GCH CH GrandCru Giaconda
Most old-timers in the show community consider the
Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) show to be the capstone of the show season,
making the International Kennel Club of Chicago (IKCC) shows the first big stop
of the year. However over the last
decade the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship (AENC) has provided a fitting end
to the year, giving fanciers time to spend the holidays with the family before
roaring back with the Palm Springs shows.
GCH CH Albriden’s The Show Must Go On
This year the IKCC moved their Saturday opener to January 31st
giving Great Lakes fanciers a chance to see the WKC favorites before they head
to Madison Square Garden. Yesterday
judge Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine’s special seven were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever,
GCH CH Albriden’s The Show Must Go On, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Giaconda,
the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I’ll Have Another V Braeside RN, the Dandie
Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Pomeranian, GCH CH
Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Barberry’s Take
A Chance On Me, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Sundance Ringside Rumor.
It was déjà vu all over again when the Greyhound, Gia, and
the Chessie, Aries, repeating their BIS and RBIS wins at Friday’s Blackhawk
Kennel Club show. We have seen a number
of beautiful Greyhounds from breeder Melanie Steele and breeder/handler Rindi
Gaudet. We think Gia is a Dog2Watch.
