GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands

Before we get into our Independence Day celebration, let’s catch up on the rest of the past week.  New Yorkers headed upstate to the town of Bainbridge, three hours northwest of Manhattan, this past week for their dog show fix.

The Kanadasaga Kennel Club kicked of the four day set on Thursday and put David Kittredge in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Dixieland Duchess, the Otterhound, CH Kalevala Always in Scentsational Style, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Tallpine's Appletini RN, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Belgian Sheepdog, CH Sans Brancos Wynonna.

We love it when one of our rare breeds gets acknowledged and they don’t get much rarer than the Otterhound, Emilene.  This one is so rare we couldn’t find a photo of her ;-) It is the first BIS for the three year old bitch.  Congratulations to breeders Rebecca & Bruce Van Houten & Nancy & Richard Wallens and owners Cathy Glenn,  Kitty Burke, Kathy Gertler.

The next two days would belong to the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands.  Friday Chuck Winslow would make Tawny the Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club’s BIS while the Labrador, GCH CH Casbar’s Hart to Hart, the Boxer, Jacquet’s Laredo El Encanto, the above named Scottie & Affenpinscher, the Schipperke, De LaMer Black Lace, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Collinswood One In A Million NAJ NA, all watched.

Saturday Patricia Hess would prefer Tawny to the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwind’s First Reign, the Kerry Blue Terrier, Class Act by Hallsblu, Great Dane, GCH CH Shoreline’s Som’thing T Talk Abt, the previously seen Affenpinscher & Schipperke, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devniwood A Perfect Stranger.   Tawny and handler Amanda Giles have been among the Top Hounds for the last three years.  This year she is the Number Twol Hound in number of groups won, 38.  She also has seven BIS for her trouble.

Class Act by Hallsblu

Tawny and Amanda were back in the final ring with Thomas Parrotti for the Susquee-Nango Kennel Club’s close on Sunday.  Rounding out the final were the now familiar Irish Setter, Boxer, Kerry Blue, Affenpinscher, Schipperke, and Collie.

It was the Kerry taking home the final big rosette of the stop   It’s the first AKC BIS for the two year old British import.  Congratulations to breeder Sam Moffett, owners William J Berry & A F Austin., and handler George Wright.

  1. On Saturday you did not include the working group in your line up for BIS. It was a Great Dane.
