I recently wrote a piece on the importance of national specialties for my Back Story column over on my partner site, Best In Show Daily. This week’s American Boxer Club’s 2012 National Specialty is an excellent example of why nationals mean so much.
The seven day long event drew a total of 619 dogs to Ft Mitchell KY. Now, think about that…619 dogs…that’s an average size all breed show these days. If you, like I, are a fan of the chiseled athleticism and ebullient personality of the Boxer, the thought of that many Boxers under one roof is pure sensory overload.
When it was all over judge Dr David Abraham chose CH Hi Tech The King of Sherry Shoot Jp as his BISS. Other major awards went to CH Draco Greets Dassin With Fourbears (BOS), Destiny's The Spy Who Loved Me (WB/BW), and Cinni Bon N Telstar's Gladiator (WD). GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style was both the ABC Top 20 Winner and Peoples Choice Top 20 Winner.
Best of Breed winner, King, is a champion in Japan, Canada, & the US. King, who has not spent a whole lot of time here in the US, has been very busy in Canada this year where he is currently the Number Five Dog All Breeds, with two BIS and two Reserve BIS. Congratulations to breeder/owner Shinryo Teragaki, co-breeders Dr William Truesdale & Zoila Truesdale, and handler Maso Hanabusa.
