IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

CH Pikknokka Badger Sir Barksalot

It was a dedicated group of exhibitors that showed up this weekend in the Four Corners town of Cortez CO where Arizona, Colrado, New Mexico, & Utah come together.  They had to be.  It’s in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from the nearest big city.  The Durango Kennel Club started the three day set with Joe Tacker calling the BIS.  First day finalists were the English Springer Spaniel, Gold Camp D Heart Isd On, the Otterhound, CH Scentasia’s Double Trouble, the Great Pyrenees, CH Pyrepressure L’Orgueil, the West Highland White Terrier, Serendipity Crazed About You, the Pomeranian, CH Horizon’s A Fly On The Wall, the Finnish Spitz, CH Pikknokka Badger Sir Barksalot, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Enchanted’s American Thunder.  His Best was the Spitz, Barkley, the only one of his breed to win a BIS this year.  It’s his second.

We might have already told you that Saturday ended with Pete Dawkins choosing the Rottweiler, CH Camcastle’s Core Elemnts CGC as his Best In Show, but we didn’t tell you that the other possible were the aforementioned ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, CH Mardi Gras Strut The Stage, the Greyhound, Windrock Wild Sensation SC, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Belgar’s Desert Sand, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Towntalk Nyteflyte, and the Keeshond, CH Legend’s Purple Reign, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Donlee Jewell Of Aquitaine.

CH Vaje’s Miss Jayne Hathaway

Sunday Robert Schreve closed it out with the abovenamed Cocker & Otterhound, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Lorien Dell’s Sword Of Elendil, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH High Mtn Accidental Tourist, the Pomeranian, CH Geebear’s Cross-fire Hurricane, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Vaje’s Miss Jayne Hathaway, the Australian Shepherd, CH Briarbrooks Medallion Of Merit CGC.   His BIS was the Shar-Pei, her first this year.  She finished 2009 with one all breed Best and 13 Non-Sporting Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Jeff & Vicki Mauk and handle Clint Livingston.
