A hush came over the crowd in Orlando FL while it waited for Polly Smith’s seven finalists at tonight’s Eleventh Annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. The last seven standing were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrill Seduction, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.
Each of the night‘s competitors showed no sign of lagging at the late hour and received enthusiastic applause and they swept around the ring individually. Each one gave a BIS worthy performance. However, there can only be one National Champion and 2011’s is the Standard Poodle, London. London never put a foot wrong during the evening, impressing judge and gallery alike. Our congratulations to breeders Sandra Tompkins & Chris Bailey, owners Beth Harris, Michele Molnar, & Jamie Danburg, and handler Ann Rairigh.

Been a London fan for a long time, he's a very deserving dog, one of the best poodles I've ever seen in the 37 years I've been showing dogs. I just hope I can get to sleep tonight, I'm so over excited!
ReplyDeleteHe is certainly a gorgeous dog with quite a presence. I did not expect him to take home the grand prize, but I'm not at all disappointed!
ReplyDeleteThey're a great team
A well deserved win! IMO, no one was close.
ReplyDeleteBilly, every time you report on Eira you are missing the last 'e' in Steele.
ReplyDeleteLondon is a knockout. Thanks Polly Smith for renewing my faith in judging.
ReplyDeleteBilly, your also missing the "e" on the owners name of London also. Michele not Michel
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled for everyone on the team. They really do it for the Game and the enjoyment of the sport.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all of them.

I wish people would not nitpick simple things like leaving a letter off of a name. Billy works very hard and does a GREAT job reporting. Thank you Billy! I also noticed the people "complaining" are anonymous......
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with the above comment. Thank you Polly Smith! London IS spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI actually, like it when people catch my errors and tell me. I am a one man shop and derive almost no income from this (less than $50 from Amazon this year. If people didn't tell me I was making errors by the time I figured it out I'd have a bunch of work to go back and correct them. So keep those corrections coming in as soon as you see 'em!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite a thrilling BIS judging and the winner was everything you could hope for in that moment. Congratulations to all of his connections. GREAT photo by Jeff Hanlin!
ReplyDeleteGuys I hate to break the news, the the WINNER of the 2011 National Dog Show was the Wire Fox Terrier, NOT the Standard Poodle! Please check your facts. All the dogs in the BIS ring were fabuluous and deserving, however the choosen one was the Wire Fox Terrier. Geeze.......
ReplyDeleteThis wan't the National Dog Show. Billy already reported those results a month back. This was the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. Maybe you should read the entire post before posting "corrections".
