GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman
If there is a more unfairly maligned breed in AKC than the
American Staffordshire Terrier, we don’t know what it is. We wish more of the public would make it to
an AKC show and meet some of the AmStaffs we see, the vast majority of which are sweet,
loving animals. One of the breed's most successful ambassadors, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, was in Anchorage AK this weekend, picking up
back2back BIS at the Tanana Valley Kennel Club and the Alaska Kennel Club
shows. Sunday's win was Jelly's 27th career BIS, tying the breed record.
Joining Jelly and breeder/owner/handler Ed Thomason in Darryl
Vice’s BIS ring on Saturday were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Willowbrook At
Harvard, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Studios Coldfoot Campaign By Freedom SC,
the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Tamarak’s Just Jammin, the Maltese, CH Maltangel
Heavenly Vision, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Meadow At Lakeridge, and the RBIS,
the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Melody Hit The Jackpot PT.
Sunday Jelly would return to see Gloria Kerr, along with
the same Rhodesian, Maltese, & Standard Poodle, the Reserve
winner, the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Double Dutch Raised On Rock N’ Roll, the
Newfoundland, CH Black Watch’s Timbucktoo RN, the Rough Collie, CH Highcroft Hush Hush.
The first AmStaff to win a Grand Champion title, Jelly can
also boast five Limited Breed BIS and 15 Bests In Specialty Show, including the
2010 and 2011 Staffordshire Terrier Club of America national specialties. Our congratulations to Ed, breeders Karen
Thomason, D Nechemias, & L Claus, and owners Zane Smith & Karen
Thomason.
Thank you Billy. We are very proud of our silly boy.
