FALL FEAST OF SHOWS

Independence Hall Philadelphia PA

Maybe it’s the season, but after a few weeks of relatively slim pickings, this coming weekend we have a veritable fall feast of shows with 41 all breed shows in twelve locations evenly distributed across these United States.

As usual, if you live in the east you will have a smorgasbord of shows from which to choose.  Syracuse NY will see three shows hosted by the Central New York Kennel Club, the Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club, & Chenango Valley Kennel Club beginning on Friday.  In the Philadelphia suburb of Oaks PA, dog fanciers will gather on Thursday for the four shows of the Penn Treaty Kennel Club, Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association, & the Kennel Club Of Philadelphia.  The KCP’s Saturday show will be broadcast Thanksgiving Day on NBC TV immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, so you small dog exhibitors, look for the camera before stacking your dog.

The Carolina Terrier Association will warm up the crowd on Thursday in Concord NC before the three all breed shows offered by the Greater Monroe Kennel Club & Fayetteville Kennel Club.  Floridians will be in Ocala starting Thursday for the four shows hosted by the Seminole Dog Fanciers Association & the Greater Ocala Dog Club.

Philadelphia may have the prestige and the glamour, but Columbus OH will have the numbers.  The Sandusky Kennel Club, the Dayton Kennel Club, the Lima Kennel Club, & the Central Ohio Kennel Club have drawn a entry of over 7,500 dogs.  The fun starts Thursday.  The Minneapolis Kennel Club will give us the traditional two show weekend, half an hour south, in Shakopee MN.

The Council Bluffs Kennel Club will also do the two show thing 400  miles south in Lincoln NE.  However, if you live in the central US, the action will be in Chicasha OK, 40 miles south of Oklahoma City, where the Town And Country Kennel Club & the Canadian Valley Kennel Club will stage four all breed shows.  Texans will be in Houston for a weekend with the Brazoria Kennel Club.

Exhibitors out west will have lots of choices this week from the Tucson Kennel Club & the Greater Sierra Vista Kennel Club four shows in Tucson AZ to the San Luis Obispo Kennel Club & the  Santa Maria Kennel Club three shows in Paso Robles CA to the Umpqua Kennel Club & the Rogue Valley Kennel Club four shows in Roseburg OR to the Whidbey Island Kennel Club two shows in Monroe WA.  Those are Friday, Saturday, Thursday, & Saturday starts respectively.

So whether you are hoping to boost your breed points, get some free TV time, or just hang out with your fellow fanciers, check out an AKC dog show this week.

  1. FYI
This must be a typo. Council Bluffs, Iowa and Lincoln, Nebraska are not 400 miles apart.
