Meanwhile back on the East Coast dog folks were gathered in York PA for five days of festivities.  We did give you the results from last Wednesday & Thursday.

On Friday, it was the hometown York Kennel Club hosting and judge Jan Paulk in the final ring with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic's Candie Ham Of Pebbles' Run, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Wonderlands Heavily Armed Agitator, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Krissey's Savvy Jasper, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

It was 2011’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Cocker, Beckham, picking up his 13th BIS of 2012. Will it be  good enough to hold on to his Number Three All Breed ranking?  We will be the first to tell you.

Saturday, Dr John Ioia greeted the Brittany, GCH CH Carroltons Count Lancelot, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore's Diamond Lil, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Laochragh's Clancy, the Papillon, GCH CH Involo The King Of Pop, the Xoloitzcuintli, Tecoman, and the above named Australian Shepherd.

Best at the day one show of the Delaware County Kennel Club was the Irish Terrier, Clancy.  It’s the first of the year for Clancy and handler Adam Bernardin.  Congratulations to Adam, breeder Christine Marsh, and owners Ken Marsh & Kelly Marsh.

GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore's Diamond Lil

Sunday’s day DCKC show featured Dana Cline in the final ring with the previously mentioned Foxhound, Dane, & AmStaff, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Gingerly's Sweet Tea, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Beauceron, GCH CH Beowolf Rime des Monts du Lac.

Best went to the stunning black Great Dane, Scout.  For all of you that want a credible argument for ear cropping, the above picture is worth a thousand words.  It is the first all breed BIS for Scout, who is not yet two years old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Patricia Tootie Longo, David Miller, & Lorraine Matherly, and handler Laura Lynn Coomes.

  1. I don't understand the ear cropping statement, this dog would also be beautiful with natural ears.

    1. Yes she would, but she is magnificent with those cropped ears.

  2. To my eye, she would be more beautiful with natural ears. I'm with Anonymous #1 on this one. The picture provides no argument in favor of the invasive procedure. I know some humans would look better if they had their ears cropped!

    1. I want to maximize participation on the blog. Besides, people who sign their comments often use a screen name that doesn't really idnetify them. As long as people don't violate the "no Troll" rules. they're free to comment. I want to hear all sides. My momma, says, "Keep a open mind, just don't let your brains fall out."

  6. As someone new to dog showing, I've nothing to compare cropped ears to since natural ears aren't being shown. If superior dogs with uncropped ears were to begin showing and winning, it would be more of a choice for owners/handlers than "the thing to do." I think the cropped ears are stunning, but they certainly aren't necessary and I fear the decision will taken away from us by outside forces in my lifetime. Amazingly, dog showing will continue with uncropped ears. MS
