long weekend, we have lots of results for you, so we will get right to them. First, up in North Conway, NH we told you that the 15” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Confession posted back to back BIS, breaking the all breed BIS record for a bitch of the variety.

Sunday, the six bridesmaids in Ann Hearn’s final were the Sussex Spaniel, CH Erinhill Cpnwy Mr Fuzzywrinkles, the Akita, CH Nakodo's Reign Of Glory, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Mondrian V H Lamslag RE, the French Bulldog, CH Petite Cherie Femme De Puissance, and the Canaan Dog, CH Renegade Camber.

SCARLETT LETTER DAY

The long weekend came to an end today in Raleigh NC with the hometown Raleigh Kennel Club hosting and Harry Smith taking charge of the final ring.

CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream

Fanciers saw mostly familiar faces, but there were a couple of dogs making their first final appearance of the week. The lucky seven were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Fieldfines Back In Action JH, the Afghan Hound, CH Genesis Silverado, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, the Smooth Coat Chhuahua, CH Arywen Star Kissed Delight, the Lhasa Apso, CH My Thai Se Halleluiah Chorus, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams.

Closing out the five day stand was the Boxer, Scarlett. The nation’s number two Working Dog sometimes gets overlooked, but she and handler Diego Garcia have been out there every weekend, working hard to hold on to a top ten all breed ranking and collecting 15 BIS including this one. Scarlett was bred by Tina Porter & Lee Stanton, and is owned by Debbie McCarroll, Mark Fagan, Mrs J Billhardt, & S Tenenbaum. We congratulate them and Diego on their special win and thank them all for bringing us this terrific girl. Did we mention she is only 27 months old?

We’ve been waiting for the details from yesterday’s Pontiac Kennel Club show, but we think we should tell you what we do know. Dr. James D. Sillers’ BIS was the Dalmatian, CH Bret D’s Sergeant Major. That’s the first all breed BIS this year for Major, bred & owned by John & Elaine Bachey & Marie Zink and handled by Phillip Booth. Congratulations to them all.
