Our week’s first report is in from West Springfield MA where some of the nation’s best dogs gathered for the first of four shows, the Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club show.  Lowell K Davis considered the Field Spaniel, CH Tamarack’s Race You To Calico, the Borzoi, CH Greyhaven Wizard's Crystal, the St Bernard, CH Opdyke's Drives Me To Drink , the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.   Continuing his remarkable Summer Surge was the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Smooth Fox, Dodger, taking home career BIS 77.  That’s gotta be a lucky number.

  4. Quote from you: "We want to recognize some of those dogs owned by the average dog show exhibitor, the exhibitor who doesn’t have a trust fund, the exhibitor who has a regular job and can’t make it to 150 shows a year, the exhibitor who doesn’t have access to a corporate jet to show in four cities in four days."
Too bad it's not working out that way.

My, aren't you a sad, sad person! Why must trolls always post on Dodger wins? I am his breeder. He was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, a very average place. I paid the breeding fee and there is no breeder or handler more average than me. I was the first to show him and he won a major even with my limited skills.

There are no corporate jets or trusts funds behind this dog. He was given as a gift to Amy shortly after Tux died. Dodger's success has come from very hard work on the part of the Booth's. They deserve admiration, not your derision.

Rather than whine, why don't you hit the road and show us what you can do? We would love to hear about your success and would cheer you on just as we do all of the top dogs. Oh, and cheer up! Live really is good in America for us average folk.

  6. Great post. Whatever happened to that concept?

  7. Last time I checked, the Booths were not flying on corporate jets and do not have trust funds. Showing dogs is their job, thus allowing them to attend many shows throughout the year along with many of the other dogs in the top spots. Billy reports the wins whether owned by the average exhibitor, owner handled, or shown by a professional handler.

  8. Too bad there are still annonymous trolls with sour grapes. Negative comments come from negative people.

  9. these forums are really great and the beauty of them is that if you don't like how they are run or they don't meet your expectations then you don't have to read them. Dog Show Poop is Billy's open house party and if the party isn't quite what you expected you can always attend someone elses

  10. I want to reassure all my readers that the “NO TROLLS” policy is still in force. I took the comment of August 26, 2010 9:58 PM, as a criticism of me, not of any particular dog, owner, handler, or breeder. I’m always open to comments on how the blog can be improved, Not every reader expresses criticism in a refined way, but I still welcome it.

As to the substance of the criticism, I do report on all the ranked dogs because that’s what the vast majority of my readers want to read about. I also report on EVERY BIS & Group Winner, half of which are owner handled. I have also reported on a number of specialties listing the Winners Dogs and Winners Bitch. as well as the BISS. Hopefully, there is something for all dog lovers in these pages.

  11. I'm working towards the day that my dogs name will be posted on Dog Show Poop along with my name after it as owner or handler; maybe both. ;-) But until my day comes I will cheer on my friends/competitors. I can't wait to see the results for the rest of this weekend...bring them on Billy!

  12. Showing the no. 1 dog in the country is the thrill of a lifetime and if the Booths are able to attend all these shows then why shouldn't they? Life is short and you need to live in the moment. No one is more humble and proud of his wins than Amy. Congrats to team Dodger!

  13. I also thought the comment was aimed at Billy but this poster got their punches in at Amy and Dodger, at the same time.
I love your site Billy - hope you are thick skinned :).
My experience with Amy has been nothing but positive from both a personal and competitive nature. She is helpful even in the same ring. She has mentioned to novices (always nicely) to 'fix a foot' or whatever even when she, I'm sure, wants to win, but she is still helpful. I watched her recently give a grooming presentation to a bunch of people, in between showing. She is nothing but pleasant and helpful and I for one haven noticed and look to improve my own attitude and actions just from experiencing the way she competes.

I find it offensive that anyone would say anything bad about another person, just because they are jealous. Go Amy and Dodger!

  14. There are a few(I am not going to name any names)that have all expenses paid for(hotels, eats, entry fees,etc.).But those are far and few in between. Most of these handlers live on what their clients pay them after they pay the gas bill for their motorhomes and their eats. That is why alot of them have boarding kennels back at home to have extra money.I think the trolls should go and learn from a handler on how they really live before they open their mouths and stick their foot in it next time.

  15. Question to Billy....
There has been so much controversy in multiple threads here and even with the "No Trolls" rule there still are negative and jabbing remarks made (towards you and certain dogs). Why don't you only approve the positive comments? That way, all this pathetic bickering can come to a stop. I understand you want perspective from all angles, but with the top dogs this year being in a such a tight race, people are bound to be hateful. I would really like to see you approve only positive comments, or maybe comments that aren't written by the infamous "Anonymous".

And congratulations are in order to Team Dodger on another win.

  16. Boy I did not even know this thread existed until recently!
I for one have a great life and a great friend in Amy Booth!
I am thrilled for her and Dodger! This is an amazing accomplishment and I am very proud of them!!! This is a very tough arena for a "girl & her dog"!!!
You people who slam her and the dog really should get a life!!! Better yet get therapy for your nastiness and a personality transplant and find something better to do with your time..........
