WATCH THIS DOG2WATCH

CH GrandCru Clos Erasmus

If you want our nominee for a DOG2WATCH to watch, it would be the Greyhound, CH GrandCru Clos Erasmus.  Era & handler have been burning up the circuit these last few weeks, with the latest BIS coming yesterday in Charlottesville VA at the Charlottesville - Albemarle Kennel Club show under Dr Bud McGivern.   Also on hand in the final were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Double-R's Eye Of The Hurricane, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Alpenspirit's Lion King, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Lil'Itch Steeplechase, the Pug, CH WooWoo Serendipity, the Lhasa Apso, CH My Thai Ta Sen Halleluiah Chorus, and the Rough Collie, CH Fantasy's Rock Ledge Beginning.  With ten BIS trophies on the mantle, Era now has entered the Top Fifteen Dogs All Breeds.

  1. Another DOG2WATCH is Champion Lil'Itch Steeplchase. Back to back group ones, 2 BISS and now number 2 in breed points in Smooth Fox Terriers - more breed points than the top Smooth in all-breed points.

  2. She's unusually showy for a Greyhound--I think a lot of this is a tribute to Rindi's handling skills.

  4. Era was breathtaking when Taffe McFadden showed her on the West Coast, too. A standout.

  5. I'm flattered by the comments about my Smooth, Chase. Thank you! He is a great dog.

Congratulations to Rindi and Era. They looked great this weekend and are a very deserving team!

  6. She is the most perky and engaged Greyhound I have ever seen, her handler does a good job!

  7. Taffee has never shown Era. Era is Rindi's pet, has been since she was just a pup.

  8. Mr. Wheeler's Dogs2Watch are Best in Show winners that are hot and on a roll. I don't think Steeplechaase has won a single best. While Breed points and Breed wins are sacred to most good breeders, most Number One dogs in the Country have a hard time being Number One in Breed points for the mere reason that no one wants to show against them. For that reason it is not a scale that many look to determine what is the best in a country.

  9. I just looked up Smooths on the Chronicle Breed stats and Steeplechase is Number 4 on Breed points. Why would someone false advertise on a blog? Talk about get a life!

  10. I believe the points that Chase aquirred in May were included in the totals. The Cronicle has not posted the May points yet. Chase has won MBISS and I have seen them post Best in Specialtiy wins on this blog. He won all 4 days in Virginia and 2 were Specialty wins.

  11. Just to be exact... The Greyhound Taffee was showing on the West Coast was Ch. Sobers Galathea at Grand Cru, Top Greyhound n. 1 and Top Hound n. 4 in 2008!

  12. People please quit talking about my dog Chase (Steeplechase). He is doing great with Handler Maddie. But has not gone Best In Show YET. Lets all get along.

  13. Why is this dog getting so much attention? So the dog had a good weekend, it has not been a consistent winner every weekend. There are many other Smooth Fox being shown that have done much more winning that would qualify to be a dogs2watch. As for success in the groups, I just checked and it's not even top 10.

  14. I am trying to put a stop to it, If I knew who was posting I would contact them myself. If people have things to say post your name

  15. I can't understand why Anonymous feels so threatened by this little black and white dog.(Chase) I thought the whole reason people show and breed dogs was to produce the best example of your breed. If a dog can go from #19 to #5 in breed points than it seems to me that makes him a great example of the breed. Isn't it a fact that the #1 dog in all breed standings, and this dog who is climbing towards the top in breed standings have the same sire.

It seems to me that the Smooths are just getting better and better. I say go Smooth Fox Terriers and Good luck to all who particapate in this great sport.

  16. Sorry to say, but winning two groups, of which were small number-wise does not qualify a dog as a "dog2watch"! There are several smooths across the country with multiple group and BIS wins! Not just smooths either.... I feel that shamless bragging and use of unofficial stats on a blog like this is ridiculous. This is not a place for people to "pimp" their own dogs or anyone else's, it is a report tool to inform the fancy of what dogs are winning where. I will get off my soapbox now, there's more to be said, however the ones that should be reading and learning from this and previous comments probably won't understand no matter what.

  17. My last post on the matter of Chase. None of the owners, or Handler did the posts about Chase. Maddie and myself would love to know who put him in the spotlight. Because I would give them a piece of my mind (not that I have any to spare). I didn't even know you could post untill all this crap started. If you feel you need to say more feel free to step up and email me @ wedigitfx@earthlink.net.
I always want my fellow breeders and Handlers of my Breed to do well , and always show my support. So please leave my dog Alone. And feel free to admit who you are.

  18. To whom it may concern:
The #1 and #2 smooth fox (as of current rankings) have competed against each other on numerous occasions, ten to be exact.
